entirely. the staging was based on four of the most recent national polls, but critics note that senator graham's name was not even listed in the nbc news/"wall street journal" poll. and jeb bush tweeted that he s disagrees with the rules that prevent graham voice from being heard saying, quote, his foreign policy message is an important one in particular and campaigning in new hampshire before the decision yesterday christie said he's undeterred. >> i'm going to be debating somebody on tuesday night whether it's the folks that i've been debating with before or other folks. i don't really care in one respect. put a podium out here on the foliage and get a few people out here. i'll debate them here. there's 90 plus days to go to new hampshire. we're moving numbers in new hampshire, and we're just going to keep working hard. >> ben carson responded to skepticism over comments he made about the pyramids saying they were built by the biblical figure and not for egyptian pharaohs. >> some people believe in the bible, like i do, and don't find

that to be silly at all and believe that god created the earth and don't find that to be silly at all. the second progressives try to ridicule it and they're welcome to do that. >> carson was criticized for his claims about american history in a facebook post wednesday, carson compared his lack of political experience to the founding fathers saying, quote, every signer of the declaration of independence had no elected office experience. what they had was a deep belief that freedom is a gift from god. the claim was rated false by "the washington post," and carson changed the post to say they had no experience in federal office. at the time the federal government did not exist. now carson was also under scrutiny for reported discrepancies in his life story particularly the ones about the violent episodes in his youth before he turned to religion. including the attempted stabbing of a friend named bob, which he wrote about in his best-selling autobiography. but a number of carson's chimedhood friends told cnn they had no recollection of him being hot tempered or violent leading carson to acknowledge some of the names were made up.

>> i don't want to expose people without their knowledge, but, remember, when i was 14 when the knifing episode occurred, that's when i changed. that's when most of those people began to know who i was. they didn't know me before that. one of the ones where i threw a rock and broke someone's glasses, that occurred when i was maybe about 7 or 8. the stabbing -- attempted stabbing incident occurred when i was 13 or 14. trying to hit my mother in the head with a hammer, that was around the same time as the stabbing incident. unless they were there at that time, why would they know about that? that's very silly. everyone has childhood memories of things they do that other people unless they were specifically involved would know about. i don't know why that's hard for people to under. >> and carson's top rival donald trump has picked up on the story

tweeting, it is either a total fabrication or, if true, even worse, trying to hit his mother over the head with a hammer or stabbing a friend. now carson has also examined a potential ly untapped source of supporters for republicans, black voters. but at a book signing yesterday carson said he had reservations about the ad. >> there are people who felt that was a way to do things and they're entitled to their opinions. >> what about you? >> you know, i support them in doing that, but i probably would have taken a little different approach. >> both donald trump and ben r carson will soon be getting secret service protection according to a dhs spokesperson. a number of factors were taken into consideration including national polling numbers, the amount of contributions received, and the threat environment. they are among the earliest candidates to get the protection. president obama was given secret service protection earlier than any other candidate in u.s. history. now hillary clinton was on the west coast last night picking up an endorsement from l.a. mayor eric garcetti. she joined jimmy kimmel. they talked about heavy scrutiny to her potential rivals.

airport security measures abroad after that russian jetliner crash in egypt. the obama administration says an announcement could come as early as today. currently no u.s. airlines fly to, from, or over egypt's sinai peninsula. during a radio interview president obama discussed the likelihood that a bomb brought down that plane. >> we know that the procedures we have here in the united states are different than some of the procedures that existed for outbound and inbound flights there and we're going to spend a lot of time just making sure that our own investigators and our own intelligence community figures out exactly what's going on before we make any definitive pronouncements. it is certainly possible that there was a bomb onboard. >> the kremlin has called the rush to call it a bomb premature and a mechanical failure hasn't been ruled out. new insight into just how badly a plan to train syrian rebels failed.

according to the "usa today," the pentagon spent $384 million on the program or $2 million a fighter. of the 180 syrians vetted, trained and equipped, the paper reports only 95 are in syria today. this is the latest from the pentagon in september. >> can you tell us what the total number of trained fighters remains? >> it's a small number. the ones that are in the fight we're talking four or five. >> the training program was canceled last month but the u.s. is still providing weapons and equipment. the pentagon also disputes the $2 million per trainee figure saying it's more like $30,000 per fighter. now to a new report on the air raid on doctors without borders hospital in afghanistan. there was no fighting in the area at the time according to the findings from the medical charity.

they also gave grisly details about the hour long bombardment saying patients burned in their beds, medical staff were decapitated and lost limbs and others were shot by a circling ac-130 gunship while fleeing the burning building. president obama has apologized d for the attack that left 30 people dead. doctors without borders has called it a war crime and is insisting on an international probe. now the story of an illinois cop who authorities say may have killed himself to cover up years of embezzlement is getting more disturbing by the day. police say text messages from months before his carefully staged suicide show that joe gliniewicz tried to arrange for a high-ranking gang member to put a hit on a village administrator he feared would expose him as a thief. investigators also found small packets of cocaine in his desk. while gliniewicz suggested the hitman might plant something on him, the administrator of the drugs are not thought to be part of the plot. authorities say gliniewicz stole tens of thousands of dollars from the police explorer program to pay for his mortgage and

45% decline since 2010. all right. now let's turn to business where new york's attorney general is investigating whether exxon mobil deliberately misled people about climate change. jeff, what are these allegations all about here? >> this is fascinating, louis. the real question, has exxon mobil been full of hot air when it comes to its position on climate change? the new york attorney general is trying to suggest their own scientific research points out that climate change is real, does exist, and is a consequence of what's happening with burning fossil fuels and, of course, exxon being a major producer of oil this would have significant implications. i think this is one to keep your eye on. exxon has already said there is no case to answer here, but the attorney general is clearly on a
