not were you in the room when donald trump got nominated fl i think that's significant. >> you gave a plat out no, his political career is not ruined. does that mean does ted cruz -- hillary clinton would want to win in 2016 so ted cruz can jump back in and run in 2020. is that what he plans. >> he's not a calculated politician, he's a principled guy. he already said the next day he was not voting for hillary clinton. he might vote for donald trump but it's unlikely he would endorse him. >> ahead, push back for 2020, not the calculating politician but you all think about the future, he wants to do it, a principled maybe. in that sense, for the sake of principle and the direction of the united states, do you see that being a thought in his mind looking ahead 2020 and running then, having hillary clinton within this time around so he can do that? >> i don't think so. i think he'll focus on re-election in the senate. by the way, also focusing on, as

think the tone of that speech, did you find any inspirational moments, something that would bring independents to him? >> i don't know that people were inspired by the speech. i think people may have been moved by the speech. because if the country is in the kind of condition that donald trump said it's in, you would want to see something to happen to fix it. really depends who you are and where you are individually. if you're hurting right now, not working, working part time, not full time, you don't have benefits. if you're somebody who had a hard time last several weeks you're probably listening closely to donald trump and taking his message to heart. >> okay. when it comes to conventions, most bring a bump to candidates. according to this new reuters poll, here is the latest one, 41% hillary clinton, 38% donald trump. so rick, do you think this will
