thank you, i am going to wrap up my hour for now. my colleague, kate knsnow, is picking this up. >> thank you very much, we are following fast news of the suspect here in boston. >> ahmad rahami is at the hospital. there is no indication that there is a cell operating in new york. again, no indication and they are not looking for anyone else at this time. 28-year-old ahmad rahami is captured after the tip from the bartender. this photo shows he's being taken into the ambulance. focuses of him was released late last niegght. police in new jersey detonated another device that was found in the train station not too far

from the suspect's home. >> donald trump and hillary clinton are reacting to this. we are expecting trump to speak in a moment as what thomas said. >> as soon as we see him, we'll bring you those remarks live. we'll track political reactions on so this different spot, i cannot name from all. lets start with our pete williams who have been following this story every step of the way. the headline of this hour, pete. >> the headline is sketched out, kate. two things, one they say they are not looking for anyone else but they want to know if others were involved. that question is to be answered. they want to know what radicalized ahmad rahami and they want to know if he had any help. they did emphasize they are not looking for anyone else. they said, i think quite conclusively that they have linked him to all three of the
12:02 pm
bombings over the weekend. the one in new jersey on saturday and two in new york on sunday. they did not mention the one in new jersey this morning, presumably, that's part of new jersey umbrella they had here. in term of rahami, he was born in afghanistan in 1988, he came to the u.s. we are told with his family here. in 1995, seeking a xylem and it was granted, we are told by government officials in 2011. he's now a u.s. citizen and he applied for citizen and granted a citizenship according to the fbi. the fbi got onto him quickly after the two bombings through a series of events that we are really tied to investigative work, finding a fingerprint of one of the explosive bombs, looking at what they believe to be pictures of him in

surveillance video then things began to move quickly. they searched the house where he was living and they question members of his family this morning and we are traveling near the bridge and none of them were detained and they decided to put his name and picture out about 7:30 this morning and three hours later, he was in a shoot out with police. you are seeing him here as he was loaded onto a gerny. prosecutors is holding him on the local charges involved with the shooting of police in new jersey while federal charges are worked up on the bombing charges. our u.s. attorney said a short time ago that they are not going to rush into the federal charges which they might normally because they got him on these local charges. that'll keep him off the streets for a while, while they build a federal case, kate. >> you mentioned they were at
12:04 pm
his residence where he was living in new jersey. i know his family is inner new jersey as well. did they live together and what did they find as far as we know? >> they certainly spent some time there. they searched the location of fan boy new jersey, that was the previous place he lived and they did not find anything there. they did find bomb making materials that were consistent with the kind of bombs that were placed in new jersey and new york over the week. >> okay. some family members you mentioned were taken or stopped for questioning on the big bridge here here in new york city. do we know anymore of what happened after that or did we just know they were stopped and questioned. >> we were told they were cooperative and let go. the authorities did say during the news conference that no one was detained as result of that question. >> pete williams on a fast

moving story today, pete, thank you very much. >> i want to go out to linden new jersey now where the dramatic scene played out this morning where police are still combing the area. nbc ayman is live right now. tell me about the scene behind you and how quickly this all unfolded. >> yeah, i am going to pick up on that point that pete williams was talking about. i will get out of the way to show you and what's taking place. that's the police there and multiple agencies including the fbi and members of nypd, they want to build their local case in the sense they want to bring charges locally here as a result of that shoot out. that shoot out began this morning around 10:30 a.m. where a bar owner several blocks from there was going to his bar and noticed that an individual

sleeping in the door way. he at that point called the police and as one police officer responded to the call, he approached the individual sleeping in the door way and immediately recognized that was in fact ahmad khan rahami. he told the individual to remove his hand slowly and get up. that person pulled out the gun and shot the police officer twice, once in the chest and abdomen and he took off running. the police officer that were shot put out a shot fire called and that activated many officers in the area and identifying the suspect two blocks away and engaged in a shoot out and were able to shooting multiphim mult times one in the leg and one in the arm. he was taken away. police say he was conscious and alert. no indication as to whether he

was cooperating with law enforcement at that time. an interesting point, they have been kind of going through this entire area tracing the exact bullet casing and they have been placing the blue cones across the street that we were standing on earlier that we could see from your vantage point. some interesting points that came out from the local captain was that no explosives were found on this individual and no detonator were found on him. we did see the union county bomb squad team out earlier in the day. they did not find anything in the area that could be potentially dangerous. we know police are probably looking at the bar where ahmad rahami was sleeping. there is no indication why he decided to choose that particular venue or whether or

area but also upstairs where the family lived. as you look around the area, i would bring you over here and you see the white vehicle over there, you can see in that way, there is a dog as well as a some agents are here. those are bomb sniffing dogs. gorge vasques is joining us live. he's been to the chicken place from the family. tell us, when you visited there, did you see any statements that would suggested anger towards the united states. >> no, you can see this community is business like oriented. this is completely unfortunate that we see this today. we are not expecting to see this happen. >> this 28-year-old, did you know him or see him? >> he was always behind the counter. if you walk in the store and he will gi ve it to you.
