10:00 am
women represents nearly half our labor force and our whole economy is better off. the movement of women in to the work force, the paid work force, over the past forty years was responsible for more than $3.5 trillion in growth in our economy. [ applause ] here is another fact that does not get enough attention, unattended pregnancy and teen pregnancy and abortion rates are at all time record lows. [ cheers ] [ applause ] that reality and studies confirmed what planned parenthood knew all alone. affordable contraception worked.
10:01 am
you know -- [ applause ] >> it was not so long ago that republicans and democrats actually stood together on these issues. back in the '90s when i helped create the national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy, i work with republicans to get it done. things feel quite different now, don't they? instead of working to continue the progress we have made, republicans, led now by donald trump -- [ crowds booing ] -- are working to reverse it. when donald trump says, lets make america great again, that's code for lets take america backward. back to a time -- back to a time when opportunity and dignity
10:02 am
were reserved for some and not all. back to the days when abortions was illegal and women had far fewer options and life for too many women and girls was limited. well, donald, those days are over. [ cheers ] [ applause ] we are not going to let donald trump or anyone else turn back the clock and that means we got to get to work. as you know better than anyone right now across the countr country -- rights that women should be able to take for granted are under attack. any day now, the supreme court will rule on the texas law that imposes burden some and medically unnecessary requirements on abortion providers. if these restrictions are
10:03 am
allowed to stand, 5.4 million women of reproductive age will be left of the state of the size of france. it is the biggest challenge to roe v. wade in a generation. it is a reminder of what's at stake on the supreme court. president obama has done his job and nominated mary garland to be the ninth justice. it is time to the senate republicans to do their job. [ applause ] [ cheers ] >> the senate should give judge garland the hearing he deserves. in just the first three months of 2016, states across the country introduced more than 400
10:04 am
restrictions on abortion. eleven states have defunded planned parenthood in the last ye year, cutting some women off from their only health care provider and of course, on a national level, republicans and congress have been willing to shut down the entire federal government over planned parenthood funding. >> have you ever noticed that the same politicians who are against sex education, birth control and safe and legal abortion are also against policies that would make it easier to raise a child like paid family leave? [ applause ] they are for limited government everywhere except when it comes
10:05 am
to interfering with women, choices and rights. [ cheering and applause ]. >> well, i am here to d tell yo we need to be determined just as they are. we need to defend planned parenthood against partisan attacks. if right wing politicians actually cared as much about protecting women's health as they say they do, they join me in calling for more federal funding for planned parenthood. [ cheering and applause ]. >> we also need to fight back against the erosion of reproductive rights at the federal states and local levels ensuring that patients and staffs can walk into health centers without harassment and
10:06 am
violence. we need to -- we need to stand up for access to affordable contraceptions without interference from politicians or employers. [ applause ] and in long acting reversal contraceptions so every woman can choose the method that's best for her. lets strengthen and improve the affordable care act which covers 20 million americans and save millions of dollars through no copay preventive care. lets take action to stop the spread of the zika virus which threatens the health of women,
10:07 am
children, and pregnant women. lets repeal laws like the high amount that makes it nearly impossible. [ cheers ] [ cheering and applause ] making it nearly impossible for low income women disproportionately women of color to exercise their full reproductive rights. it is worth saying defending women's health means defending access to abortion and not just in theory but in reality. [ cheering and applause ] we know -- we know that restricting access does not make women less like lick to end a pregnancy. it makes it abortion less safe and that then threatens women lives for two long, issues like this have been dismissed by many
10:08 am
as women's issues as though somehow makes them less worthy secondary. oh yes, these are family issues and economic issues and justice issues and fundamentals to our country and our future. [ cheering and applause ] beyond these specific issues, we need to keep working to support women and families in other ways by getting income rising including the minimum wage which disproportionately affecting them. we need to define equal pay for wi women's work. we need to pass comprehension immigration reform that is keep fami
10:09 am
families together. we need to bring down all the barriers of discrimination and systematic racism that holds too many americans back. and, we need to come together to stop the epidemic of gun violence that's stocking our country. no parent should live in fear that their child should be hurt or killed by gun violence. 33,000 americans are killed every year. i met so many mothers on this campaign who have lost their own children. we owe it to them to protect our kids no matter what zip code they live s they live in, that's going to inquire standing up to the gun low b.b. a
10:10 am
lobby and making this a voting issue. all the issues, they intersect and connected. i am grateful of the reconstructive justice leaders in this room and across america. [ cheering and applause ] because you know that all these issues go straight to that fundamental question, whether we believe women and families of al races and backgrounds and income levels levels deserve an actual shot in life, that's what i believe. you won't be surprise to hear that donald trump believes something very different. he thinks guaranteeing paid family leave would leave america less competitive. if women want equal pay, "we should do as good a job as men" as if we were not already.
10:11 am
[ crowds booing ] . he wants to defund planned parenthood and he wants to go after so many of the fundamental rights we have including safe and legal abortion. he actually said, "women should be punished for having abortion." once he said that, there was an out cry as there should have been. he tried to walk back his comments. he's doing that a lot lately. [ laughter ] >> anyone who's so casually agree to the idea of punishing women like it was nothing to him, the most obvious thing in the world. that's someone that does not hold women in high regard. if he did, he would trust women to make the right decisions for ourselves.
10:12 am
[ cheers ] >> donald ensuring us and his quote again, "the best for women." >> he has no idea what's best for women. and after all this, this is a man who has called women pigs, dogs and disgusting animals. kind of hard to imagine counting on him to respect our fundamental rights. when he says pregnant women are an inconvenience to their employer, what does that say how he values our women and our work and contributions. we are in the middle of a concerted persistent assault on women's health across the country. we have to ask ourselves and everyone you come in contact
10:13 am
with, do we want to put our health or lives or futures in donald trump's hands? now, these questions are not hypothetica hypothetical. every women who care will answer them when they vote in november. now, when i talk like this, donald trump likes to say -- i am playing the women card. and i like to say, if fighting for equal pay, planned parenthood, and the ability to make our health decisions is playing the women card, deal me in. [ cheering and applause ]. >> now, my friends, i come to this issue, of course, as a woman, a mother and a
10:14 am
grandmother now. [ cheers ] >> i also come to it as a former first lady, senator and secretary of state and in those roles -- [ cheers [ cheers ] in those roles i travel to parts of the world where girls are married off as soon as they are old enough to bare children and planning consigns to women to live of hardship. i visited countries where governments have strictly regulated women's reproduction either forcing women to have abortions or forcing women to get pregnant or give birth, every thing i have seen convinced me that life is freer and fairer and healthier and safer and far more humane when women were in power to make
10:15 am
their own reproductive health decisions. [ cheering and applause ]. >> everything i heard from donald trump echoes other leaders who have different views of women. the great, late, maya angelou, says when someone shows you who they have, believe them the first time. donald trump has shown us and we sure should believe him. it is not just on unreproductive rights. civil rights and human rights and the environment and all of that is on the line in this
10:16 am
election. when donald trump says a distinguish judge born in indiana cannot do his job because of his mexican heritage or mock as reporter of his disability, it goes against everything we stand for. he does not see all americans as americans. so, this election is not about the same old fights between the democrats and republicans. they'll be there, don't worry. this election is profoundly different. it is about who we are as a nation. it is about millions of americans coming together to say, we are better than this. so here is my promise to you today, i will be your partner in the election and over the long hall together we are taking on the attacks and together we will come out stronger, just like planned parenthood has, time and
10:17 am
again. [ cheers ] [ cheering and applause ] together we are going to unify our country and stop donald trump and fight an america that we are lifting each other up instead of tearing each other down. we are not going to break that highest and hardest glass ceiling. we'll break down all the barriers that hold women and families back because you know we do believe, we are stronger when every family in every community knows they're not on their own. we are stronger together and we are going to make history together in november, thank you all so much. [ cheering and applause ]. good afternoon to you, i am peter alexander, at this hour,
10:18 am
this is a busy day. hillary clinton taking on donald trump sharp language as she attacks him over the comments he made repeatedly of the mexican heritage of judge curiel. we are expected to hear from donald trump in washington dc, we are told he just walked in the hotel of the omni of the faith and conference. this is the -- my colleague kasie hunt is joining us, she's there at the planned parenthood event where we just heard from secretary clinton. this is a speech that had a lot of lines where we heard in the recent days where she's increasingly comfortable going after donald trump. she went behind close doored with elizabeth warren, what are we learning about that
10:19 am
conversation? >> reporter: high pete peter, w waiting for information how that conversation went with senator elizabeth warren. we are expecting clinton's aids to give us a little bit of information about how it went on the secretaries' end. from the time being, she's here in washington delivering in many ways sounded to me like a version for women voters of that speech she gave on national security and foreign policy couple weeks ago, casting donald trump not just as a standard republican who should be opposed for his policies but fundamentally add odds where the country should be for women voters. she quoted some of those things that donald trump has said. you will remember some of those early republican debates of megan kelly donald trump calling women dogs and pigs. she also talked about donald
10:20 am
trump broadly, take a look at a piece of her address today. >> when donald trump says lets make america great again. that is code for lets take america backward, back to a time when opportunity and dignity were reserved for some and not all. back to the days when abortion was illegal and women had far fewer options and life for too many women and girls was limited. well, donald, those days are over. [ cheers ] >> reporter: so there you have hillary clinton addressing the planned parenthood action fund. this is her first speech since becoming a presumptive nominee, democratic nominee of the wake up of the election and everything that happened yesterday. her first address aside from what he heard from the night she
10:21 am
kind of assume that -- it is a little noisy and these women are coming out of the speech. it tells you the fact that she came here at the flood and it tells you a little bit of how they're going to approach this election. that gender gap is critical for her. it is going to give her a clear path to those 270 votes that she needs to beat donald trump in the fall. it is something they feel is a major strength and 70% of people disapproved of donald trump here. >> kasie hunt is at the planned parenthood here. on the left side of your screen, you can see ralph reid making remarks. we are expecting to hear from donald trump moments now. as we wait for trump joined my our senior political, mark murray. this is the first time that
10:22 am
secretary clinton secured the headlines with the series of endorsemen endorsements. however, he chooses to and how he goes about that where a lot of people are going to be scrutinizing her closely. >> one is donald trump's remark and how hard he will go after hillary clinton. it will be interesting to see how he fights back. the other story line is how donald trump receives by those evangelicals. we can go down the list where republicans decided not to get on board half of the way. i am talking about the bush clan, for example, and mit romney who's not on board of donald trump's presidential campaign. and even in a new interview with bloomberg at a podcast of mitch mcconnell saying he needs a
10:23 am
strong vice president with experience because he was not too strong on the issues. donald trump has been taking on the chin from a lot of republicans. what is going to be interesting is how he will receive from the ranking file and the evangelical groups. it is going to be very important for him in the fall. >> we appreciate that. we are joined right now, we have been talking as we have been listening to clinton right now, hughes. that's when the ig report came out. the headlines at this time could have been trump's strongest moment where he was eviscerating hillary clinton. as i say this he's walking out. we'll listen to him and i will get your reaction to donald trump moments now. here is donald trump at the
10:24 am
faith and freedom conversation. take a listen. >> wow, what a group, so many likes. thank you everybody. what an honor. we are going to have a big victory in november. you will be very happy, believe me. [ cheers ] this is my third time and i think the first time i was only okay. the second time i was great and this time we have to top it, okay? >> thank you all for being here. before we begin, i want to thank you ralph reid, he's been an amazing guy and an amazing support, a terrific man and it is a great honor to be invited back so many times, i will be here as often as i can because i am with you 100%. i also want to thank, i have had so much support as you know we have done well with the evang c
10:25 am
evangelicals. and south carolina i went there and i was not supposed to win and i won in a landslide and so many place where is you had the evangelicals and the heavy christian groups. it is been an amazing journey. the support that i have had from you folks have been incredible. i appreciate it very much. go ahead. [ applause ] i happen to be at presbyterian and there were about three of you out there. it is been really something and some of my friends that are in the room, i appreciate you being here. i want to really thank jerry foyer jr. the job he's done is incredible. >> pastor paul white has been right at the beginning, i have
10:26 am
known her for so long and she's a tremendous woman. pastor mark burns, i don't know if you watch my television, between him and daryl scott, these two guys are phenomenon. they have been incredible. robert jeffries we know. he's been amazing. in the audience, we have richard lee and some place they're in the audience. i appreciate you being here. i have to say though, the world is such a different place even when i started with this. we started this twelve months ago and cold up, i just see where in france, they have a massive soccer tournament, something is so important and so big, they're thinking about maybe postponing it or cancelling it because of threats and all the problems going on of what's happening with terrorisms and it is a very, very sad thing and a sad place. who would have thought our world
10:27 am
would be in a position like this where it would happen. you see events after events, radical and islamic and terrorism is taking over and we cannot let that happen. we cannot let that happen. [ applause ] it is an honor to speak here today. i would like to thank all of the wonderful christian leaders and voters who have supported me. we have tremendous support. here we are and here are the goals, i thought i put some of these together and i did it the other night because of this meeting. i want it to come from me and my heart. we want to uphold the sainity
10:28 am
and dignity of life. [ applause ] . marriage and family as the building block of happiness and success. so important. [ cheering and applause ]. >> by the way, i know many successful people of the happiest people that have that great religious feel and the incredible marriage and children, it is more important than the money, folks, i know plenty with a lot of money and they are not happy people. [ laughter ] >> religious freedom, the right of people, of faith to freely practice their faith, it is so important. freedom of any kind means no one should be judged by their race or their color and the color of their skin. right now, we have a divided nation. we are going to bring our nation together. we are going to bring our nation
10:29 am
together. [ cheering and applause ] the importance of faith to united states' united states is really the people who go to church, who work and work in religious charities. so important and share their values, these are the foundations of our society. we must continue to forge our partnership with israel and work to ensure israel's security. [ cheers ] keeping people of faith safe from threats like radical islam whether protecting them here, all of it needs to be confronted together, the threat of radical islam. we have to do it.
10:30 am
[ applause ] now hillary clinton, or as i call her crooked hillary clinton, she's crooked as they come. refuses to say the words "radical islam." this alone makes her unfit to be president. in fact -- [ applause ] >> she wants a 500% increase of syrian refugees coming in our country. no good. we don't know where they're coming from and where they are.
10:31 am
[ crowd chanting greu.s. a ] >> okay, thank you, everybody very municipach. it is amazing of what's going on. thank you. [ inaudible ] [ protester disrupts trump speech ]
10:32 am
>> all right, thank you. a little freedom of speech, please. thank you. very rude but what are you going to do? thank you, thank you darling, i appreciate it. very sad -- very sad what's happening. what's happening in our country is so sad and we are so divided it is such a shame. these are professional agitators, they come in and are set here by other party, believe me. where did we left off? 500% increase in syrian refugees without documentation, we don't
10:33 am
know where they come from. hillary will bring hundreds of thousands of refugees and many of whom of people of different faces and values and some of whom openly support terrorism in our country. we don't need that. we have enough problems. we have enough problems right now. [ applause ] here is some of what we can accomplish together. appoint judges is so important. [ applause ] who'll uphold our laws, protect our constitution and protect the rights of all americans. and -- as you know, i put a list together of highly, highly
10:34 am
judged and you wijudg judgejudg judges and you will see it. that's one of the most important reasons why we have to win the presidency. if we don't, it is going to be a whole different country. these are all pro-life by the way. [ applause ] we'll restore and respect people of phrase who raise their children following our laws and rules, and we have to really take care of, we have to take care of our neighbors because right now our neighbors are not being taken care of. we have to restore the rule of law on our border and in our government no matter where it is, it has to be restored. by the way, we have to thank
10:35 am
great respects to our police and law enforcement in this country. all of this includes tough ethnic rules to restore dignity of the secretary of the united states. it has not happened for a while. it is the longest deal maker. if you look at the iran deal is truly one of the worst that i have seen. we'll protect the right of churches to speak their minds on political matters and free from intimidati intimidation. [ applause ] >> now immigration controls to keep us safe from radical islamic terrorism.
10:36 am
[ applause ] here is what clinton will do for our country. she will appoint judges and the will of the people will mean nothing, nothing. her judges will abolish the second amendment and destroy the rule of law. she wants to abolish the second amendment and i will tell you the national rights association of the nra two weeks ago endorsed donald trump so i think i have to. [ applause ] she will keep obamacare in place which puts medical decisions in
10:37 am
the hand of government. not good. sergeant bowe bergdahl care, we'll repeal and replace. she will restrict freedom are government mandates. and pushing abortion demand up until the moment of birth which is where she is as you know. she will under mind the wages of working people with uncontrolled immigration creating poverty and income insecurity. hillary clinton's wall street agenda will crush working families. she will put -- she will be trapping kids in failing schools. she will plunge our inner cities into deeper poverty if that's possible. hillary's agenda is taxation and she wants to raise your taxes
10:38 am
big leap. get use to hearing it. she wants to raise your taxes tremendously. regulations, her policies will be a blow to all poor people in this country. her education policies and immigration policies and her trade policies will plunge our poor after americans and hispanic communities in turmoil and worst despair, believe me if you look at what's going on. the democratic party has run the school boards and the police department and the city councils and the mayor's offices in most of our inner cities almost all of our inner cities. they run congressional offices.
10:39 am
they horribly failed in almost every single community, in fact, you could actually say in every community. i am going to turn things around. [ applause ] she's now under criminal investigation that was announced yesterday by the white house. it is a cripple investigation. [ applause ] first time ever by the way a president of the united states endorsed somebody under criminal investigation. interesting. [ laughter ] she even appointed the national
10:40 am
security board someone with no national security experience, instead, it was a recent donor to hillary clinton campaign and gave as much as $250,000 to his foundation. where did this guy come from? he made this contribution and all of a sudden he's important and vital. this position dealt with tactical and nuclear weapons and secret clearance. knowing hillary made $153 million given speeches to special interest groups since 2001. a lot of money. a lot of money. these donors owned hillary clinton. they own her. and bernie sanders was right about that, i have to tell you. if you work -- if you wor
10:41 am
worwork -- [ applause ] the bottom line is i will be working for you. i should spend $55 million running on my own money. i don't know -- not easy. [ applause ] >> i just spent 55 million of my money running in the primaries and other people spent many times that amount. >> we have been listening to donald trump speaking at the faith and freedom conference take place in washington dc. we are learning some breaking news right now, this is from dallas texas, dallas police confirmed of shots fired in the baggage claim area at dallas love field. they are evacuating the terminal. i want to show you the instagram video that was just posted. take a look. [ gunshots ]
10:42 am
>> get down, get down. >> again, we are getting a small piece of video right now showing as shots were fire. just about seven miles iooutsid of the airport. what more can you tell us what can take place. it would certainly appear that this occurs just outside the baggage claim area. they are in route at this hour. i counted nine shot in total according to this instagram video. we have multiple reports that there is a shoot ting there at e
10:43 am
ar airport. the officer confronted a suspect or was chasing a suspect and they ended right there at the curb in front of the baggage carousel and shots rang out. you can see an officer screaming telling everyone to get down and four shots are fired and two and then a few more. the officer there wearing, looks like a lime green kind of shirt or a top, some of these people are walking up to see what's going on. you can see he still has his gun pointed at the suspect and screaming for the suspect to get down. we don't know why this individual had a confrontation with the police and why they approached him. we don't know if there was a chase that began and ended at that location, whatever happen, and finally right there at love field, at my day with nine shots ringing out here. we are told that one individual is in route to the hospital and what appears from the video only and i stress that whoever was
10:44 am
injured or had been shot would be a suspect and not a police officer. but, that is the extent of the information we have at this moment as we continue to gather here. >> yeah, what always makes this a big concern for law enforcement is when you are outside of the security zone at airports, anybody can be carrying whatever weapons and many people are greeting loved ones as they return home or people are trying to find vehicles to leave that site. do we have a better understanding of the injuries or do we know whether those injuries were suffered by the person who the officer was pursuing or is there a better understanding of who it was injured here? >> i am afraid we don't. we are going at thi this -- eyewitnesss to this incident, why don't we replay this video one more time without us talking and you can hear us screaming and the sound of the bullets being fired. why don't we play it at the top?
10:45 am
[ shots fired ] get down, get down! >> i count nine shots and you can hear the police officer screaming get down and get down. other officers are live at the scene tell everybody to get back. you can see that officer still has his weapon drawn. whatever that was trans pyring and you cannot see it because it is blocked by that wall. whatever that was transpiring and whatever he was screaming, after the shots were fired, for whatever reason, he felt the need to continue firing. whether the suspect had a weapon or he or she is still moving.
10:46 am
police officers are rushing to the scene to backup the officer who had to fire his weapon for whatever reasons. live picture on the right hand side of the screen as we play that video an the left of the shooting takes place at dallas lovefield airport for people who are familiar with the dallas area. this is much more an assessable airport than dfw. it is a smaller airport outside of downtown dallas. tom, as we talk about this, i want to get a sense from you about law enforcement is concerned oversees the concerns of terror as we witnessed in belgium in areas where individuals can walk in outside of security. this does not appear anything that's terrorism related. although we'll wait for more details. what are the concerns of for law enforcement as they try to secure areas like airports in many ways are soft targets 9/11 a situation like this where a
10:47 am
person with a weapon can cause serious harm. >> tweets right now are safe. we are safe. grabbed my son and ran. these are the types of tweets that are unfolding. as you talk to security personnel about airport security, they'll tell you that they try to take a curb to cockpit approach. it is not just what happens at the tsa tech points, there should be a layer of security whether it is the airport police on the ground or whether it is surveillance cameras or whether it is just a totality of the entire security picture including dogs and etcetera, all of that playing into a total approach for security. they'll also tell you that, you know, the soft target of security, remains very much of what happens on the perimeter before you're actually into and past the connect point and all
10:48 am
along has been what would happen if there is any sort of attacks before security check points right here on the curb. we don't know if this is in any way related terrorism if the suspect is wanted in a crime or a confrontation with the police or whatever reason or if they were chasing that suspect. we don't have that information at this point. there is one tweet suggest thin that the police may have been chasing the vehicle. >> we are looking at the video, you can see courtesy of brian armstrong. that's what is changing this and herb everybody is carrying a cell phone that allows us to see episodes like this. we hope this is an isolated incident and nobody is injured. rescuers are telling us at this time that one person has been injured and transported to the
10:49 am
near by hospital at dallas love field and we'll know details specifically at that individual. situations like this, we are learning more information and clearly as this one just happen happened. other airports get put on an alert, if this is something they should worry as well. if you heard anything of thisser hour of potential lyanne impact of other parairplanes that are shutting down or doing anything precautionary as well. >> i don't have that. we have no indications from the tsa that there is anything of a concern beyond what is happening at dallas love field. this is worth repeating. at the airport, the armed officers are not tsa, every airport in the country, the armed officers are airport
10:50 am
police. very often hired by or contracted out to the city of the county. they are certified by the state law. they're not security or tsa. she is law enforcement usually representing the city or the airport authority. so one would suspect in this case that is what we are dealing with here. an airport officer or city police officer felt the need to draw his weapon and fire right there at love field. love field, of course, not the busiest airport in dallas. dfw is the busiest. love field is a very very -- you might call it a commuter airport. it services southwest airlines, it's an important hub for southwest in the southwest and throughout texas. >> right now, we're looking at the dallas news website, this is the dallas morning news website that is reporting an officer involved shooting, is what prompted this lockdown that took place within this last hour at
10:51 am
dallas love field airport. we are told that officers responded at roughly 12:20 p.m. that would be exactly 30 minutes ago with their guns drawn. we played this video, you heard the shots fired, nine perhaps ten shots all fired. at least one authority was seen yelling for somebody to stay down. this time we're trying to get a better understanding of exactly what has harppened. the baggage claim area remains closed. according to the dallas morning news website other parts of dallas love field airport at this hour have remained open. right now, we have a reporter from kxas our affiliate in dallas fort worth area who is live on the ground. we're going to listen in. >> they're moving passengers who have already cleared the checkpoint to come back outside the secured area. >> i can't tell if that's the case or if it is just that people coming from inbound flights are coming back in here.
10:52 am
>> can you grab somebody? do they have any idea what's going on? are they being told anyone at all? >> yeah, let me just see if i can check with some of these people here. i -- excuse me sir, were you coming in bound from a flight that just landed? >> no, sir. [ inaudible ] >> are they turning people back out of the gates, is that what it is? rescreened. out there at a gate and then you come back in? i see. very good. >> can you imagine the time that's going to take? >> coming back in from the gates, being rescreened again. but the line here is just crazy. look at this, if we can show you the pandemonium we have. it's orderly but very crowded. >> wow. >> so, ken, if they are -- >> it's not operating at the moment as best i can tell. they have the screens down for a lot of it. >> i mean, if it's a crime scene, if there's a shooting
10:53 am
there, they're going to lock that area down, they've got to do the measurements, the calculations and figure out, talk to witnesses and whatnot. >> if they are sending people back to be rescreened, then we're going to have delayed flights and then we have the ripple effects. >> can you imagine? >> let me go back outside if i can and show you what i was seeing out there. there was quite a scene out there at curb side, too. >> yeah, i can imagine. and we were -- we saw live pictures from chopper 5, ken, just so you know, and it appears that they have cut off traffic, not allowing any cars to even turn into the airport at this point. so ken -- >> we were lucky to do that just a few moments ago. we come into the airport. but we were having a little trouble, my friend lyle davis who i'm working with today was having trouble parking. so i jumped out here with my ipad. >> to your right, you just passed what appeared to be a tsa agent. can you tell what she's directing people to do? is she sharing any information?
10:54 am
i can see you walking through the doors there i don't know what kind of delay we're up against. >> i'm not certain. i didn't catch exactly what they were doing. i can show you here, out on the sidewalk. the entry area to love field here. >> ken, ken -- >> blocked off with police. my signal comes back -- >> keep the pictures going, we're going to step away from you for a second. because we have the video that deanna has been describing to us, this was shot by one of our viewers, named bryan armstrong. let's take a look at the videos now. [ gun shots ] >> that was the four initial shots. then we hear five more. and then that is the police officer you see on the left of your screen. >> with his gun drawn. >> his gun drawn we cannot see the shooter. >> wow. >> you see people just standing
10:55 am
around, which is an indication of how quickly this happened. >> can you imagine? you're just -- arrive at the airport and leaving the airport and the next thing you hear are gun shots like that in rapid succession. this is video from bryan armstrong. listen to the authorities. they're barking demands there. look at this woman in the striped shirt. we're going to loop the video so you can see see it from the top. let's watch again and listen. [ gun shots ] >> you didn't hear all the shots, but four shots off the top. >> again down, get back is what it sounds like. >> five more shots. five more shots. and before we heard those five
10:56 am
more shots you heard get down, get down, which would lead you to believe that those shots were return fire from the police. >> we have edited some of the language that was initially in the video, so this is edited video that we have put together. but you hear them clearly making their demands. this is an officer that you see has segue there. this is one of the officers you routinely see going through the airport, the one in the lime green shirt there then you see another officer walking there. >> very dramatic video as we said before. and it is an indication of just how quickly things happened here. >> we're watching breaking news live on msnbc a shooting taking place in the last 30 minutes at dallas love field airport. it's reporting that officials on the ground there are emptying the airport as he writes during
10:57 am
the panic, passengers ran past the tsa checkpoint. he writes that everyone is going to have to be rescreened right now. joining us on the phone i believe is jim cavanaugh, the retired atf special agent. a contributor here at msnbc as well. we appreciate your being with us. we apologize it's always under circumstances like this. can you give us a sense of the investigation and moment like this and really what the marching orders are for officers when they unload their weapons in effect in an area that's crowded with passengers? >> well, they've got to be very careful. of course, dallas pd does the policing at love field. and i served in dallas, i was the assistant special agent in charge of the dallas division. love field, dallas police protect it. the officers somehow engaged someone right outside the terminal. and it was -- looked like to be quickly over. someone may have been shot or wounded or killed and they're
10:58 am
trying to secure the terminal. of course, what they don't know is, is this one guy doing one bad thing or is there more people involved. >> that's the real challenge right now. we have no better detail whether this is isolated or what it is beyond that. in situations like this they can't take any chances, they have to secure the terminal as we were just reporting a. reporter on the ground there saying many people in the panic rushed past the tsa checkpoint, which means everybody has to clear out. for those who have travelled through dallas' love field, this is a major hub for southwest airlines. obviously while it may just be a single isolated episode there's a better than good chance this will have a ripple effect that affects flights as they go else where. even if the flights were ready to take off as planned, there are not necessarily passengers able to board them right now we are hearing from sources in the dallas area that this situation is apparently at this point under control. jim, to you more broadly, in
10:59 am
terms of the investigation if police were following one individual they can quickly communicate among themselves who this person was and why they were trying to follow this person. >> what we don't know is this a criminal fugitive, a person who was wanted, you know, trying to be apprehended for some criminal activity or is it some other thing, you know, a person who just wanted to shoot people, terrorist activity. could be a lot of things. but whatever happened there, caused officers to respond, you know, with their duty weapons. and to fire shots. did this guy pull a gun, was he there to kill someone. you know, a domestic dispute, revenge could be a lot of things. you talked to peter about people running past security and you know that stuff will keep you alive. if you react to a situation like that, to get away, to barricade, to remove yourself.
11:00 am
don't be critical of yourself for doing it. the thing is react with your -- keep your head on your shoulders. react and get away and you'll be safe. >> again, if you're just joining us here as we approach the 2:00 hour in the east, 1:00 in dallas, texas, we are watching breaking news right now. a shooting that took place about 40 minutes ago at dallas love field airport. we have instagram video that's what you're seeing on the left side of your creascreen where of these individuals captured this moment as it happened. authorities cornering an individual, yelling at that person before a total of nine or ten shots we hear on the tape were fired. we know one individual has been injured. we do not believe that is a member of law enforcement. that person is presently being transported to one of the nearby hospitals there. and we are also now learning that passengers at dallas love field, and only a matter of 40 minutes time, are being rescreened and allowed back into the te
