back endorsing trump. >> i'm just not ready to do that at this pont. i'm not there right now. i hope to support his candidacy fully. and i want to do that. but right now, just i got to tell you, jake, being candid with you, at this point, i'm just not there right now. >> well, trump said everybody wants my support when asked if ryan had asked for his support, ryan's office denies that. quote, neither speaker ryan nor anyone on his team has ever asked for donald trump's endorsement. we are confident in a victory next week regardless. ryan's opponent paul nehlen released a statement that said in part paul ryan's repeated betrayals of the gop nominee is beneath the dig knitty of the speaker's office and is naturally disqualifying. donald trump also hit back at john mccain the five-term senator and vietnam p.o.w. who rebuked trump for questioning the right of a fallen soldier's parents to criticize him. trump said, i haven't endorsed john mccain and i've never been there with john mccain because

has clinton ahead 43% to donald trump's 35%, increasing her lead from six to eight points since the democratic convention. let's turn now to business. global markets in the red this morning as the dow looks to snap a seven-day losing streak today. cnbc's luisa bojesen joins us live from london. good morning. >> good morning, chris. yeah, markets this morning here in europe relatively mixed. we opened flatish. we're just seeing a little bit more red on our screens, as it were. as you say, the dow, and the s&p both closing at three-week lows. we still have all this earnings momentum, the dollar pushing lower, and today you're going to be wanting to look out for the adp private sector employment data, and the ism nonmanufacturing data, as well. the market now not pricing in for a fed hike at any point until 2018. and the market by and large is trying to reposition for this in many instances.

just want to talk a little bit about what took place in after-hours trade yesterday. we saw aig the insurance company beating expectations raising their buyback program as well. they're going to be buying back $3 billion worth of shares. net income figure of $1.9 billion, up from $1.8 billion that we saw year-on-year. they're still on quite a lot of pressure to break themselves apart. we could be hearing more about that in the near future. fitbit popping up by more than 6% after they posted their second quarter numbers. you would recall that they listed quite recently they had this -- they went public back in june and since then reported five times the first four times after reporting you saw the stock dropping quite significantly afterwards because people think how are they going to manage to keep a grip on competition like apple in the long-term. but this time things are looking promising, and a little bit of a pop there. also just to mentionatesy up by 5% on the back of their quarterly numbers as well. >> luisa bojesen live from london thank you. president obama is calling the new campaign of airstrikes

against the islamic state group in libya a critical move. as the u.s. expands its military operations beyond iraq and syria, nbc news has exclusively obtained a map showing the global expansion of the terror group. cynthia mcfadden has the details. >> reporter: the u.s. launched more airstrikes against isis targets in libya. representing an expansion of u.s. military operations beyond iraq and syria. an nbc news exclusive, this map, part of the monthly classified briefing received by the white house. dated august 2016. from the national counterterrorism center. it shows the worldwide expansion of the islamic state. a stunning three-fold increase since the u.s. and its allies began their military campaign against isis two years ago. >> that map could probably be a lot bigger if they were to show all the aspirational regions where isis wants to operate. >> reporter: in 2014, there were

seven countries in which isis was operating. by 2015, that number was nearly double to 13. the briefing map indicates 18 countries where the islamic state is fully operational. and a new category, aspiring isis branches of which there are six countries include bangladesh where last month isis took credit for killing 24 people. in a year in which politicians are vigorously debating the war against terror, the battleground is clearly expanding. >> meantime the u.s. secretly shipped iran $400 million around the same time that country released four american prisoners. that's according to "the wall street journal" which says a combination of foreign currencies were packed on wooden pallets and flown to iran on an unmarked cargo plane in january. it cites u.s. and european officials and congressional staff briefed on the operation. the "journal" says u.s. officials deny the money was tied to the release of the prisoners, though, although the exact details were not revealed

it's worth noting that secretary of state john kerry did release a statement in january with much of this information as the prisoners were being released. kerry said the money was part of a $1.7 billion settlement with iran of a claim over a deal for the sale of military equipment back in 1979. he added that the settlement was made to cut litigation risks. republican vice presidential nominee mike pence wasted no time criticizing the reported move, while talking about the nuclear deal between the u.s. and iran at a rally in phoenix. >> if you haven't heard about it yet, tonight "the wall street journal" is actually reporting that on the day, and it's around the time the deal was done, and american hostages were being released, the administration airlifted $400 million in cash to iran. you know, we cannot have four more years accommodating and apologizing to our enemies or abandoning our friends. america needs to be strong for

so here's the forecast path for the storm. it will be over land in about 24 hours and then it will begin to weaken after that. they do have it going to the hurricane center to a category 180-mile-per-hour storm. so again that's going to be scattered power outages, not a horrible blow. not something you'd want to deal with down there in belize. our thoughts are with them as they prepare for that storm. there is some great weather out there. i know we're going to have a chance of severe storms in the northern plains. hot weather in the middle of the country. it is in the 60s. low 60s throughout much of new england. philadelphia, 67 is not bad. still a little warm in d.c. this afternoon this is as nice as it gets for august with a lot of sunshine throughout areas of the northeast. temperatures comfortable in the 80s. the humidity being low makes it feel nice. down in florida they'll deal with thunderstorms. there's the hot stuff, chris, in the middle of the country. hurricane season is ramping up and looks like it's belize's turn to deal with the hurricane probably later on tonight. >> all right thanks so much, bill. now let's get a check on the other headlines, louis burgdorf is back. >> 50 past the hour. baby duty continues for donald
