aisle a bit uncomfortable. it's 5:30 on the east coast, 2:30 out west and this is "way too early." good morning everybody. it's tuesday, september 22nd, i'm amy holmes. after just 70 days as a candidate, wisconsin governor scott walker has suspended his bid for the white house. the former top tier candidate was once considered a fund-raising powerhouse with sterling conservative credentials from his gruelling recall fight with labor unions national polling placed him in one of the three center podiums at last month's republican debate. and as this chart shows, he led in the early voting state of iowa for much of the year. until the rise of the donald. since then the support and the

money dried up like texas governor rick perry before him, walker cited the need for other candidates to coalesce behind an alternative when announcing his decision. >> ronald reagan was good for america because he was an optimist. sadly, the debate taking place in the republican party today is not focused on that optimistic view of america. instead, it has drifted into personal attacks. in the end i believe that the voters want to be for something, and not against someone. today, i believe that i'm being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message, can rise to the top of the field. with this in mind i will suspend my campaign immediately. i encourage other republican presidential candidates to consider doing the same so that

the voters can focus on limited number of candidates who can offer a positive conservative alternative to the current front-runner. >> walker's decision drew quick reaction from his opponents. donald trump, who criticized walker in an iowa -- in iowa at last week's debate tweeted praise saying walker is a nice person with a great future. but said in an interview that he will not be seeking his endorsement. >> i don't think so. i think he knows the different players. he's probably got a deal. don't forget i'm very much of an outsider. it's probably a little bit tough for him to do. >> one candidate appearing to court walker was jeb bush who praised him and rick perry as principle leaders. >> they got to do something that i got to do. they got to be a governor of a state and take an agenda and act on it. they weren't kind of back benchers sitting on the sidelines and yapping about things or talking about filing an amendment and calling it a success. they actually took conservative

ideas and applied them where everybody had a chance to rise up to be successful. and that's kind of the mission that i'm on, as well. >> meanwhile, marco rubio, who walker frequently talks about as a possible running mate has picked up at least two of his early state supporters. and walker's foes are also weighing in. the afl-cio, which describes walker as a quote national disgrace in a one sentence statement when he first announced had this reaction yesterday. quote, scott walker is still a disgrace. just no longer nation. ap jeb bush was ready to speak at the hispanic chamber of commerce in houston yesterday, only protesters had a different idea. bush was less than a minute into his remarks when they began chanting, no hope without our vote. bush responded by saying he supports a path to citizenship for the undocumented who came as children, a vision hillary clinton has accused him of

a 13-point lead over vermont senator bernie sanders nationwide. that's down from her lead of 24 points in the august survey. but it comes as a new cnn/orc poll finds her with an 18-point lead over sanders and that number is unchanged since august. the poll also shows vice president joe biden just two points behind sanders at 22%. and looking deeper at how biden seems to be affecting the numbers in the democratic field, clinton's lead widens significantly if he's not included as an option. in a cnn poll her advantage goes from 18 points to nearly 30. but new polling out of clinton's adopted home state of new york is showing her favorability numbers under water. there, for the first time ever. she's now viewed unfavorably by 51% of new yorkers according to a new siena college poll. that's a net drop of 21 points since july when her favorability rating was at 56% in new york.

vice president joe biden is again speaking out about a potential 2016 run in an interview with catholic organization american media, biden showed deep reservations and acknowledged decisions simply may not come in time. >> we're just not, you know it's not quite there yet, and it may not get there in time to make it feasible to be able to run, and succeed, because there are certain windows that will close. but if that's it that's it. but it's not like i can rush it. it's not like it either happens or it doesn't happen. i know that's not satisfying anybody. but people who've been there, i know they understand. >> that interview coming as the hill reports the top democrats, including former administration officials, strategists, and donors, quote, increasingly believe biden is going to enter the race. today hillary clinton will unveil her plan to curb

prescription drug costs. this after she used a speech in louisiana yesterday to aggressively defend the president's health care law. >> all the republican candidates for president are determined to get rid of the affordable care act. actually republicans in congress have tried to repeal it 54 times. 54 times. well, i'll tell you, i'm not going to let them rip away the progress we've made. i'm not going to let them tear up that law, kick 16 million people off their health coverage, and force this country to start the health care debate all over again. not on my watch. >> and in keeping with her message yesterday, clinton tweeting out a link to a "new york times" story about the price of a 62-year-old drug used to treat life threatening infections skyrocketing overnight. from $13.50 per pill to $750 per

pill. she said quote, price gouging like this and especially drug market, is outrageous. tomorrow i'll lay out a plan to take it on. clinton's gouging comments were enough to move the markets, biotech stocks tanked yesterday after clinton pledged to go after the pharmaceutical industries. cnbc's steve sedgwick joins us live from london. steve, clinton lays out her plan to rein in drug costs later today, so this story is far from over. >> yeah absolutely. and it could go with the market taking no chances yesterday. they knocked $15 billion off the value of these big biotech pharmaceutical companies. for instance we saw valiant shares falling 5.4% biogen shares as well who's got a multiple sclerosis drug which costs around $55,000 a year fell by 5.6%.

the broken clavicle suffered in the third quarter in sunday's win over the eagles. romo will likely return to the field this season he's still expected to miss eight weeks of action. and bears quarterback jay cutler could miss the next two weeks with a strained hamstring. that knocked him out of sunday's loss to the cardinals. espn reported that that news just hours after chicago head coach john fox told the media that cutler's injury was, quote not real severe. as we mentioned the philadelphia eagles dropped to 0-2 after a bad loss division rival dallas on sunday. and now the city is seeking some holy help for its team. yesterday's philadelphia daily news front page pleads for some divine intervention as the city readies for the pope's arrival. this after a petition circulated even before the season began asking the pontiff to bless quarterback stan bradford.
