tv Andrea Mitchell Reports MSNBC June 13, 2016 9:00am-10:01am PDT
9:00 am
shootishoo shooting of america's history continues. we know 49 people are dead and 50 wounded and 48 of the 49 have been killed and identified at this point. authorities are still in the process of informing the families to. the gunman omar mateen traveled in saudi arabia twice once in 2011 and again in 2012. president obama after meeting with his national security team expressed solidarity with the families and victims. >> our hearts go out to families of those who have been killed and prayers going to those who have been wounded. this is a devastating attack on all americans. >> this hour, we are expecting several major updates and any moment fbi director, james comy will be giving us the latest and
9:01 am
a briefing from the white house and hillary clinton is in ohio where she will hold her first campaign since this tragedy, she's expected to take on donald trump over his comments over the past 24 hours. here in orlando, family members are searching for their loved ones including this mother who have not heard from her son christopher, she spoke with matt lauer this morning. >> my two boys, christopher and his boyfriend were in the club together with two other friends and those two friends went to the bathroom before they were getting read doi leave. the two friends in the bathroom heard the gunshots. he's very identifiable. >> he would have keys or his wallet. >> reporter: hello everyone, i am kate snow in orlando. andrea will join us in cleveland, ohio where we are
9:02 am
expected to hear more reactions come fing from hillary clinton. >> blake mccoy is at the command center in florida. kei pete williams will be joining uus us. his news conference is expected moments if now. we are learning new information of mateen's car. we are outside mateen's home in florida, what can you tell us of that search? >> reporter: the search is ongoing right now. the search is concluded. what is taking place right now is strong presence of journalists. i want to give you a sense of the area, we'll start with where that search took place. this is the apartment complex where omar mateen lived. we believe with his wife and
9:03 am
son. this is the area where the search took place last night. before midnight last night, the police and fbi came to the apartment which is right here actually and made the way, they spent several hours here and ultimately left it. you can see right now there is no restrictions and no limitations being put by the fbi in turns physically entering the apartment. it is as we understand, has been vacant since the early hours this morning. we have not seen activities around here and among the neighbors. we tried to knock on a few doors to speak to some people here and we did not get a chance to speak to anyone. you can see it is a relatively small complex, not that large and non description. one interesting item that the fbi did identify was this silver area here. you can see kind of -- those
9:04 am
little red stickers on the side of the door, those are marked fbi evidence. the vehicle itself inside the car has some fbi search and seizure warrant documents that's placed in the front seat. some of the paper work and things are taken out. hanging on the mirror are some personal items including islamic prayer. on the back there is a u.s. marine court sticker. we are seeing that's been tapped by the fbi. it is not clear why they did not remove the vehicle or they left it over night. >> there is no fbi presence anymore. when they were here throughout the course of the night, this entire area was sealed off as they conducted their search inside that apartment. for now, it seems that this particular folks of the investigation is no longer of a particular interest for what the
9:05 am
fbi is doing on-site, kate. >> all right, thanks so much, lets go back to nbc's blake mccoy, he's at the command center here in orlando. blake, what can you tell us at this hour, what do we know? >> reporter: this morning, we saw the governor sourrounded by local leaders ensuring the community that they are working together to get the community through this crisis. all the bodies have been removed from the pulse nightclub. right now, is notifying the remaining families of the loss of their loved ones. they have notified 36 families and not just here in orlando but around the country. there are 49 in total that needs to be notified that their loved ones is no longer with us. that is their first priority. the fbi is handling the investigation so local law enforcement is working to assist those families. they brought in resources across the state to make sure they have what they need. the fbi is reconstructing the
9:06 am
crime scene inside pulse nightclub, they are following up to leads and interviewing everyone of this gunman knows. they're not ruling out potential that some people will be charged later down the road. if we don't have all the information we would hope to have at this point, they need to maintain their investigation and integrity. th that's why law enforcement is being careful of what they are sharing. kate, a go fund me page has been set up, $1.6 billion so far. it is the fastest they have topped a million dollars by any go fund me site, kate. >> all right, blake mccoy, thanks, as we are away, the fbi director you see down there at the bottom of your screen there, we are waiting for the director of the fbi, that's where our justice correspondenkrocorrespo williams, he's standing by for
9:07 am
that. this is national fbi, pete. >> reporter: the fbi director and the deputy attorney general will be starting about 12:15. think of what you will hear from the fbi director is a little details that the fbi has had with omar mateen. once they have connection to flo known terrorists -- again, he had some contact with the man from the florida city where he lived who had been to syria and gotten some training and came back and eventually went back to syria and carried out suicide bombing. it was during that visit to the u.s. that there was some contact where the fbi interviewed them again and determining contact was minimal. in both cases of case closed. we'll hear more details from the fbi director about that and what
9:08 am
they are finding about whether they have a connection with terrorists over seas. >> pete, when it comes to the purchase of the firearm that he was able to obtain, i know those are legally purchased, would there been any kind of red flag just because he was investigated prior by the fbi. >> reporter: no, i think it is a question whether there should be but under federal law, the only thing the fbi check is whether if anything is disqualified of his background when they buy the gun. felony sconviction and -- withot that, the fbi cannot stop the gun sales. >> all right, pete williams is standing by right outside that room you are looking at in the lower right side of your screen there, we are waiting for the fbi director. let me go back to ahmen.
9:09 am
we are getting new comments of the father of omar, what can you tell us? >> reporter: the investigation continues to look at the profile who omar mateen is of his mental state and background. we were able to fill in some of the details. we heard from his ex-wife that he's mentally unstable and he abused her and a former police officer who said he was aggressive and at times seems to have these outburst anger and very racisracist. we heard from his father who seems to be very shocked. he spoke to our reporters and here is what he had to say about his son in this situation. >> yesterday i was in shocked and my whole family us in shocked and i did not know what i was saying if i say anything, i apologize for that and if i
9:10 am
made a mistake. i wish this was good news or happy news. as a father, i don't want any father to go through what we are going through. i don't approve of what he did and what he did was completely act of terrorist. i wish i know what he was doing, if i catch him, i would arrest him myself. >> reporter: you heard there that the father saying had he known his son doing this and of this plot, he would have turn himself in and turn his son in. the kind of mental statement that mateen was in and the questions of the fbi is going to answer by his radicalization and his contact of any possible over seas links. the image of the permit is
9:11 am
emerging. he's certainly has some kind of mental issues, at least according to his ex-wife, he was very angry at times and abused her. he was currently married as we understand it. we are still trying to have access or working on both his mother and as well as his current wife to get a better sense of his better condition. the final day in the run off really is to this massacre that took place in orlando, kate. >> all right, we heard earlier from sanders saying his current wife and the child is with the parents. we'll learn more from the fbi of about whether there is any pursuit of any kind of charges against anyone else in the family. we'll hear from that. the two presumptive nominees, hillary clinton and donald trump quickly to react.
9:12 am
donald trump hammering the president for not using the term "radical is islam." this morning, hillary responding to trump's comment. >> he has not been listening. i have clearly said that we are facing terrorist enemies. we have to stop them and we will. we have to defeat radical jihadist terrorism and we will. to me, radical islam, it means the same thing. all these talks and rhetoric is not going to solve the problem. i am not going to declare war on an entire religion, it is dangerous and it plays in isis' hands. >> over the weekend, trump posted several comments on twitter and one of them he said,
9:13 am
appreciate the congrats for being right on terrorism. i don't want congrats. i want to be smart. >> savannah pressing him on this this morning. >> why you giving yourself credit on predicting something that everyone knows it happens sadly. >> oh, i don't know. i am not sure if the president knows if you want to know the truth. he won't even use the term of radical islamic. he won't use the term which i think is insulting to our country and insulting to everybody. >> just this morning, donald trump went after both president obama and hillary clinton tweeting, i have been hitting president obama and crooked hillary hard on not using term "radical islamic," andrea mitchell is joining us now in cleveland where she's covering
9:14 am
hillary clinton's speech later today, she's speaking at 12:30. she adjusted her speech aly b le bit. what will she address today? >> both of the candidates have changed their agenda today. >> reporter: he cancelled the rally in port smith. he will do what he did yesterday resurrect the muslim ban and despite protests of paul ryan and other republican leaders. he does not care what paul ryan says. he thinks this is effective and this is the tactic that he's taking. you see the divide -- this has been without music and cleveland
9:15 am
officials here being introduced and applauded. it is much more somber address hitting donald trump saying he's unfit for office. what you heard him say this morning was such an escalation against president obama. he said, in fact, there are many people who think maybe the president does not want to get it while noting that he does not think so. he's suggesting for the first time that the president is in some ways pathetic with this islamic terrorists. his interview with savannah guthrie today, you will see a sharp divide between the two candidates today, kate snow. first of all, hillary clinton expressing her sympathy for the lbgt community and speaking out strongly in controlling guns and especially those assault weapons. already, you heard from bill
9:16 am
clinton at the initiative in atlanta. so all of the clinton's messages today is about sympathies of the victims and strongly in support of her vision of national security and against donald trump saying he's not fit to be in the oval office. kate. >> andrea, donald trump is set to speak around 2:30. i know you had a chance to speak with some of his team. he's really been on the attack against the obama administration and says he will handle things better. what are we expecting out of his remarks? >> reporter: from him, you will hear him going down on the muslim ban and saying that intelligence has failed and going after president obama as he did this morning saying that whether he does not want to get it according to some people that
9:17 am
he does not get it. in fact, he thinks that the terrorists are as he sai said -- this is quite an escalation against president obama. his speech as he say is going to be on teleprompter and controlled. this will not be a big rally. you will see the star contrast today between the two of them. and there will be no grun contrl or assault weapons banned. in fact, he said that people need to defend themselves and they need these assault weapons to defend themselves. that's contradictory of most people in law enforcement have said in the last couple of days and gabby gifford saying it
9:18 am
today. it is not just guns but assault weapons is in the front. that's something that president obama also pointed out today. >> andrea mitchell, watching all of it. thanks so much. we'll wait for those speeches from both candidates. as we await, the fbi director, this justice coming in from our nbc news investigation team. two law enforcement tells us here in nib that the gunman may have traveled to disney world toll plan an attack there. the fbi is still investigating this possibility. one source saying it was pre-operational. a second source says that he had gotten that far and the possibility that it was a social visit to disney world. investigators are taking a look at this. we know that as they review all aspects. we'll bring you updates on this as soon as we have this.
9:19 am
blake mccoy is back with us. again, what we are saying here is he may have traveled to disney world which is right near by where i am standing and potentially might have been casing the place but we are not sure yet. >> reporter: this is part of tracking his travel everywhere he went. the last five years he took two visits to the middle east of saudi arabia. investigators are looking into what was the nature of those visits and apparently both of those visits happening again in the last five years. they'll look at his travels around orlando and florida and the united states. that's where we learned with the san bernardino attack and other investigations like this that those cell phones and electronic records is so important. if they can get a working cell phone, they can then start tracking where he was and how many times he had been to the pulse before the night of the shooting. they can start to piece together
9:20 am
of a puzzle of the shooter. that's how they'll know whether or not he was planning an attack in disney world. we just don't know at this point but it is all being investigated. kate. >> all right, blake mccoy. keeping a watch at all of it at the joint center there here in orlando where law enforcement is gathered. joining me now is janet shanly, she's down the road in that direction at the regional medical center, it is really so striking, janet, how close by it is and down the block and so many injured were taken on saturday night onto sunday morning. where are you hearing now of the patients and how well some of them are doing. >> reporter: three minutes, we got new information just came in from a family member of tony
9:21 am
herraro. >> here the is mother and what she told us. >> i was so relieved and it was like seeing my baby all over again. it was an enormous release to just to see him. they confused him with another patient but i happen to find him first. >> did you let yourself think the worst? yes, i was ready to think of the worst. tony is not the type of person that's not to keep in contact with me. >> reporter: tony's dad just called me and tony is just out of intensive care, he's been put in a regular room. they have taken the breathing
9:22 am
tube out and his condition is upgraded. it is still serious, he was shot four times and three times to his back and the bullets came out in the front, no vital organs are damaged. he's recovering. kate, back to you. >> janet, that's such good news, i am glad we at least have one glimmer of hope. i wish that family all the best. any moment we'll be hearing more on the investigation into the gunman and the briefing of the fbi, we are about to tell you it is about to happen. now, i am going to toss it over to brian williams taking over our coverage here. >> thank you, what a nice development of that story thjan covered. we claim of any good news to this awful, awful event. the director was just over at
9:23 am
the white house part of the president national security team. he made the short drive back to fbi head quarters. they'll be seated at the other end, those two vacant chairs. one of them will be the fbi director and the other of this long table is lined by jou journalists. this is a long standing fbi tradition. the director will speak, that can be broadcast and recorded. after his initial remarks, recording devices are taken out of the room and they do more of a background session with reporters to explain information they may be working on and give guidance to the news media. we are all in this together trying to chase down the details of the story. generally, these are the reporters who cover the justice department like our own people, pete williams, in washington,
9:24 am
capitol hill and the white house. this is done periodically and especially when we are following a story of notes. pete williams is a pfrequent guest at this table. there is the director of the fbi. >> good afternoon everyone and thank you all for being here today. we are here to discuss the justice department's response to this stunning act in orlando. our hearts are broken for the losses of the people of orlando have suffered, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their families and loved ones. as the attorney general said yesterday of the full report
9:25 am
including fbi and atf and the national office, they're all supporting the ongoing investigation. our agents and investigators have been on the ground since the beginning and have been working around the clock since yesterday. they'll continue to do so in the days ahead. i want to thank our law enforcement colleagues in florida for their tire less and extraordinary work so far and their dedication to the ongoing investigation. i have also been contacted with the attorney general who's currently on her way back to china and continuing to monitor development of the case. words cannot express the depth of our sorrow or the measure of our grief for a loss that's been suffered by those and lives that have been changed forever. what happened in orlando yesterday was a horrifying act, a horrifying act of evil and terror. from the lgbt community, pulse
9:26 am
was a place to go to celebrate and see friends. it was a place to promise inclusion and freedom to be themselves of the same promise our country holds for everyone. this was an attack on that promise. it was an attack on our values as a country and our national community. it was an attack on who we are as a nation and as people. and, our country is a whole staying united and response to this despicable act. right now, i will turn it over to our fbi director. >> thank you, i want to echo what is said right now. our hearts, we are so sorry for your loss and your suffering. i want to say a word of thanks
9:27 am
and express admiration of law enforcement. we are very lucky for such people choose life service of law enforcement. last, i want to say thanks to the people that rendered care that saves lives at the scene. the nurses and the ordinary citizens who stop to help family and friends. you showed us the best part of humanity in the midst of this terrible loss. this is led by the fbi with assistance as we always do of our state local and federal partners. the reason for that is there is strong indications of radicalization by this killer. and a potential inspiration by far terrorist organizations. we are spending a tremendous amount of time trying to understand every moment of this killer's path to that terrible
9:28 am
night in orlando to understand his motives and the details of his life. you will notice that i am not using the killer's name and i will try not to do that. part of what motivate sick people to do this kind of thing is some twisted notion of fame or glory and i don't want to be apart of that for the sake of the victims and the families. and so other twisted minds don't think that this is a path to fame and recognition. what i want to do is give you sense of what we know so far and tell you as much as i can about auer past contact with the killer. we are going to the killer's life as i said especially of histrioni histrioni his electronics to understand as much as we can. we have seen no indication that this was a plot directed from outside the united states, we see no indication that he was part of any kind of network. also, not entirely clear at this point what terrorist group he
9:29 am
inspired to support. although, he made clear his infinity at the time of h is attack for isil and generally leading up to the attack for radical islamic groups. he made 911 calls from the club during the attack about 2:30 in the morning, sunday morning and with three different calls. he called and he hung up and he called again and spoke briefly with the dispatcher and he hung up. and then the dispatcher called him back again and they spoke briefly. there were three total calls. during the calls he said he was doing this for the leader of isil who he named and pledged loyalty to. he also appeared to claim solidarity with the perpetrator of the boston marathon bomber and the florida man who died as a suicide bomber in syria. a group in conflict with the so called islamic state.
9:30 am
the bomber of the boston marathon were not inspired by isil. we are working understand what role this anti-bigotry may played in this attack. again, it is early, we are working hard to understand the killer and his motives and his source of inspiration. we are highly confident that this killer was radicalized and at least in some part through the internet. so that's what we have been doing, now, let me tell you what i care about the fbi's prior contact with the killer. we first became aware of him in may of 2013. he was working as a contract security guard at a local courthouse. he made statements that were inflammatory and contradictory
9:31 am
that concerned his co-workers. first, he claimed family connection to al-qaeda and a member of the shea organization that's a big enemy of the so called islamic state, isil. he hopes that law enforcement would raid his apartment and assault his wife and child so he can murdered himself. when this was reported to us, the fbi opened an investigation. over the next ten months we attempted to determine whether he was a possible terrorist, something we do in hundreds of cases all across the country. our investigation involved introducing confidential sources to him and recording conversations with him and following him and reviewing transaction records of communication and searching all government holdings of any possible connections and any possible drerogatory.
9:32 am
we interviewed him twice. he explained he did it in anger because he thought his co-workers were taesing him because he was muslim. two months later in july of 2014, the killer's name surfaced again in an in direct way. our miami office was investigating the florida man who had blown himself up for the musr front in syria. we learned from the investigation that the killer knew him casualty from attending same mosque in that area of florida. investigation turned up no ties of athe two of them. he had once had been concerned of the killer. the killer had mentioned a
9:33 am
video. the witness concluded he later got married and had a child and got a job as security guard. he was no longer concerned about him. our investigation turned to the killer to find out if he had any significant contact with the suicide bomber. we'll continue to look forward in this investigation and backwa backward. we'll leave no stones unturned and we'll work all day and all night to understand the path to that terrible night. we are also going to look hard at our own work to see whether if there is something we could have done differently. so far, the answer is i don't think so and i don't think anything reviewing our work that our agents should have done differently. we'll look at it and be transparent about it. our work is challenging. we are looking for needles in a
9:34 am
nationwide hay stack, we are looking and calling out which piece of hay may become with immedia needles. but, we'll tell you as much as we possibly can. let me close by saying something that i have said before. we know this killing is upsetting to all all americans. we hope that our fellow americans will not let fear become disabling. we hope that you will channel this sense of anxiety into something more positive which is an awareness of your surroundings and seeking of opportunities to help your fellow americans as we saw with the tremendous lives people giving blood in orlando. if you channel that anxiety in awareness, you can live your
9:35 am
life and allow those who pay to in vis gate to stop terrorists doing that work while you live this full life that this great count country offers you. every single cases that we look back, somebody always sees something they should have told us and they did not. please don't let them make you work in a state of anxiety that's disabling. find ways to channel that in your surroundings and live your lives. we'll keep you posted of what we learn in doing our work. thank you very much. >> at this point in this room, the camera fades to black and the camera will get shut off and the director of the fbi and the assistant attorney general will take some questions from the news media who covered the justice department and be able as best as they can to guide reporters on some of these stories of what we heard there. we heard from the fbi fbi director who says they are
9:36 am
reviewing their own words as well and they're looking at all clues leading up to this. he does not think signals were missed but as you heard his advice for americans is to turn anxiety, fear and lets face it, these are scary pictures and an awful situation in orlando. but, to channel that anxiety into what the military and police called situational awareness. just being more aware of our environment especially those of us who live in american cities. we happy to be joined right now by the vice chair senate of the intelligence committee, senior from california, the democratic, diane feinstein. is there anything from your briefings that you can share with us coming out of orlando? >> reporter: no, not precisely, i think what the director of the fbi just said though is very important.
9:37 am
and, i subscribe to those thoughts entirely. i think one of the problems in the country that it is so easy for terrorists to buy guns. i have been trying for a long time to pass the law. it says if you are on a terrorist watch list, you cannot buy guns. it is not true today surprisingly enough. actually, this legislation was written in 2007 by the bush white house when an american who went over to practice suicide bombings advised people to exploit america's gun laws and go out and buy guns and kill people. that's where we are today, virtually no legislation to protect americans have been past.
9:38 am
this i tried after the san bernardino situation to propose once again and there is a bill on the floor, the bill is simple and simiply sets some criteria that could place you on a terror watch list. if i may read that to you because i think it is important because this fails, and it is important to know what the government needs to do to be able to protect you. and it simply says the attorney jonah deny the transfer of a firearm under certain sections. if the attorney general determines that is a transferee is suspected or have been engaged in conduct or constituting in preparation for in aid of or related to terrorism or providing materials support for resources for
9:39 am
terrorism. two, has a reasonable belief that the perspective transferee may use a firearm in connection of terrorists. that finding could have been made by the fbi after the two conferences and after the two brief investigations that were conducted based on things that the fbi was told about this perpetrator. >> now, senator, for our viewers who may have reasons to wonder why such a law is so difficult, what ises the answer in plain english? >> oh, it is unbelievable. this is to put people on the watch list to prevent terrorists from buying guns in this country. today and that's what adam gadan was saying, exploit this and go in and buy the guns.
9:40 am
we try to plug that loophole and last year, after san bernardino, the maximum number of votes we got were 45. well, i would like to try again and i hope we'll try again as an amendment of one of the bills coming up soon. we need the american people to support this. the ease with which a potential terrorist can buy a weapon in this country is frightening. what you will hear is all but we do a background check. well, it is been shown that 90% of potential terrorist past background checks. the others that don't, the 10% are fugitives and felons and others. it is the background check that does not stop anybody. but, being on the watch list and making a prohibition to buy a gun if you are on the watch list, i believe will. why not try it? because this is not going to be the last terrorist event in this
9:41 am
country. >> senator, do you think the fbi missed any of the dots out there or do you think it is a world with too many dots and too vast attac attacks. >> i am not going to blame the fbi because it is difficult. it is difficult and i think they're behind it all, there is a feeling well, they don't really support the kind of things we have to do to ferry out these guys. bear in mind there is an investigation of the terrorist in every state of the union. hundreds of arrests for aiding and abetting terrorism of good intelligence of the last five years. this is very difficult. this is the biggest shooting in history. if we don't do something about it by amending our loss to make it easier for the fbi and law
9:42 am
enforcement to get a potential terrorist before he commits the act. i think we are very foolish indeed. >> final question senator, how much extinction do you play on the difference between something isis directed or isis inspired. we are hearing all these terms including this terrorist was self radicalized, perhaps. >> to me it is not a big difference. the isis inspired means some directions flowing out of a terrorist in other country to a potential or terrorists in this country. self made is what is happening. i don't think you need all that inspiring. the magazines are out as well as isis put out magazines to be and inspired. they recruit and they are
9:43 am
successful. the social media program are successful in recruiting potential terrorists. i think anybody that's disgu disgruntle in our excite can use this disgruntlement and use terror to combine the two of them. it is not exactly simple and it can happen but, what's we are responsible for is seeing that our loss are adequate to meet the challenges at the time. frankly speaking with respect to guns they are no. >> senator, something tells me we'll be repaying your eating y. senator, diane feinstein of california, thank you very much for joining us. now, lets go back to kate snow in orlando. >> reporter: all right, brian, thanks so much. lets show the scene outside the white house last night.
9:44 am
[ crowd chanting ] >> reporter: that was men's chorus singing outside the white house last night, spontaneous vigils and tributes pouring in from cities across the country. here in orlando, the city is coming together to bereagrieve. joining me now is chad griffin, he flew down to orlando. you wanted to be here. >> indeed, we have tens of
9:45 am
thousands of people here and here are grieving and folks just want that one last opportunity to hug their loved ones and say i love you. they have been robbed of that because of hate. hate that was offered to someone and it was the same hate that talked to those done this same assault against other lgbt people. talking of the 49 people out there. >> it is a tragedy. when i think of most of us, i am at a loss of words to describe the loss. kate, go back to the year i was born in 1973 in new orleans, there was a brutal attack in a bar where 30 lgbt table burned to death. what is common here in it is the same hate.
9:46 am
no one is taught fwoborn to hat. >> reporter: what's hard for all of us to process is the intersection of what we heard director coleman talking about and radicalization and potential terrorist groups and he described several groups he seem to have allegiance forward. and so many others with gun rights as well. >> there is no question, there is a toxic mix that makes a moment like this possible. unfortunately, you pair a range dilutional person with someone who has taught them hate and whether it is a terrorist group or a parent or a preacher on sunday morning at church of his faith and you put a gun in their hands, you make it easy for them to have access to a weapon. that's what causes this tragic
9:47 am
moment. >> reporter: i want to add on the positive note. we just showed all of the support and the many, many people straight and gay who are coming out and saying enough is enough, this is not right. did you feel that? >> there is no question. the out powuring support and no here in this country but around the world. people are standing up and saying to loved ones and those who are suffering that we are here for you, we are here for you and today and over the next many weeks, we are all part your family. >> chad griffin, thank you very much for being with us. >> thank you. we are keeping a close eye on these two live events that we mentioned. we'll show you cleveland ohio where hillary clinton is expected to speak and the white house's briefing room. keep it right here on the latest terror attack in orlando. why do so many businesses
9:48 am
rely on the us postal service? because when they ship with us, their business becomes our business. that's why we make more e-commerce deliveries to homes than anyone else in the country. here, there, everywhere. united states postal service priority: you for crash survival, subaru has developed ours most revolutionary feature yet. a car that can see trouble and stop itself to avoid it. when the insurance institute for highway safety tested front crash prevention nobody beat subaru models with eyesight. not toyota. not ford or any other brand. subaru eyesight. an extra set of eyes, every time you drive. prge! a manufacturer.

that we can do to stop acts of terror. the other thing is to expand those affected background checks to gun shows and online sales. even if we do have those measures in place like licensed gun dealers of those same people in the state and of convicted criminal can walk in a gun show or go online and buy a gun, no questions asked. it is not that complicated. you cannot say you are against terrorism in this country. just like you cannot say you are against crime in this country and be against these background checks that have the opportunity to prevent guns or everything, but, it will prevent a lot of them from falling in the hands of the people we all agree to have them. >> dan, we appreciate you spending some time with us today. >> thank you, kate. >> we continue to standby for hillary clinton in cleveland ohio, her remarks on the mass shooting here in orlando is
