tactical nuclear weapons, the sorts of things that you know are going on? >> it's a terrific question. first of all, i won't characterize how other presidents were thinking about these issues. i can tell you i'm thinking about it and that is that the dropping of the atomic bomb, the ushering in of nuclear weapons was an inflection point in modern history. it is something that all of us have had to deal with in one way or another. obviously, it's not as prominent in people's thinking as it was during the cold war. at a time when our parents or grandparents were huddling under desks in -- you know, frequent drills. but the back drop of a nuclear

event remains something that i think presses on the back of our imaginations. i do think that part of the reason i'm going is because i want to once again underscore the very real risks that are out there. and the sense of urgency that we all should have. so it's not only a reminder of the terrible toll of world war ii and the death of innocence across continents, but it's also to remind ourselves that the job's not done. and reducing conflict, building institutions of peace and reducing the prospect of nuclear war in the future.

in some ways, we have seen real progress over the last several years. the iran nuclear deal is a big piece of business because without us having to fire a shot, we're able to persuade a big, sophisticated country that had a well developed nuclear program not to develop nuclear weapons. this s.t.a.r.t. 2 treaty that i negotiated in first couple of years in office with the russians has reduced our respective stockpiles. the nuclear security summit and all the work we have done on that score has made it less likely that nuclear materials fall into the hands of terrorists or nonstate actors. and although we had not seen the kind of progress i would have liked to have seen with respect to north korea, what we have been able to do is mobilize the international community so that

their proliferation activities are scrutinized much more carefully and they have far fewer countries that are, you know, tolerant of potential actions by north korea outside of their own program. having said that, north korea is a big worry for all of us. they're not at the point right now where they can effectively hit u.s. targets. but each time that they test, even if those tests fail, they learn something. and it is clear that it logically they're still convinced that and kim jong un

in particular seems convinced that his own legitimacy is tied up with developing nuclear weapons. you pointed out the continuing tensions that exist in south asia. that is still a concern. and we know that the terrorist organizations would have no compunction about using a weapon of mass destruction if they got their hands on it. so we have got a lot of work to do, i think we built up an architecture during the course of my presidency that has made a difference. that has focused attention on some key points of vulnerability, but we're not where we need to be yet. obviously we haven't achieved all the goals that i set when i spoke in prague at the beginning of my presidency. of course, i noted at the time that i didn't expect to be able to achieve all those goals during the course of my presidency or even in my lifetime. and this is going to be an ongoing task, but it's one that i think we have to be paying a

lot of attention to. >> good morning, everybody. we're listening to president obama in japan as he is there, part of the g7 summit and today as you saw, taking questions from reporters right now. one being about his historic visit to hiroshima, the site of the atomic bomb dropping. he says i think it underscores the real risks out there and he talked about reducing the possibility of nuclear proliferation, specifically with north korea and knowing their advancing capabilities. the concern that that brings to southeast asia. i'm thomas roberts. we'll get right to the headlines right now on "way too early." and hillary clinton's campaign was hoping to celebrate a big endorsement of the united autoworkerness, but instead a report concluded she violated the federal records act by not turning over all official e-mail

before she left office and the report found there was no evidence she got approval to use the personal account for business. they took it in stride, it shows just how consistent her e-mail practices were with those of other secretaries and senior officials at the state department who used personal e-mail. but it was fodder for congressional republicans and her 2016 foes. now, a spokesman for bernie sanders said the i.g. report speaks for itself and donald trump, well he relished the story on the campaign trail. >> she had a little bad news as you know today from some reports that came down, weren't so good. but not so good. the inspector general's report, not good. but i want to run against hillary. it could be we're going to run against crazy bernie. that could be. could be. crazy bernie. he's crazy man, but that's okay. we like crazy people. and i hear they want to put

biden in. i hear they're going to slip joe biden in and he's going to take bernie's place. >> so also this morning, guccifer, the hacker who first exposed the existence of clinton's personal e-mail server and claims to have hacked into it will plead guilty. that's for an unrelated case. while in california, donald trump stopped by "jimmy kimmel live" and he said he's open to debate with bernie sanders. and once again, denied pretending to be his own spokesman back in 1991 during a telephone interview, but did admit to using aliases including the name of his youngest son. >> over the years i have used aliases. when i'm in real estate and especially out in brooklyn with my father and i'd want to buy something. honestly, nobody knew who trump was at that time, but i'd never want to use my name, because you'd pay more for the land. >> what names did you use? >> i would use -- i actually used a name barron.

i made a very good deal using that name. i used an alias in terms of setting up a meeting with mr. donald trump and it was -- and many preem in the real estate do that. you use alias. you have to, frankly otherwise they find out it's you and you have to pay more money. >> i asked bernie sanders because he'll be here tomorrow to ask a question, and have you met bernie? >> i never really had the privilege. >> i see. okay. so here's the question from bernie. he asked, hillary clinton backed out of an -- hillary clinton backed out of an agreement to debate me in california before the june 7th primary. are you prepared to debate the major issues facing our largest state and the country before the california primary, yes or no? >> yes, i am. how much is he going to pay me? >> you would -- >> trump says he would take the money paid, give it to charity. the response from sanders -- swift. he tweeted game on.

i look forward to debating donald trump in california before the june 7th primary. but earlier in the day police were on edge for donald trump's campaign rally in anaheim, california, detaining several protesters including this man wearing a clown mask. police were out in force, though there were no major incidents like the violence in new mexico tuesday night. inside the anaheim convention center, trump rallied 3,000 people, talking about his support from women. and he started the event by inviting a group on stage to join him who thanked the lord for him running. trump talked about his codominae in the republican primaries and converting whose those who oppose him like mitt romney who still do. >> poor mitt romney. poor mitt. i look at -- i mean, i have a store worth more money than he is. i raised a lot of money for him. his wife is lovely. he choked like a dog. you ever see in athletics? he's a choker. and he walks like a penguin on to the stage. you ever see -- like a penguin. but it's all right. who knows?

hey, look, i got a call from lindsey graham and he couldn't have been nicer. do you believe that? if i can get a call from lindsey graham, i can get a call from anybody. maybe mitt will call me one of these days. >> rick perry, good guy. he said the worst things about me. he was saying the worst things, i always liked him. this politics is a dirty business i have to tell you. i had never seen people able to pivot like politicians. i get a call, rick perry. he made the nicest speech. in fact, he said something to the effect that perhaps the smartest person ever to run for the presidency -- how good is that? trump. trump. many of the people i competed against have now endorsed me. and most importantly -- no, jeb hasn't done it yet. he will get a burst of energy and he will do it, believe me. i'm telling you. he needs a little more energy. now, jeb has not been nice.

jeb was in europe and he was talking about me. he didn't think in europe i'd get the word back, but he was talking bad about me. >> so when trump criticized susana martinez at a rally because she declined to attend the rally, they took notice and they're speaking out. jeb bush says politics talk, governors lead. and john kasich added, martinez is an outstanding governor who has brought conservative reform to a blue state. she's exactly who our party and nominee should be lifting up and supporting, not tearing down. yesterday, martinez added her own thoughts while talking with reporters. >> it's just politics. i was a prosecutor for 25 years, you know? i have heard names i have been called for a long time. it does -- it's not something that will affect me. >> one of the things that a lot of people have been asking you is whether you're going to

locker rooms and bathrooms into what they think. and it is being called a political stunt. the head of the tsa says the long waits, waits through airport security they not get better any time soon. peter neffenger faced down irritated lawmakers yesterday. but he told them that staffing shortages and the higher than expected number of passengers will mean longer wait times throughout the busy summer travel a season. to help cut the wait the administrator said some have been promoted to full-time. he's waiting for an up extra $34 million to hit the agency's budget next month so they can hire additional screeners, then there was this question over the $90,000 in bonuses the deputy administrator had received over 13 months. >> what i think most of the american people view as a historic critical failure right now looking at the lines and the through put i wonder what you have to do to get a bonus at

last night's 116-78 win is good for a lead in game 6. to the ice, where for the first time in franchise history the san jose sharks are headed to the stanley cup finals. the sharks wrapping up the western conference finals in six games after eliminating the blues with a 5-2 win at home last night. they await winner of tonight's game 7 match-up between the tampa bay lightning and the pittsburgh penguins. finally, the name joe nikolay might sound familiar. he's the coach of the aa texas rangers who is known for his tirades directed at umps. well, he had another instant classic tuesday night after being thrown out of the game. >> and here comes joe, he throws his helmet. and he's been thrown out of the game. and he has been famous for his

tirades. boy, he tossed his helmet, he slid into second base and he goes in again and he indicates safe. he kicks the dirt. mickolet putting on quite a show. he picks up the bag and he kicks the second base bag and now he kicks his helmet. he will exit stage left. now he kicks the rosin bag and he's still going after the umpires. well, never a dull moment at the ballpark. >> get that man a hacky-sack. >> he kicked second base. like that's heavy -- like bruise your feet, break your ankle. that was crazy. >> looked like his toe would be just fine after kicking the baselines what's going on weather wise? >> yeah, one super cell thunderstorm that produced a tornado for 45 minutes. it was a wedge, about half a mile wide, other times more of a cone shaped tornadoes. these tornadoes they morph and change a little bit. sometimes they bounce up and

down. this was a serious situation we were very concerned for a lot of small towns in central kansas. we did hear about 15 to 25 homes that were destroyed. there was some devastation out there. but there was a lot of heads up on this one. so all the people got out of harm's way. there's the pictures. that same one there was the wedge tornadoes. this was 6:00 p.m. last night, going back to the maps here. this is when we got the first tornado map. then the super cell tornado continued for 45 minutes crossing interstate 70. about 1,000 feet of railroad tracks they were torn apart and in a mangled mess here. that's been discontinued, it will take a while to fix that. and then a big hailstorm in junction city. unfortunately today we have a chance of getting more of the similar situations. this morning, worst weather is in northern iowa, headed for lacrosse, iowa. that continues and now this line of thunderstorms is going to race through illinois. if you're down in st. louis i think you have to deal with some
