pentagon released new video of a u.s. warplane taking off from a carrier in the mediterranean headed for targets in libya. according to officials the operation successfully disabled an isis tank. the president says the u.s. will continue to support efforts against the islamic state but repeated his past claim that military might not be enough. >> even as we need to crush isil on the battlefield, their military defeat will not be enough. so long as their twisted ideology persists and drives people to violence, in groups like isil will keep emerging, and the international community will continue to be at risk in getting sucked into the kind of global whack-a-mole where we're always reacting to the latest threat or lone actor. that's why we're also working to counter violent extremism more broadly. >> hillary clinton took her campaign to las vegas yesterday where she continued to tout her jobs plan, and criticize donald trump. at one point, though, she was interrupted by a group of animal rights activists.
2:11 am
secret service agents rushed to the stage and after a few seconds clinton addressed the hecklers. >> keep talking, you handled it. >> okay, here we are. >> keep talking. >> okay. we'll keep talking, and we'll -- and apparently, these people are here to protest trump. because trump and his kids have killed a lot of animals. so thank you for making that point. >> later in the same rally clinton once again went after donald trump and tried to reach out to some of his supporters. >> somebody wants to be for trump because they're anxious, they're fearful, maybe they're angry because there's a lot to be concerned about. we need to talk. we need to talk. because we don't want you being sold the same bill of goods that the students who signed up to go to trump university were sold.

>> that message to trump supporters comes as the clinton campaign launches a broad effort to recruit potential republican converts. at the same time, in a sign of confidence, we've also learned the clinton campaign is slated to pause its television ads in virginia beginning next week. the campaign recently pulled its ads in colorado, as well. vice presidential nominee tim kaine did not hold back when it came to criticizing donald trump yesterday. accusing the republican nominee of discrimination. senator kaine spoke at the national urban league conference yesterday and kaine, a former civil rights lawyer, went off trump and trump's father over a 1973 civil rights case for allegedly violating the fair housing act. >> in 1973, "the new york times" reported that the justice department had filed suit after donald trump and his father for refusing to rent apartments to african-americans. it was one of the largest federal cases of its kind at the time. when federal investigators spoke with trump's employees, they said they were instructed to
