hillary clinton hit 4 out of 5. trump swept last night's contest by huge margins. he got a whopping 64% of the vote in rhode island and a massive 61% in delaware. trump picked up 109 more delegates as he edges closer to securing the nomination. >> i consider myself the presumptive nominee, absolutely. anybody -- senator cruz and governor kasich should really get out of the race. they have -- at all, they have no path. and they should get out of the race. as far as i'm concerned it's over. the two guys cannot win. no path. >> well, steve kornacki explains how he can reach the delegate number before a possible contested convention. >> that road to 1,237 for trump opened up wide. take a look at this. he came in to the night with 845, trying to get to 1,237.

it looks like he's probably going to get roughly 110 of the bound delegates that were up for grabs tonight. that would take him to 955. the unbound delegates the 54 in pennsylvania, this very unofficial right now. but it looks like about two-thirds of the unbound are going to be people who say they support donald trump or people who say they'll vote for the winner of their district and donald trump is sweeping pennsylvania right now. this is a massive trump landslide. if you added in 35 of those unbound, that 955 he'd close out tonight with 990. 990 with this to go. these are the states still to come on the republican side. you mentioned indiana, next week it's all about indiana right now. the way those delegate rules work there. if you win even narrow victory in indiana by a point, by a fraction of a point, you're going to get the bulk of those delegates. this is a winner take all here in new jersey. trump looking strong in west virginia. trump has a chance to get a

bunch here in new jersey. proportional states up here. if he comes in to may with 990 delegates there are a couple of different pathways that are going to be open to him to get to 1,237. >> well, this afternoon in washington, trump will deliver his first policy speech complete with the teleprompter and a professionally written speech. things the donald has avoided. the focus will be on foreign policy while touching on other topics including jobs. last night, trump took a shot at hillary clinton specifically though about her gender. >> i think the only card she has is the woman's card. she's got nothing else going. and frankly, if hillary clinton were a man, i don't think she'd get 5% of the vote. the only thing she's got going is the woman's card. and the beautiful thing is, women don't like her. okay? >> not so fast. the latest nbc news/"wall street journal" poll shows trump's

unfavorability rating at women at nearly 70% and in a hypothetical match-up against hillary clinton, 33% of women say they'll support trump and 56% will back clinton. clinton took delaware, pennsylvania, connecticut and maryland and bernie sanders was able to pull out a victory in rhode island. however, clinton actually won more delegates. clinton picked up 193 delegates. she is is only about 240 away from reaching the magic number needed for the nomination. the soeshlgded press calculate -- associated press calculated that hillary clinton is on track to win the nomination even if she loses the remaining primary states. >> with your help, we're going to come back to philadelphia for the democratic national convention. with the most votes and the most pledged delegates. let's go forward. let's win the nomination. and in july, let's return as a unified party.

listen carefully to her victory speech, she made that point. she quoted donald saying she was playing the woman card. she says if it means the things i think it means deal me in. >> donald trump, this might be interesting here. he's urging bernie sanders to run as an independent. is this a smart way of taking votes away from clinton? >> he's causing mischief there. he knows if bernie did that it would only take votes away from hillary clinton. >> he's stoking the flames saying your party has treated you terribly. >> what's ironic, the same thing that people were telling donald when it look like he might not the nomination. >> is it plausible that bernie sanders might? >> i say no. bernie, listen, he cares about stuff. the issues matter to him which is why so much of his attention if you listen to ted devine and others in his campaign now turning to that democratic platform and what the future of the party is.

kansas city's airport. rain came down in sheets near st. louis causing flooding. more than 25,000 customers lost power in the region. and in oklahoma, a powerful storm uprooted trees and tore the roofs off of homes. the storm in texas brought a steady stream of lightning an spawned a -- and spawned a tornado that knocked over an 18 wheeler. let's get to bill karins with the latest on the storms. boy, they were strong overnight. >> it was an outbreak, but we didn't lose lives to a tornado or anything like that that was a possibility yesterday. so we had the severe weather outbreak. i went through the southern ohio valley and back down through tornado alley. in all, over 400 storm reports but only five tornadoes. the five were on the weaker side. they didn't do a lot of damage. so we still have storms we're tracking this morning. the storm is still in the middle of the country. it will regenerate a new line of

pennsylvania. this for a chance to challenge incumbent pat toomey. the race is viewed as one the democrats could take in november. and to an interesting house race in pennsylvania. dwight evans who has served for nearly four decades is the winner ahead of 11 term congressman chaka fatah. it's the first time that an incumbent has lost their seat in any state. of course, fattah was indicted on 29 counts including racketeering and bribery and is facing sitting kantsdz jail time if -- significant jail time if convicted. a new york judge has ruled that a lawsuit against trump university can head to trial. the $40 million civil suit accuses the quote university of scamming hundreds of students by using fraud and false advertising. and jimmy kimmel has some ideas for the tattooed bernie sanders supporters. >> it's not looking good for bernie sanders, despite the fact he has some passionate, very enthusiastic supporters.
