tampa had 10 inches of rain. it produced some epic rain. the new advisory that just came in from the hurricane center, we have tropical storm warnings. it will make landfall here, it's a large storm. there still will be strong winds all along the south carolina and tropical storm watches. the hurricane warnings south of cedar key, most likely tropical storm force winds. panama city same for you. the new forecast path the reasoning and rational for the hurricane center. the next 12 to 24 hours the landfall somewhere to the east of apalachicola. the people who live there, it will be significant storm surge because of the geography here. notice that tampa you're far away and you won't expect much of the way of any winds. it will be up towards tallahassee with downed trees, especially in power outages late

other big story this morning, florida getting ready for tropical storm hermin. water is starting to rise in some parts, bill? >> yeah. the storm is so large, it's not that intense but it's large. it's pushing a lot of water up towards the florida coastline and rain was a problem yesterday too. around the tampa/st. pete area. there was as much as 10 inches of rain yesterday, well ahead of the storm. these tropical systems, you know, tropical storm or hurricane doesn't matter as much as rainfall. they have produced epic amounts of rain. let's show you where it's currently located. 60 miles per hour winds. got a little stronger overnight and some of the rain bands were heading up towards florida. this is the updated path from the hurricane center at 5:00 a.m. the next path update will come at 11:00 a.m. they have it becoming a hurricane right before the coastline. right in the little notch here in the big bend. that would put the storm surge

from cedar key to down along the coast here that would be the highest storm surge. that's the biggest concern. this forecast is little better for panama city. you would be on the dry side of the storm, still strong wind gusts. the heaviest are to the east of the center. then we take the storm all day long friday. notice the winds really die off. we're not too concerned with power outages from savannah to charleston to myrtle beach. we'll watch heavy rain if there will be any impacts in this region, it will likely be from flash flooding and river flooding. then by the time we get to saturday morning, the storm does a little kind of squirrely action here. it's going to become what we call an extra tropical system. it will get absorbed on the front and may stall out, redevelop into a northeaster type storm and linger right here off the mid-atlantic coast possibly near long island, too. that right through the labor day weekend could bring us waves and also periods of rain.
