country. it is pretty basic to understand what president putinhas h has d. he called him a strong leader. i would call john mccain a strong leader. i would call captain kahn a strong leader but not celebrate the slengt of president putin. >> and as you mentioned earlier back in february you thought when and if donald trump was faced with a general election he would be shifting, changing his tone as it relates to foreign policy. you mentioned you're not seeing that yet. if you don't see it soon what will you do? >> well, i'll have a choice to

make like many other americans. right now i have not seen any demonstrations of presidential tenure and temperament and base k knowledge about what it means to run a country as great as the united states of america. i think there's a long way to go but right now i would say very little evidence that mr. trump has either the background, interest or basic sense of understanding the world and how it works and also a decent respect for those who have served. i mentioned mccain before. there are others. a hero was captured during the second world war. just because people get captured doesn't mean they aren't heros and not worthy of praise. i think secretary of defense i went out, my wife went with me

on most occasions, to meet with heros who are out on the front lines risking their lives every second of the day to defend this country and for donald trump or anyone else to say on a broad brush that anyone of a muslim faith is an inscipient terroris. that is something that is un-american. we ought not to be doing that or saying that. we ought to -- in fact i wish mr. trump would call the kahns and say i'm sorry. your son was a hero. any way i can pay tribute to him then i will. >> if you're saying his actions seem to be un-american are you hopeful or how hopeful are you that he'll turn it around?

chairman of o shares etf. what do you make of what mark cuban had to say? he's a pretty independent guy. >> look, mark, as we all know from watching "shark tank," is a opinionated billionaire and is widely open in letting you know what that opinion is all of the time. and i think if you -- this election cycle is -- every election is different. but this one is unique, given the power that social media has had on it so early on in the cycle. normally, you and i would be having this conversation in october. and here we are in the dead of summer, discussing the outcomes of all kinds of comments being made by lots of people about trump. it's very, very divisive now, obviously. >> okay -- >> and social media matters. >> you're a guy with a lot of opinions too. do you agree with what mark cuban said? is. >> i don't look at it that way. i don't pick sides.

>> hold on a second. back in february, you predicted that donald trump would be the president, and you said stocks would go straight up. so you do give opinions. >> no, i think here's what's going to happen, okay? in the next six to eight weeks, we're finally going to get some policy from both parties. like mark cuban, and i think mark would agree with me when i say this, we care a lot about our businesses. we care about the hundreds of companies that we have invested in. i want what's best for them. for entrepreneurs. that's where we get all of our jobs in america. so tell me what the tax policy is going to be. so far, all we're talking about is what's going on in russia or what somebody said about the military. i haven't heard any discussion about tax policy from either clinton or from trump's party. i haven't heard anything about supporting entrepreneurs with less regulation. >> then -- >> and frankly, from what i have heard, i would say, a 15% corporate tax and a 10%

repatriation tax coming out of larry kudlow's mouth, who is supporting and helping trump develop policy, that's interesting to me. so i'm not going to say that today trump has the best candidacy for entrepreneurs. if you tell me that's the policy and firm it up, then i'll give the endorsement. >> you're canadian, so in a different position. what about the fact that warren buffett backing hillary clinton and mike bloomberg and mark cuban, three very successful guys who do know and care a lot about business? >> that's fair to say. and i am canadian. but i'm also irish, and my kids are born in the united states, i made all of my money in the united states and i call boston the place i created that wealth. i care what happens. i really do. i have no problem with buffett saying wants to pay more tax. that's a personal decision. i have never heard it to be a good idea for you to raise taxes when you have a no-growth economy. ever. of that's never been a good idea regarding your politics,

regarding which party you support. raising taxes in a no-growth environment seems a dumb idea to me. if that's the platform for either candidate, i would rather have the other one. sorry, that's what i think. >> but if the other one -- neither candidate has that as part of your platform, you're going to be, what, a gary johnson guy? >> no, listen. i think at the end of the day, two things determine who becomes president of the united states. every american wants the same two things. they want security and they want a job. so in the next 100 days, all of the rest of this rhetoric and noise is going to fall by the waysi wayside while the two candidates that have the highest probability of leading the country tell us how they're going to fix those two things. the things that matter to you and me, and every other american. can you keep me safe, and can you get me a job? and after we have listened to both of them, we're going to make our decision. and whoever can solve those two is going to become president of the united states. end of story. >> sounds like six to eight
