virginia primary last night, taking 16 delegates to hillary clinton's 11. sanders' win forces clinton to continue a costly and long two front battle. and he told a packed oregon crowd that he's in the fight until the end. >> last week we won a really great victory in indiana. and tonight it appears that we have won a big, big victory in west virginia. we are in this campaign to win the democratic nomination. >> sanders' victory came after joe biden said this to gma. >> i feel confident that hillary will be the nominee and she'll be the next president. >> despite biden's unofficial endorsement, clinton continues to forge on.

she's unleashing a barrage of new ads in kentucky ahead of the may 17th primary after refraining from airing any ads in west virginia. over on the republican side, donald trump easily won nebraska and west virginia primaries. the wins coming easily since he's the only republican left standing. but it was news regarding a controversial donald trump delegate out of california that made headlines late yesterday afternoon. the california secretary of state released a list of formally assigned delegates included on trump's list was william johnson. one of the country's most prominent white nationalists. trump spokesman hope hicks says the white nationalist inclusion was due to the database error, despite the campaign formally choosing the candidates. johnson said he'll withdrawal as a donald trump delegate. however, johnson will remain on the certified list heading to cleveland. trump also made news regarding a possible supreme

court pick that's reverberating across the political world. >> well, they'll be pro-life. we will see about overturning, buwe will appoint -- i will appoint judges that will be pro-life. >> okay. >> planned parenthood released a statement that read, quote, women can't trust donald trump. donald trump goes on sexist rants that demean and disrespect women and backs its one a policy agenda that's dangerous and ignores the very real issues women face in this country. trump discussed his meeting thursday with house speaker paul ryan and said this about the possibility of picking chris christie as the running mate. >> i like chris a lot. i would not say ruling in or out. i have in mind five different people. i think they're excellent. i have a lot of respect for paul. i think we'll have a very good meeting, i hope. he's a very good man. he wants what's good for party. i look frankly for him to stay and be chairman. >> speaker ryan sat down with the "wall street journal" and

spoke of the challenges facing his party. >> basically, we need to start talking about how do we unify the republican party. the point i have been making is we shouldn't just pretend that our party is unified when we know it is not. look, it's been one week since the primary effectively ended. it was a very, very bitter, divisive primary. it will make more than a week just to repair and unify this party. >> trump will have a full plate of meetings with congressional republicans tomorrow. meanwhile, nancy pelosi and democratic leaders will hold a press conference today to discuss the legislative agenda ahead of trump's meeting. well, authorities in taunton, massachusetts, are trying to figure out what caused a man to go on the violent stabbing rampage that started at a home and ended at the shopping mall. he killed two people and wounded two others before being shot by an off duty sheriff.

dan schenamen has details. >> reporter: it was 7:00 local time when a man crashed a vehicle outside a home in taunton, massachusetts. about 40 miles south of boston. >> after the crash, the individual who has been identified as arthur derosa, 28, of taunton, exited his vehicle and gained access to a home at 270 merrick street in taunton. once inside he stabbed two women. >> reporter: one of the victims aged 80 died. a short time later the suspect crashed a car into the store at a nearby shopping mall. >> we saw like the car just like dove right in and after that, my mom is like dive the other way. it honestly happened the fastest thing. >> reporter: once inside the mall he assaulted several people. one died. >> i was shopping, i didn't know what was going on. so everybody started running including the macy's employee. so we started running. >> reporter: an off duty sheriff shot the assailant who was taken

to the hospital and pronounced dead. >> but for the actions of the deputy sheriff in may have been other victims. >> reporter: police don't believe terrorism was the motive. the actual motive is under investigation. dan schenamen, nbc news. to the latest in the investigation into the death of prince. authorities returned to his paisley park estate yesterday evening. one of his doctors who wrote him prescriptions have been identified and the police have taken records from the medical center. we're learning more about the details when he was found dead. nbc's stephanie gosk has more. >> reporter: among many of the unanswered questions about prince's untimely death, did a local doctor in minnesota treat him in his final days? a search warrant says dr. michael todd schulenberg seen in this video made for a local university examined prince twice. once on april 7th before his plane made the emergency landing in moline, illinois, then again on april 20th. the day before prince died.

the warrant which was issued to obtain prince's health records says dr. schulenberg was dropping off test results to prince at paisley park when he appeared at the death scene. during questioning by police, dr. schulenberg said he prescribed medications for prince and they were filled at walgreens. dr. schulenberg is a family physician and he worked for north memorial clinic. that hospital tells nbc news that he is no longer an employee there. we reached out the dr. schulenberg at his private office, but he has not responded. this comes after an attorney for dr. howard kornfeld an addiction specialist in california says a representative of prince called his client the night before the pop star died for what he described as a life saving mission. stephanie gosk, nbc news, new york. a man serving time in federal prison in colorado is reported to have come forward claiming he's the biological son and legal heir of the late pop

star. this will be the first paternity claim filed in court since prince's death. on friday, the judge cleared the way for dna testing to be conducted in case any parentage issues arise. one company says it's received more than 700 inquiries from people who believe they may be related to the artist. and at least ten people were injured after a large tornado ripped through western kentucky. video from the nearby car dealership in the town of mayfield captured the twister, sending debris flying through the air. the tornado appears to subside before touching down again. >> here it goes. it's going -- oh, look at that! look at that. holy mackerel. there goes that. >> the twister is part of the same severe storm system that has ravaged the central plains and killed two people since the weekend. two other tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down elsewhere in kentucky. president obama will make history later this month when he

trump over sanders in the fall election. so this is actually crossing party lines now. how is this going to affect voting down the ballot? >> well, it just throws things into the uproar. who is it that's actually voting here? are these democrats or people trying to give hillary some problems? so yes, it echoes all the way down the ballot. >> it's a tough one for both parties to come back from. now we have clinton and trump. we are seeing voters respond because is it the anti-vote we're getting now or actually supporting the candidates? >> everybody is anti-everybody. we never had a race where the two leading candidates were as unpopular as these people. it makes you wonder is there room for a third party out there? it does raise the question. >> well, let's keep it weird here because originally hillary clinton was the lead. but bernie sanders, man, he's just chipping away at her. how is she going to recover from this? >> well, it's strange. like she's losing her way to victory. right? i mean, the math is still on her

side. almost impossible mathematically for bernie to do this. but boy, this is not such a nice way to win, right, to keep being state after state after state, coming and losing. so yes, the math is on her side, but i think the political psychology is kind of with him right now. >> tough one to recover from. now let's talk, trump, thursday, capitol hill. >> yes. >> what's going to happen? >> he's going to meet with paul ryan and other republican congress people. you know, they have to somehow make some sort of peace here. i'm getting signals on the ryan side that they really would like to make some kind of friendly accommodation here. but their personalities are so different and the future of the republican party is at stake. if you're paul ryan and your members -- my gosh, is this trump guy going to hurt me in november that's tough to navigate here. >> and paul ryan is not on the shortist for vp?
