other." jeb bush had more to say yesterday. >> next week mr. trump is probably going to say that fdr was around when japan attacked pearl harbor. it's what you do after that matters and that's the sign of leadership. it's not the -- does anybody actually blame my brother for the attacks on 9/11? if they do, they're totally marginalizing our society. it's what he did afterwards that mattered. you don't have to have your last name bush to be able to understand that. >> but trump wouldn't let that be the last word. tweeting "jeb bush should stop trying to defend his brother and focus on his own shortcomings and how to fix them. also, rubio is hitting him hard." and "jeb why do your brother attack and destabilize the middle east and iraq when there were no weapons of mass destruction? bad info?" the top democrat on the house benghazi committee is countering the republican chairman's claim

that an e-mail to hillary clinton's private server exposed the name of a human intelligence source for the cia. in a letter on october 7th, chairman trey gowdy describing an e-mail with the name of a human source which he said is "some of the most protected information in our intelligence community, the release of which could jeopardize not only national security but human lives." ranking member elijiah cummings said the cia advised the committee on saturday that the information was not sensitive. cummings wrote gowdy yesterday "to further inflate your claim you placed your own redactions over the name of the individual with the words "retacted due to sources and methods. "to be clear these redactions were not made and these words were not added any any agency of the federal government responsible for enforcing classification guidelines. unfortunately you sent your letter on october 7th without checking first with the cia. now that we have done so, we have learned that your accusations were incorrect."

gowdy resisted the claims that the principal mission of his committee is to hurt hillary clinton politically. in an interview with politico posted last night gowdy said that after the attacks on his committee's work, "these have been among the worst weeks of my life." even with the benghazi hearing bearing down, hillary clinton's campaign is continuing to show signs of momentum in the wake of a strong debate performance last week. new "boston globe" suffolk university poll out of new hampshire shows clinton ahead of sanders 37% to 35%, one of the state she's been leading in consistently up to the run-up to the first debate. the democratic challenger was on the trail in iowa over the weekend where he seemed to take on a more combative tone toward some of his 2016 rivals. he went after hillary clinton for her shift on the transpacific partnership and responded to attacks from donald trump who last week called him a communist and a maniac.

>> well, if i had to respond to every absurd thing that donald trump said i'd spend my whole hive doing it. i want to raise the issue of taxes. trump raise the issue. what we've seen in the last 30 years is a massive redistribution of wealth. unfortunately, it's gone in the wrong direction. it's gone from the middle class and working families to donald trump and his friends, the top one-tenth of 1% and let me be clear, if we're going to make public colleges and universities tuition free as i believe we have to do, in the 21st century, we are going to have a tax on wall street speculation. yes, we are going to ask trump and his billionaire friends to pay more in taxes. yes we are going to end these -- >> what rate? >> we'll come one a rate but a daned lot higher than it is right now. one of the fun aspects about running for president is you can kind of force discussion on

issues that the establishment folks would prefer not to talk about, and sometimes without naming any names, sometimes you kind of force other candidates to come on board. auto i'll not naming any names here, and who from day one was opposed to this disastrous transpacific partnership agreement. and again, without mentioning any names, wouldn't want to do that, i am glad that another candidate has come on board in opposition, although we could have used her help when the vote was what we needed to prevent 60 votes, would have been more helpful. >> and that is tack from sanders is similar to the argument laid out in a memo written by president obama's 2008 campaign and published last week in "the new yorker." here's what clinton had to say in response. >> among other things, the memo said that you are driven by

politics, not conviction, and you're constantly shifting, dodging and changing positions to satisfy the politics of the moment. that's kind of the same wrap on you from your opponents now. do you reject it outright or do you see why some people might feel that way? >> well i can see why people try to come up with ways of attacking me, that seems to be part of the landscape. it happened when i ran for the senate. it happened obviously again when i ran for president, but i have been the same person. i have the same values. i have the same principles. there isn't anybody, anybody that i know in politics who hasn't changed a position from time to time, except some republicans who are impervious to evidence and change circumstances. >> and all eyes are on vice president joe biden over the weekend and what many are calling one of the clearer signs yet that he could still say yes to a 2016 run. on friday biden spoke by phone with the president of the powerful international association of firefighters, harold schaitburger and a source

familiar with the call tells nbc news biden told him he is seriously considering jumping in. another source said biden's message during the call knows he has the political pieces in place and confident he can raise the funds. now he just has to make a final gut decision. that source said that schaitburger was left with the impression that biden will likely run. the vice president accepted a human rights award from the greek orthodox church in new york saturday night. he made no mention of his future plans but he did pay tribute to his late son, beau. >> for so many of us, it is our faith that sees us through times of trouble. it is our faith that urges us to rise each and every morning and no matter how bleak things look to put one foot in front of the other, as my son, beau, used to say, just keep moving forward.

it's been my faith that has given me refuge and reassurance. >> and in a bid to ease tensions between israelis and palestinians, secretary of state john kerry will meet with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu and palestinian president mahmoud abbas this week. kerry is expected to meet with netanyahu in germany and after that, he'll travel to the middle east to meet with abbas. the meetings come amid a wave of deadly violence. just last night, a gunman opened fire at a bus station in southern israel, killing an israeli soldier and wounding at least ten other people. israeli officials have acknowledged that a bystander who had been mistaken as the attacker's accomplice was shot by a security guard and beaten by israelis. as a way to stop some of the violence, israeli police have built a controversial wall between a palestinian neighborhood and a jewish

neighborhood, effectively dividing east jerusalem. new york mayor bill de blasio was also in israel over the weekend, at one point he stopped at a hospital in jerusalem to meet with several israeli stabbing victims. while in jerusalem, de blasio called for an end to the violence. and the top leader of the al qaeda linked corazon group has been killed in a u.s. led air strike strike. he is the fifth leader killed in the last four months. the syrian army backed by russian air strikes is taking up a major offensive in the strategic city of aleppo. the wall street journal calls this one of the clearest signs yet of how russia's recent military intervention has emboldened president bashar al assad and his loyalists. the russian ministry of defense releasing new video yesterday of air strikes in the region. officials say russian air forces carried out 39 combat flights and hit 51 targets in 24 hours.

now let's turn to business where the world's second largest economy reported better than expected growth in the third quarter, but it was still china's slowest since the global financial crisis. cnbc's nancy holgrave joins us live from london. what do the numbers tell us about beijing? >> well, amy, as you suggested, it is the first time that we've seen the growth for the world's second largest economy dip below the crucial 7% figure since the financial crisis. some concerns on that front and largely tied to the fact the government in beijing sticks to the 7% growth target so this number is calling that into question. it was still better than feekt and help explain why we're seeing somewhat of a positive market reaction in europe and mainland chinese market. people confident it's not quite as bad as feared but nevertheless there is still some concerns when we look at the trade data out last week and some figures within the gdp growth element. some say it's weak enough for

the central bank and china to come forward with further stim his. that would also mean good news for the economy and for investors looking towards china as well. but again, given that we've seen continued slowdown, fears over the currency, there has been some question raised about the credibility of this data as well. another thing investors will be keeping an eye to today is news from amazon, as amazon says they are filing legal complaints just over 1,000 people who they say posted fake reviews on the website and this is not the first time we've seen amazon do this. in april they filed complaints as well. concerned about what fake reviews mean for the brand's integrity, comes ahead of results from amazon due on the earnings front thursday. >> nancy hulgrave live from london, thank you very much. still ahead, does larry david play bernie sanders better than bernie sanders? the candidate reacts to the "snl" version of himself. and the patriots and colts meet for the first time since deflate gate and it was not a
