in game five. k.c. rallied and burst out for five runs in the 12th to put new york away. we'll have full highlights coming up in sports. but the other top stories this morning, last night representatives of nearly all the campaigns pushed the national committee aside in an unprecedented gathering to discuss their commands for the coming contests. it was mediated by ted ginsburg who has advised on the general election debate process. according to a draft letter distributed by ginsburg inside the meeting, the representatives considered a list of format demands ranging from the forms of questions to the types of microphones and tax mum temperature inside the room. that's 67 degrees, by the way. they sanctioned and negotiate the debates with the networks were left out of the meeting. while specifics have yet to emerge, the consensus is that the campaigns will take the lead going forward. >> the rnc is still going to be a partner with the campaigns and

all of this. all the campaigns wanted that. the rnc will have a role. but the campaigns will be doing format negotiations. >> yesterday the rnc replaced its point pepper on the negotiation process. on friday, after last week's wildly criticized cnbc debate, they suspended the next debate hosted by nbc news and telemundo. while debates are meant to include tough questions and contrast candidates's visions and policies for the future of america, cnbc moderators engaged in a series of gotcha questions and they were designed to embarrass our candidates. nbc news responded to the letter saying, this is a disappointed development. however, along with our debate broadcast partners at telemundo, we will work in good faith to resolve this matter with the represent party. meanwhile, in iowa this weekend,

ted cruz made his own proposal for the debates. >> let melee out a radical proposition. how about if we say from now on, if you have never voted in a republican primary in your life, you don't get to moderate a republican primary debate. >> new national polls finds donald trump locked in i a tight race with ben carson. the latest poll conducted by survey monkey finds trump and carson tied at 26%. senator ted cruz is 16 points back at 10%, followed by marco rubio at 9% and jeb bush at 4%. 24% of republican voters who watched last week's debate felt cruz performed the best, leading rubio and trump. yet when asked who would best handle the economy when judging from the debate, trump was the clear leader, registering 41% to
