3:05 am

3:06 am
>> donald trump did retweet a question as soon as he sells the pageant it goes off the rails. we need you mr. trump. >> can you imagine what today would have been like if donald trump were still running the pageant. hold a big huge press conference, a thousand press people there, he would call steve harvey the biggest stupid loser ever. he would say i'm going to pay him money to go back to school and he would name her good will ambassador. that's a trump touch. >> okay. >> yes and then the poll numbers would go up.
3:07 am
>> we have in washington with us washington anchor for b.b.c. world news america caddy kay. >> they gave it to miss watford instead of miss oxford. >> we've got so much to get to. here we go. the third democratic debate was saturday night in front of the crowd hillary clinton, bernie sanders and donald trump was referenced to nine times throughout the whole night. the only g.o.p. candidate to be called out on the topic of isis. hilly clinton called trump the best recruiter. >> we also need to make sure
3:08 am
that the discriminatory messages trump is sending around the world don't fall. he is becoming isis's best recruiter. they are going to people showing videos of donald trump insulting islam and muslims in order to recruit more radical judiihadis. >> it's just another hillary lie. whether it's trips where she's gunned down in a helicopter. she's a liar. she made this up in thin air. >> did she? it appears to have not been true. >> it's possible it happened.

3:10 am
>> she said last night we're finally where we need to be on isis. >> we're not. >> oh my gosh. >> with dead bodies in paris, with dead bodies in san bernardino and no plan on how to deal with it, mrs. clinton is mrs. happy talk and wants to hat happy talk her way to the presidency. it's are you going to believe me or your lying eyes? >> not a great weekend about hil hillary clinton. she made up the stuff about trump. she takes friday as if john kerry hasn't existed over the past several years. >> she referenced her work with trying to get a resolution done three years ago and indicated finally it was passing friday and never mentioned the
3:11 am
secretary of sta secretary of state. i read the transcript. >> i don't think it was a bad weekend for her. she laid down nomination in the general election. sanders did not break through and as you referenced, the ratings weren't high. >> there isn't a nomination fight is there. >> you had an american party take every measure they could. it was football dwgames and opening night of star wars, holiday season. seriously, if you had worked any harder to not get people watching your candidates debate, you couldn't have done it.
3:12 am
>> yeah, and isn't the next one on a sunday night too. even worse. at what point do they call out the democratic party and the clinton campaign? it's because the process is really disappointing. >> there's no nominating press. everybody's decided bernie sanders has had this brief run where it looked like it was going to give her a contest and that seems to have faded and hillary clinton is almost presumed to be the democratic nominee at this point. the debates are still worth
3:13 am
watching. that's why these debates are worth watching. >> i was going to say it's fascinating the dnc isn't hiding which side its on. the minute they have a chance to defend hillary clinton they go all in. >> i am also uncomfortable about hillary clinton's campaign saying she's a victim when she has data issues. i don't know if breech is the word but not following policy to the point of covering whatever.
3:14 am
>> i guess it's really powerful. >> hillary clinton is a great candidate. don't put your people on sunday morning. show up, be in the game. get better. you don't know what donald trump can stir up if he wins. >> being in the bubble, mika, you can see it. when hillary was pushed to the wall a couple of months ago she fee finally started getting better. she's been in a bubble again and getting more inside the bubble and now making things up in debates and taking credit for what john kerry has been doing for months, years and we're seeing a return to some of the worst instincts because she is the candidate in the plastic bubble. >> new polling of the democratic
3:15 am
field taken before saturday night's debate shows a tight race in two of the new polling greats. they have bernie sanders just five points back of hillary clinton inside the margin of era. in new hampshire sanders is ahead of clinton by 14 points. that's a seven point swing in his favor since november. >> maybe other people are noticing. >> i think so. i'm the only one who says it and then she doesn't show up. she should. at this point if you can't take us. >> it's not about us. >> before i saw those, this is the question i was going to ask you. he's leading big in new hampshire. what does that tell you?
3:16 am
this is not a coronation. if bernie sanders competes or wins iowa he's got a race. >> a lot is driven by the fact joe biden has been removed from the polls. so you see an increase in hillary clinton's poll numbers but it's not come at the expense of bernie sanders. i think the tougher question for sanders is even if he wins iowa and wins iowa and new hampshire does he have the infrastructure you need beyond there? his campaign still remains significantly less funded than hillary clinton's. that's not the say he can ride a big wave. >> mark, you said it for some
3:17 am
time. hillary could lose iowa and new hampshire and these polls show that. >> the night of iowa trump will be the biggest story no matter what happens. he'll either win or lose iowa. sanders, you know, this is an unpredictable year and sanders is close enough in these poles, you just don't know what the enthusiasm gets. the democratic low rated debates is part of the guided enthusiasm problem within the party and sanders may have a bigger turn out. the clinton people can't know she's going to win. >> so let's look at the new polling on the republican side that shows donald trump's lead growing since last week's fifth g.o.p. debate. it shows trump hitting a new high at 39 pe%. >> plus 11. carson minus nine. >> the poll also shows
3:18 am
republican primary voters feels trump has the best chance of beating hillary clinton in a general election by a margin of nearly 30 points. they also say trump is known to be commander in chief. he's the top pick in this category at 31%. that number up 12 points since last month. despite his strength other candidates perform better than trump when all voters put their match ups with hillary clinton. >> that's the thing. we can take that down. all registers voters don't vote. one out of three or four vote. let's go back to the original poll. a couple of things to say here. 14 points. can you put that back up? he's up by 11 points here. marco. >> 21 points.
3:19 am
i think there's two things going on now. first of all, they're in denial about trump's support in the establishment. their big thing is they're doing a lot of polls but the voters won't vote. the other thing they're not in denial about which is a big problem is four establishment candidates fighting hard in new hampshire are dividing the vote and no one can catch him if he's got four established candidates. they all got a claim on that says i need to stay in because i'm the one who wants to stop it. >> in cbs news a new poll has
3:20 am
trump up 31%. >> it's becoming an extremely exciting race. we have a lot to talk about. we will play that for you. jeb bush says his place in the polls is a relief and then he goes rogue and attacks donald trump out of the middle of nowhere. it seems like an awkward last minute desperate jab but maybe it's not. we'll see. plus we'll talk to kristin about how trump is being devicive

this next item, our stories for the run down has slugs on them. this one is called unhappy warrior. over the weekend jeb bush made some surprising comments. just out of the blue and random. didn't make sense with what he was asked about. about his place in the presidential pack. he took a shot at the front runner in what you might call an unguarded planned unguarded

moment. >> some of the people supporting you and been wondering about your campaign say that in this resent mode why you've been more vocal about donald trump you found your voice. >> it is liberating to be able to post up against a guy not qualified to be president and so share your vision about the better way. >> six months ago people thought you were the front runner. >> i hated that. >> you hated that? >> yeah. i feel much better back here. i always thought there was going to be a high expectation for me because i have a brother that was president and a father that was president. that higher expectation was important to realize. so being a front runner made me feel people were going to begin to say this guy is dancing right through this. i have to go earn it. i have higher expectations on me than people have of me.
3:26 am
it doesn't bother me a bit that the expectations are high. i want to win which means you garner momentum when it matters. >> just one other thing. i got to get this off my chest. donald trump is a jerk. a guy like that should not be the front running candidate for our party. i feel better now. i gave myself therapy there. >> you didn't like that? >> no. he's probably the best candidate, right. it's just awful. it's too late. >> what's awful? >> it's five months too late. >> damn it. >> we're in late december now. you get 45 days for christie to

3:28 am
but if you're looking at momentum and projecture and a strong closing message in new hampshire christie right now is well positioned to do it. he is the best brawler in the race and this is going to be a brawl. >> can i ask you about kasich. >> we all have to go back to iowa back in 2007 and 2008 and just like a horse race, the two horses bump off and there goes john kerry flying ahead of everybody. >> it is the case even with 45 days to go as we head towards the holidays, new hampshire and i are voters narrowing down to people would tlook like winners. you got to come into the new

runner. everybody knows what a cruz or jeb voter looks like but a rubio voter, anybody could be or nobody could be. i think the challenge he's got is where does he win? that's a message christie has been hitting on long before it was the poplar message to hit on. >> if there's a state built for chris christie, he's going town hall to town hall and talking to the people. he's good.
3:31 am
>> didn't he have the morning show bumped. he said i'd rather be lucky than good. it's exactly what he's going to say in january about cruz, rubio and trump. those other two guys are still trying to figure out what they're going to say. >> the campaign in new hampshire on the republican side is going to be very interesting. its giving christie's tempo and tener as a candidate. mark indicated he's a brawler and going to go after it. >> i think the sprint home in january is going to be an incredible one.
