good morning. i'm dara brown. super tuesday is here, but will it be donald trump's grandest day yet? and for the republicans, 600 delegates are up for grabs and more than a quarter of all primary delegates. a pro marco rubio pac is slamming trump on his cnn interview and he blamed it on a bad earpiece. jeff sessions urged him to support fair treatment and 2012 nominee mitt romney called the interview disqualifying and not in the character of america. at a rally in radford, virginia, black lives matter protesters were escorted out and a photographer was slammed to ground men he tried to leave the mandated press pen. but the front-runner continues to nab doefrment -- endorsements

including nascar's ceo and several drivers. >> if the people that like and watch nascar vote for trump, they can cancel the election right now. nobody can win. nobody. >> the latest cnn/orc national poll showed donald trump ahead outpacing rubio and cruz. cruz is pushing hard for a large share of the delegates. the senator has 27,000 volunteers across the state and including eight u.s. congressmen, 11 state senators and 43 state representatives. and both current and former texas governors. but he is not predicting a sweep. >> tomorrow i believe we'll do very well here in the state of texas. our campaign is tom campaign that has beaten donald trump and this can beat donald trump. what i think is likely, come tomorrow night, donald trump will have a whole bunch of delegates that we will have a whole bunch of delegates and there will be a big, big drop-off between us and everybody else in the field.

and that in turn will effectively narrow this field. >> and with support for the front-runner transcending even pizza, it's an uphill battle for the rest of the pack. we'll know if any of the candidates can take down the front-runner with 11 gop states in play. and the democrats have 11 states in play. bernie sanders facing the fight of a lifetime with hillary clinton pulling away in the delegate count and another 1,000 on the line today. sanders is hoping for a super change in fortune. at a rally in monday he supported the showing at the polls. >> in ten months if you -- a few things have changed. here in minnesota, you can make that change even more significant. minnesota can play a huge -- dare i use that word. we can win, no question here in

minnesota. if we have a turnout. >> he pushed a similar narrative in massachusetts imploring people to turn out and vote. he desperately needs a big day to stay competitive. some good news, sanders leads clinton by five points in oklahoma. though it falls within the margin of error the former secretary of state beat then candidate obama there by 24 points in 2008. the sanders campaign announced it took in more than $41 million in february raking in over $5 million yesterday alone. clinton on the other hand continues to look ahead to the general election and her likely opponent sounding an alternative to the front-runner at four campaign stops monday without mentioning his name. >> i don't think america has ever stopped being great. what we need to do now is make america whole. america never stopped being great. we need to make america whole again. america never stopped being

the procession passed by. officer guidron's funeral will be at noon. ronald hamilton has been charged for the murder. erin andrews wept openly in court when she took the stand in her civil trial. earlier in the day the man convicted of stalking her testified telling the court how he altered the peep hole on andrews' hotel room. now as morgan radford report it was andrews' turn. >> reporter: erin andrews still haunted by the video that she says has damaged her career. >> i feel so embarrassed and i'm so ashamed. >> reporter: her chance to look jurors, seven women and five men, in the eye and tell her side of the story. >> my naked body was on the front page of "the new york post" like they put bars over the body parts. my girlfriend was running around new york city throwing coffee on all the papers just because she

felt so bad. >> reporter: just hours earlier andrews left the courtroom as her stalker explained the sordid details of the day he secretly recorded her. in two taped deposition video, michael barrett explained how he altered the peep hole. >> i waited for the opportunity. >> was it your intent to get her without clothes on? >> yes. >> reporter: her mother paula also testified describing the embarrassment her daughter continues to face. >> it's a nightmare that doesn't stop. we just kept telling her it's not your fault. you're a victim. you have been -- you have been assaulted. >> reporter: andrews devastated. >> it upsets me, it's so embarrassing. it was my private time. i never thought this would happen. i never thought a hotel would let somebody next to me without telling me. >> reporter: that was nbc's morgan radford reporting. and president obama awarded

the medal of honor to a member of seal team six in what he called a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of one of the elite warriors. senior operator, edward buyers was awarded it for actions during a 2012 mission to rescue an american doctor held hostage by the taliban. after hiking in the mountains of afghanistan for hours his team approached the building holding the doctor. nicholas check went in first and he was shot and later died. byers shot and killed two guards and disabled a third in the room where the doctor was being held. he heard the doctor call out and laid on top of him to protect him and subduing another one by the throat until the rest of the team arrived. byers says he didn't accept the award for himself but for the entire community. >> it's for the brotherhood. it's for everything that we have sacrificed since 9/11 in defense

of our country. >> byers has done 11 overseas deployments and nine combat tours and has two purple hearts. a federal judge in new york says the fbi cannot force apple to open a locked iphone. it's important to note that the ruling is in relation to a brooklyn drug dealer case, but can be viewed as a boost to apple's case in california to unlock a phone used by one of the san bernardino terrorists. the judge can't order apple to unlock the phone because congress rejected a bill requiring companies to make data on a locked iphone available to law enforcement. meanwhile, the house judiciary committee will hold a hearing on security versus privacy and encryption. james comey and bruce seawell are expected to testify. veteran actor george kennedy whose film career spanned nearly six decades has died. he won the academy award as a chain gang prisoner in 1967's

welcome back. 22 million people at risk of seeing severe storms today, maybe isolated brief tornadoes. of the voting states we have arkansas, tennessee, alabama and georgia all within the risk. the possibility of the lines going outside the polling places and then severe storms rolling through will send everyone back to they're cars and looking for shelters. that's what we want to avoid today and avoid any tornados if possible. let's take you through the forecast here, here's all the states. there's a winter storm headed for new england tonight. vermont and massachusetts, no problem whatsoever. snow and ice holds off until after midnight. in the south we mentioned the severe weather threat moving through tennessee during the afternoon hours. heading through alabama late afternoon into the evening and then georgia after dark type of storms for you. fast moving storms will last a

half hour or so. we'll clear it out early in arkansas. same in oklahoma. texas, you look fine. windy and gusty. cold in minnesota, but clear conditions for colorado and also up there in north dakota. alaska looks fine too. again, dara, the biggest problem will be with the severe storms rolling through tennessee and then late today into areas of alabama and georgia. >> let's hope it doesn't stop voters from going to the polls. >> it may send them skcurrying, but it will fine. tragedy at an ohio school yesterday where a student opened fire and hit two others. two others were injured in the chaos. according to police the 14-year-old suspect tossed his handgun as he fled the building. he has been caught and charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and making terroristic threats. for first time in ten years, supreme court justice thomas

spoke and he asked ten questions about a federal gun law. perhaps thomas felt it was time to speak up with antonin scalia gone. in southern california, police conducted an hours long chase of a hummer whose driver had allegedly kidnapped his girl friend and two boys. the driver released the girlfriend and the kids and help he flew uphill into the dark of night as shots were fired. police are still searching for the suspect. and check out this dramatic surveillance video of a car barrelling into a gas station in arlington, texas, it knocks the gas pump to the ground which causes it to burst into flames. the driver was able to pull her passenger out of the car before firefighters arrived and put out the flames. and today is the day, astronaut scott kelly will be returning to earth after setting a record for the longest time in space -- 340 days. he is due to land in kazakhstan. making sense of super

of him. we don't have any idea, what does carson bring to the trump tick? >> well, ben carson said he's planning on staying in the race until the end because he doesn't think we the people haven't voted. not all states have voted so he's staying to the end. what does that do to the gop? >> well, it's not going to have that much effect because he's not getting that many votes. taken together, they add up to a fair number of votes. kasich says why should i go? why not the best, why not me? all of these candidates look in the mirror. they still see if not a future president at least someone who wants to be part of the game and i don't see that any of them has an incentive to leave any time soon. >> somebody in the game, hillary clinton looking all the way to the face-off with donald trump. how is she going to sway the voters because she's eyeing the moderate republicans to move over to democratic side. how does she do that? >> so fascinating. and catholic republicans too. keep an eye on them.
