his past behavior with women, well, the lead woman in the story is now slamming the paper for its reporting. here is what she told msnbc. >> i don't have a negative story to give about donald trump because i don't have a negative -- you know, account of anything. we had a great relationship. i just really felt like that they misled me into that -- the entire time into that article and that it was almost a trap. >> the reporters covering the story sat down with lawrence o'donnell and said that none of the facts are in dispute. meanwhile, donald trump looks to develop his foreign policy expertise. a campaign aide confirms that henry kissinger will meet privately with trump on wednesday. while the two have spoken previously this may be the first face to face meeting for both men. kissinger has been the gop's preeminent statesman on world affairs. and john kasich is peeking out

for first -- speaking out for first time since dropping out, saying he still doesn't know if he'll endorse trump while dodging questions on if he'll vote for him. >> one question is will you endorse donald trump? >> i don't know. unless -- i told you about this two paths, you know? if i feel, you know, i read some stuff recently -- well, i'm not glued to this, but i read some stuff that's too negative. i don't like he's attacking or people putting down. learn to take it a little bit. you know t idea, you know, at least initially of, you know, well, maybe paul ryan shouldn't be at the convention, come on, man, you won. >> kasich shot down a possible third party run. meanwhile, bernie sanders spent the eve of today's primaries in puerto rico of all places. looking ahead to the state's june 5th primary. sanders vowed to take the fight to hillary clinton. >> i know that i'm running against somebody who is widely known throughout the island. i know that we've got an uphill battle, but with your support and the support of the people of the island, puerto rico can go on record as saying that we need a political revolution to transform america. >> that came as news broke that burlington college, the small vermont college that bernie sanders's wife used to run will shut down due to a $10 million deal she spear headed. that was due to property purchases she made. it will close at the end of the month. the last class to graduate collected their diplomas on saturday. and special primary coverage begins at 5:00 p.m. it's been called a surgical milestone. doctors at massachusetts general hospital have successfully performed the nation's first penis transplant.

the hospital said the 15 hour procedure occurred earlier this month. surgeons successfully connected the intricate nerve structures of a donor penis with those of the 64-year-old transplant recipient. he's thomas manning. he lost the organ to cancer. manning issued a statement saying i want to go back to being who i was. one of manning's surgeons had this to say at a press conference. >> we're hopeful that with the successes going forward that we'll be able to open this up to other patient populations such as wounded warriors returning from iraq and afghanistan who suffered these incredibly devastating injuries that can leave them so despondent they consider taking their own lives. >> it's the third transplant, and it took three years of planning with 50 people involved. there are new revelation about the amtrak train crash

that killed over eight people a year ago. a source close to the investigation said that the engineer was distracted by radio dispatches when the train derailed and he has only a dream like memory of the crash. the ntsb will meet today on the final report. if you were traveling over the past few days you may have been stuck in a tsa check point line. this year alone the lines have been so bad that tens of thousands of air travelers had missed their flights. nbc's tom costello has more. >> reporter: it got this bad at chicago o'hare. passengers sleeping on the floor. just one airline american tells nbc news 450 of the passengers missed their sunday flights at o'hare. >> it's frustrating. we know it's frustrating for our passengers. and it's just as frustrating for our employees. >> reporter: but it's not just chicago. nationwide, so far this year, american airlines says that

tsa's problems have cost tens of thousands to miss their flights. o'hare stops american's list followed by dfw, atlanta, l.a.x. and miami. at minneapolis-st. paul airport, the security director is a government whistle-blower. he said morale is at rock bottom. >> poor leadership, lack of accountability, lack of trust. >> reporter: a new tsa hire earns between $15 and $24 an hour, and whether they're full or part-time. since january, every hire is sent to the new tsa academy in georgia. for two weeks of intense training. while the tsa union claims 6,000 new screening officers are needed asap, tsa headquarters says 200 new recruits graduate from the academy every week. yet 117 quit each week. meanwhile, at the airports -- >> i have never seen anything like this. this is just -- somebody needs

to get their act together. >> reporter: the lines grow longer. >> that was nbc's tom costello reporting. it gets even worse as the summer travel season gets under way, the lines will only get longer. so pack your patience. and an alarming new study on heart attacks in the u.s. suggests half the people who have them don't even know it. the study looked at 10,000 middle aged men and women and it found 45% occurred without chest or arm pain. but the outcome would do just as much damage. the so-called silent killers even increased the risk of dying. warning signs include increased in indjetion and shortness of breath. president obama hits the republicans over his supreme court nominee. you're watching "first look." ♪

in the line of fire for thunderstorms that brought rain, hail, high winds. the rain and hail turned roadways into icy rivers and the wind was so powerful it downed power lines. how about this canopy, it did hold. thunderstorms are continuing at this hour. the pictures we showed you from the areas of north texas and the oklahoma panhandle now they have dropped down to the south. wichita falls had some big storms go through and how strong will these storms remain as they head down the populated areas of ft. worth and dallas. they should weaken. for later today we have about 16 million people at risk of severe thunderstorms. this orange area is an enhanced risk. we could see more severe storms so that's the enhanced here. slight areas of yellow. in all 16 million people, not too many tornadoes today. yesterday, we had seven reported. most in rural areas.

today, isolated tornadoes, but large hail could be widespread. they'll make it over to houston. and the state of texas is getting drenched as of late. since march 1st, rainfall totals have been near a foot in the houston area. the bottom line, texas has been getting drenched, hit time after time. once again, today, they're in the line of fire. >> yeah, don't want to get too much rain but they have experienced many droughts during the summer. >> one or the other. >> feast or famine. thank you. well, a baby bison picked up by tourists who were concerned for its safety has been euthanized. yellowstone rangers tried to reunite the calf with its herd, but was unsuccessful. a park statement said that the bison calf was later euthanized because it was approaching people along cars in the roadway. and the park officials are reminding visitors not to approach the massive animals as it can affect their survival and possibly cause mothers to reject

17 minutes past the hour. here's your first look at this morning's "scrambled politics." president obama talked to buzzfeed and about merrick garland and how the republicans blocked the nomination. >> originally they said they wouldn't meet with the guy and they heard from a lot of their constituents that said, well, you know, this isn't kindergarten. you don't just because you're not happy with what's happened you don't do your job. now you have seen already 15 republican senators meet with judge garland. those who have met with him i think have been favorably impressed. >> senate democrats are expected to stage a garland hearing tomorrow. senator marco rubio unleashed a twitter storm last night, raging against a "washington post" piece that describes him as quote lost at sea.

in one tweet, he knocked the sources, saying word of advice. people often claim to know more than really do because they enjoy the status of being perceived of in the know. and rubio stood by his decision to leave politics. he wrote, i have only said like 10,000 times i will be a private citizen in january. and he finished by hinting at trump's rise saying, as for future in politics, well, it's nearly impossible for someone not in office to ever become a successful candidate for president, right? well, trump he continues to refute "the new york times" story delving into his history with women. that doesn't make him immune to late night comedy. here is stephen colbert. >> yesterday, "the new york times" had a 5,000 word story with a front page headline, crossing the line, trump's private conduct with women, and "the times" had a special report, donald trump has repeatedly unnerved women in private encounters for 40 years.

that's hard to believe. that implies there were 29 years when he was not unnerving women. >> and that is your morning dish of "scrambled politics." time now to be joined by daniel litman, co-author of "the political playbook." good morning. >> good morning. how are you? >> i'm doing well. i want to talk about some of the most democratic forces here. they have been organized labor and environmentalists, but they seem to be at odds with each other. so could that put the party in jeopardy when it comes to voter turnout in november? >> this is not a good sign for democrats especially as, you know, democrats are getting more worried that, you know, trump's chances of winning in november could be, you know, higher than they expected. so you're seeing the rise of the environmental movement exemplified by billionaire tom steyer. and the fall of the labor movement which makes it harder for democrats to rally the base. and a lot of the labor -- you know, union members there --

they're at risk of supporting trump. if the democrats are having this infighting that's not good for hillary in november. >> democrats having infighting. if republicans having infighting. it is getting so interesting on both sides. let's talk about hillary clinton for a little while longer because she's facing a battle with bernie sanders in today's primaries. what's at stake? >> whether she will get momentum back to put sanders out of the race. you know, we had a story in politico about how could sanders be the ralph nader of this election, and winning in november if he's not fully supportive of hillary. after hillary, you know, presumably wins, then we -- you know, i bet hillary is going to want to have sanders out supporting her and rallying the millions of supporters who have been brought into the party. >> yeah.

welcome back. we told you earlier about the $6.5 million hillary clinton's super pac will be spending against trump. but a closer map sheds some light on where the supporters believe that trump may have a fighting chance. nearly $3 million will be spent on ads in florida, $1 million in ads will go to virginia. $968,000 goes to nevada and $1.7 million will be spent on ads in the ever important state of ohio. msnbc's jacob soboroff went to one of ohio's famous truck stops for a look at how the clinton/trump race is shaping up there. >> i'm at the truck world stop in hubbard, ohio. very few roads are as important to the presidential election than this one because it runs through the swing states of ohio and pennsylvania and nobody knows this area better than these truckers.
