eighth individual, that eighth attacker salah abdeslam, 26, a belgium national is not part of the activity that happened that they are reporting on tonight. that is the headline, but 16 arrested in those police raids that our own ron mott was telling us just before we had to go to their statements, and nbc's ron mott is still with us. ron, early reports that it was six and now hearing that it is 16 individuals, and they are making no correlation here to what happened in paris as of yet. but this entire activity set was a place that you were at, it appears from with what they are saying there, and describe it that it was only four or five hours ago that we first learned about this? >> that is correct. and we have to, because of the statement by the federal prosecutor, and by the way his name is eric van dersit, and the

police apparently fired into the vehicle and the driver was wounded an arrested. it is not at this location, but apparently occurred in the molenbeek area of brussels, and so 16 arrests in all, and sounds like multiple locations around the city tonight. as you mentioned, salah abdeslam was not among those arrested and taken into custody, and tomorrow, and today rather, because it is past midnight here, and whether any of the announcements with the links of ongoing investigation into the alleged plots they are trying to break up for terror here in the city of brus sells to see if any of the 16 people arrested may have had some involvement in that. that is the latest here,

richard. as you obviously mention ed the headline is that the person that they are most interested in apprehending was not among the 16. >> and ron n the minute we have is here, another piece of information they gave us, no weapons found, no bombs. where you are at, what did you hear if anything? >> well, very little. it is little activity and most of the interesting color from that particular location where people were getting past the police barricades and getting a mouthful from the police. that is pretty much all we could report from that location. there were at the very end two cop cars whizzing past our location with the lights flashing which seemed to signal the end of that particular location. we don't know what went down there, but apparently, you know, there was an arrest effected in that area. >> right. a good parallel to what was happening in as well paris, although you did not necessarily

belgium as we continue the cover the paris attacks, and now at this moment jim cavenaugh our nbc law enforcement expert. and the reason we want the bring you in, jim, for those just joining u and you as well, they have just announced in the last 15 minutes, the arrest of 16 individuals. they did not find the key number eight. the eighth attacker, and the the manhunt now going on for more than a week for abdeslam, and the interesting part, jim, they found no weapon, no bombs and yet they did have a vehicle according to the reports actually drive towards the law enforcement officials there. what are you making of the facts that have been given by the officials just within the last ten minutes, jim? >> well, yes, richard, it is looking to me like they are going right to the heart of the people who are maybe harboring abdeslam. he is who they want. maybe he had a suicide belt on, and they really want him bad.

they have done 800 raids, and what happens when you do multiple raids like that, you get a whole lot of information and center in on the key play s players, and that is what happened in saint denis, the tips and the information. this is is a follow-up to that. they want him bad. remember, he drove to the three suicide bombers to the soccer stadium and came south. the brother this, we have since found out went into the cafe, and his suicide vest low ordered as we say in the business, and it did not completely detonate. it did not kill any citizens and blew a foot hole in the abdoemen and his brother died. so the bomb on his brother, was a malfunction. and now, did salis is a la -- bomb not detonate or was he like

the tactical leader abaaoud who was going to live to create more savagery? >> well, the part is that the law enforcement officials were so clear in thanking the public and the media for the standing down, if you will if they were in the area or if they had access to pictures of the operations that were going down, there in belgium in the last at least five or six hour sh, and it is so important i guess that as they go through it that they asked for the very acceptance of those in the public, and something that we didn't necessarily see in paris. >> right. you want to get on top of somebody quickly, and move before they are there and look at the saint denis raid, and the tactical team used an explosive entry, but when they put it on the door, it was armored and that alerted the occupants inside to strap the suicide vests and grab the kalashnikovs and engage in the battle.

if they had breached the doors, the tactical officers could have gotten on top them of them before the suicide vest, and they say, don't alert the people in the area, and don't alert them, and they won't have time to get them to the arms and we can get to them and secure it. and these in belgium were quietly, and no firearms there, and they are looking for the associates who could be harboring salah. they are worried that he could carry out an attack by himself or associate, and if he is there, helping to hide, and if not, he is slipping on a cord and trying to make it to syria. the future is bleak, because when they recruit you to the death cult, you are expendable. >> and many are looking for him. and his bro her thrs' interview today so informative and
