this morning, much of it from his own party after making controversial remarks in response to the parents of an american soldier killed in iraq. khizr khan took the stage to condemn trump's proposals and statements about muslims. khizr khan said trump had sacrificed nothing and no one and questioned if he had read the u.s. constitution. in a statement saturday the trump campaign responded saying in part, captain khan was a hero to our country. the real problem here are the radical islamic terrorists who killed him. but it did not end there with both donald trump and khizr khan taking to the sunday shows this weekend. >> what sacrifice have you made for your country? >> i think i've made a lot of sacrifices. i work very, very hard. i've created thousands and thousands of jobs. tens of thousands of jobs. built great structures. i've done -- i've had -- i've had tremendous success. >> those are sacrifices?

>> now, republicans in particular have been quick to respond to trump's comments. ohio governor john kasich tweeted, there's only one way to talk about gold star parents, with honor and respect. senator lindsey graham issued a statement saying in part, unacceptable. doesn't even begin to describe it. and without mentioning him by name, both senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and speaker paul ryan rebuked trump's comments directed to khizr khan. in response to the backlash trump's vice presidential running mate mike pence issued a statement saying he and trump believe that captain khan is an american hero and his family like all gold star families should be cherished by every american. on the heels of the dnc cyber attacks we're learning that a computer program used by the clinton campaign was also hacked. the clinton campaign acknowledged on friday what while a computer system it used was hacked there's no evidence that intruders got in to internal campaign networks. a federal law enforcement official tells "the new york times" the attack appears to have come from russia's

intelligence services. news of that apparent breach comes after cyber attacks on both the democratic national committee and the democratic congressional campaign committee's system and according to "the wall street journal" the newly revealed breach on the clinton campaign is part of what cybersecurity and federal investigators believe is a broad pattern of attacks directed by russian intelligence. donald trump raised eyebrows last week when he said he will consider recognizing russia's 2014 annexation of crimea from ukraine and possibly lift sanctions. and in an interview this weekend trump said he is unfamiliar with changes to the republican platform on ukraine and appeared to forget russia's invasion. >> why did you soften the gop platform own ukraine? >> i wasn't involved in that. honestly -- >> your people were involved. >> i was not involved in that. i'd like to -- i'd have to take a look at it. >> they took away the part of the platform calling for provision of lethal weapons to ukraine to defend themselves. why is that a good idea? >> look, you know, i have my own

health authorities in florida, they are waging a door-to-door fight to contain the spread of the zika virus. health officials have been going to the homes in the area to collect urine samples from residents. they're concentrating on a one square mile area where the four victims live but the mayor says the city's been spraying areas to combat mosquitoes. >> we haven't had any mosquitoes come back positive to the zika virus so we're not entirely sure how this was -- how they have asquared the virus here. >> test results from those samples could come back today. england is warning pregnant women to avoid travel to florida. the town of ellicott city, maryland, is devastated. the city declared a state of emergency in the wake of a flash

flood and the scenes of floodwaters which swept through that city's historic district are unbelievable. look at that. two people were swept away. but thanks to the heroics of countless good samaritans at least 120 people were rescued. >> i will never forget seeing that video of the human chain saving that person out of that car. i'll never forget that. because that tells me what people in ellicott city are like. >> that is extraordinary. and it all happened after almost six inches of rain fell during a two-hour period saturday night. that's what caused a nearby river to rise more than 13 feet. at least four buildings on the city's main street were totally destroyed. dozens more suffering significant damage. wow. >> incredible. >> bill karins, my heavens. >> you think maybe the mountains of colorado we had pictures like that in the mountains of virginia and west virginia. this was only 15 miles from downtown baltimore. of that six inches of rain, three fell in 30 minutes. and that is a lot of water in a short period of time.

it is a little hilly in that area, and pretty incredible stuff. that was right around 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. saturday night when those incredible images happened. and we did lose two lives on that. and flash flooding is one of the deadliest killers in this country. so we still have a thread of more flash flooding. few areas in new jersey saw significant flash flooding over the weekend. it was gloomy, super humid air mass still remains. we still have a flash flood watch for the trenton area north of philadelphia to reading into the northern portions of new jersey and again the ground is so saturated. we're going to get a couple of additional thunderstorms this afternoon. one or two inches. that will produce additional flash flooding problems. hopefully nothing like what we saw there in the devastating video. one lone thunderstorm along the jersey shore. cape cod light rain and north carolina is drying out. this afternoon with all the humid air in place if we get any sunshine we're going to have scattered thunderstorm all through this region from southern new england down to the south. here's the radar at 5:00. you notice some scattered storms everywhere you see the red and

yellow is thunderstorms. light green are just some showers. north carolina to charlotte to raleigh northward, scattered hit and miss showers and maybe even a few downpours. i do not expect horrible problems at the airports today, which is good. just some stray thunderstorms. here's the 24-hour rainfall forecast. again, it's patchy areas of heavier rain, eastern north carolina, the st. louis area could get some significant rain. i know we have some big flooding problems we'll talk about later in missouri and maybe half an inch of rain around new york to d.c. so today's forecast, very hot from texas all this in the middle of the country. they still have the heat we've going on near 100 degrees. cooler, beautiful air in the great lakes. showers and storms from d.c. to new york. notice d.c. i expect more sunshine for you. that's why you could hit 90. only in the 70s from new york city northward where it should stay cloudy through the day. even into tuesday, it begins to dry out in the east. a stray shower or storm but this is one of the first really soupy, cloudy wet weekends we had in the east. a lot of areas were in a drought. some of the rain was welcome. just not what happened in
