the toss-up column clinton is estimated to have 272 to trump's 190. now the republican nominee could sweep all of the remaining electoral votes and still come up short but president obama had a warning for democrats at a joint campaign fund-raiser with 60 donors on martha's vineyard yesterday. the president told the crowd paying to attend the $33,000 each quote if we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake. however, the president seemed comfortable with the state of the race saying, i don't have to make the case against her opponent, because every time he talks, he makes the case against his own candidacy. meanwhile, a campaign aide says trump and his running mate mike pence raised $1.5 million at a fund-raiser last night in evansville, indiana. >> now to a really tough situation in louisiana where the rain has stopped but search and rescue operations continue after historic flooding there. at least seven people are dead, though governor john bell edwards says officials won't

homes, and structures in northern california, and has burned more than 4,000 acres and is only about 5% contained governor jerry brown has issued a state of emergency and more than 1,000 personnel are on hand battling the blaze. california is facing what could be the worse wild fire season on record. >> tensions seem to be easing in milwaukee after two nights of violence. it comes after a 10:00 p.m. curfew took effect for teenagers last night. and while we didn't see the level of violence as the past two nights the city is still on edge. residents in the city's mayor are calling on the state to release the police body camera footage from the shooting of 23-year-old sylville smith as quickly as possible. but right now the state refuses saying it is part of the investigation. >> i want the video released. i believe the video will provide a lot of context as to what's going on. i have not seen the video. i saw -- i saw the still shot taken from the video in which

the individual had a gun in his hand. >> we'll wait to see when they release that video. now pennsylvania's attorney general has been convicted of leaking grand jury information. the jury announced last night they had found democrat kathleen kane guilty of all nine counts, including perjury and criminal conspiracy. prosecutors argued kane leaked documents to the media discredit a former state prosecutor and then lied to cover it up. her defense attorney said that she plans to appeal her conviction. >> -- conviction on all counts was a crushing blow i'm not going to say otherwise. but we have not lost our resolve. we will continue this litigation, we will continue this fight, because we believe that our client has been wrongfully, wrongfully accused of misconduct. >> kane, who was the first woman and first democrat elected as pennsylvania's attorney general faces up to seven years in prison. her trial saw a number of bizarre incidents, including kane's decision to release

welcome back. let's turn to business where one of the nation's largest health insurance providers will pull out of 70% of the counties that offer obamacare coverage and cnbc's hadley gamble joins us live from london. what does this mean for the future of the affordable care act? >> well, louis it certainly isn't very good news, is it? because at the end of the day you have to remember fewer insurance inside these public exchanges means costs will probably go up, and the coverage options are likely to go down, or at least become quite limited. aetna isn't the only company looking to do this. what we understand now is that united healthcare and humana as well two of the nation's largest insurers have said that they're looking to pull back from these public exchanges over the next couple of years as well. frankly these companies say it's just really bad for their business. and while they remain committed to making sure americans do receive healthcare they say the problem is that in these particular exchanges, they have too many older patients requiring extensive coverage and not enough young, healthy people. now another coverage, another

story that we're watching is a fallout from billionaire peter thiel's targeting of gawker. you have to remember that that company was forced into bankruptcy after peter thiel backed multimillion dollar lawsuits over a hulk hogan sex tape and what's happening at the moment is that the company of course is in bankruptcy, it's trying, of course, to go to auction and right now looks as if univision may be picking up the company and another story we're also watching is, of course, what's happening over at volkswag volkswagen. the justice department saying that company is looking to face civil and criminal charges. they haven't said just how much they're going to have to pay. but the last major lawsuit against a car company was toyota and that was $1.2 billion. so certainly it's going to be a big pay day for volkswagen. guys? >> big problems for volkswagen will city in touch on that one hadley gamble live from london. thanks so much. time now to get a check on the weather and what we can expect to today. nbc meteorologist bill karins, so for us here in the northeast it's feeling a little bit better bill. >> a little. not a lot. >> did you see that? that was a little. >> just a little pit.

it's amazing when it feels like only 100. our friends in louisiana the water levels are receding in almost all cases. that's good. they didn't get a lot of rain yesterday, just a few scattered showers this morning. that system is exiting up through michigan going to move through southern portions of canada during the day today and quebec and eventually this could spark some severe weather out ahead of it. right now unfortunately that warm front is going to move to the north. that means the humidity is on the increase once again up the east coast especially ahead of this cold front and once that cold front gets a little bit closer this afternoon we're going to spark some severe weather so marginally severe storms possible around lexington, louisville, columbus, ohio, cincinnati, through charleston, west virginia, even washington, d.c. but there's a lit risk of severe storms for 51 million people including a lot of the big cities new york, bat ma, philadelphia, hagerstown, state college, pittsburgh, syracuse, alba albany, hartford, providence and boston and we may see an isolated tornado or two in upstate new york today so we'll have to watch that carefully that will be around 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. will be the target time for that and of course with all these big cities with a

chance of some strong thunderstorms airport delays could be problematic. here's how it plays out. there's the front coming, there's the scattered storms popping up. new york city looks like threatening you around 7:00 p.m. philadelphia around 6:00 or 5:00. up to the north, scattered around 7:00 p.m. and moving through the capital disict right around 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. so thatill be the target time if we do get any of these isolated tornadoes. it will clear out by wednesday. wednesday a lot less humid. still warm but less humid throughout the region there and then the other story of course is the heat still heat warnings around philadelphia heat advisories where it will feel like 100 to about 105 today frances. so we're not done with the heat wave in areas of the mid-atlantic but the severe threat the danger later today. >> fingers crossed for louisiana and all those airs yeahs down there bill thank you very much. it's the olympics and we know the agony of defeat but look at this. not so bad, right? when you have this one athlete who celebrates loss in rio. that right there the olympic size fast food feast we'll bring you the details, and the menu ahead.

louisiana lessened significant yesterday many flood warnings have been extended through today and tomorrow as some people evacuate and others try to sandbag houses to save them. we'll have more from bill karins in just a few minutes. a california man has been arrested and charged with arson in connection to the state's clayton fire. the 40-year-old has been charged with 17 counts in connection with several fires over the past year including the massive fire that broke out on saturday. it destroyed more than 175 homes, and structures in northern california, and has burned more than 4,000 acres and is only about 5% contained governor jerry brown has issued a state of emergency and more than 1,000 personnel are on hand battling the blaze. california is facing what could be the worse wild fire season on record. >> tensions seem to be easing in milwaukee after two nights of violence. in the wake of saturday's police-involved shooting. it comes after a 10:00 p.m. curfew took effect for teenagers last night.

and while we didn't see the level of violence as the past two nights the city is still on edge. residents in the city's mayor are calling on the state to release the police body camera footage from the shooting of 23-year-old sylville smith as quickly as possible. but right now the state refuses saying it is part of the investigation. nshs's kerry sanders took a ride through that community for us last night. >> you can see out here what the authorities have done to sort of up-armor one of the vehicles that's out here. this is the vehicle that the sheriff's department has put in to place. there's also the police department which is here, doing the same thing, just maintaining and showing presence, but not trying to instigate, or in any way cause some sort of reaction from people in the streets. you know, i say instigate, the authorities say they're never here to instigate, but the folks in the community say when they see the police officers coming at them, or the deputies coming at them with shields, with riot

helmets, they say that that seems to them to be an instigation. so clearly this is a community that is on edge, and there's distrust, and that distrust breeds the problems that we've seen here in recent nights. frances? >> kerry sanders, thank you so much for that report out of milwaukee, wisconsin. an arrest has been made in connection with sunday's shooting deaths of a new york city imam and his assistant. 35-year-old oscar morale has been charged with two counts of murder. officers say a gun and clothing were found at his home and the gun was found hidden behind dry wall and screws. listen to how they tracked down the suspect. >> during that video canvass we were able to identify a vehicle. we also identified the person running into that car and taking off directly after the homicide. detectives immediately took that car, trailblazed it, put it into our data systems and came up with a car accident in a hit and run. this is about three miles away. we immediately responded to that

location, and pulled video from that corner, and we looked at the two cars, and they were identical. we looked at stickers, and decals on each of the windshields, and they seemed identical. again, we had no plate at that time. at that point we began to do a grid search, we thought we had our person at this point. we then sat on a car that we found a couple hours later, in the vicinity of that hit and run. and waited for that person to emerge from that block. that person emerged about 10:00 last night and got into the vehicle. detectives from the fugitive task force approached the car, and then he rammed the detective's car several times in an effort to get away. >> police have not declared a motive and have not ruled out a hate crime. the funeral services held yesterday for the imam and his assistant. both were killed in broad daylight after leaving a prayer service early sunday afternoon. still ahead oh, man it is

gold instead earning bronze on the balance beam behind her 16-year-old teammate laurie hernandez who claimed silver. in the first week of olympic competition, biles picked up team, all-around, and vault gold but last night settling for tt bronze after a miscue on the balance beam while attempting a front flip called, for big point deductions, and gold medalist 24-year-old sanne wevers of the netherlands earning the first olympic individual medal of any kind for a dutch female gymnast. okay. here's a look at the olympic medal count so far in spite of the fact that for the first day of this game team usa did not win gold. the u.s. still leads all medal categories by a lot 26 gold, 23 silver, 26 bronze, the total 75 olympic medals. china remains a distant second it's followed by graib, and russia, and louis, we're way ahead of where we were in this exact same in 2012. >> we've got to give simone biles a break there.

welcome back. the defense department has announced that 15 detainees at the guantanamo bay detention facility have been transferred to the united air be emirates. the group includes 12 yemenis, and 3 afghan nationals, and is the single largest transfer under president obama. the move comes six months after the president announced his latest desire to close down guantanamo, which has faced pushback from congress. united nations peacekeepers are being accused of not answering calls for help during a deadly attack on a compound by a south sudanese soldier in one of the worst targeted attacks on aid workers in that country's

three-year civil war. the associated press spoke with eight survivors who say the attack happened last month in the capital of juba following a battle between government troops and opposition forces. they say the soldiers went on a nearly four-hour rampage through the facility, so they shot and killed a local journalist and raped several women among other accusations. joining us from london is nbc news foreign government matt bradley. the united states embassy also being accused of not helping these people as well. >> that's right, frances. but yesterday the u.s. government laid blame for this atrocity on the united nations, and they said they don't know if the u.n.'s blue helmets are up to the task. as you mentioned, frances, it's being called one of the worst targeted attacks on aide workers in the three year civil war in south sudan and that's a young country that is no stranger to human rights atrocities. samantha powers, the american representative to the united nations said u.n. troops failed to stop south sudanese troops from raping, killing, and
