also over the weekend donald trump backed away from his statement in the debate that he would absolutely accept the outcome of the election. we're going to have to see. we're going to see what happens. we're going to have to see. trump asked his supporters in pennsylvania to go out and look for fraud. >> you got to watch your polling booths because i hear too many stories about pennsylvania. certain areas. i hear too many bad stories. and we can't lose an election because of you know what i'm talking about. so go and vote and then go check out areas. >> hillary clinton and her campaign are working to minimize any backlash over a leaked recording of her discussing supporters of former rival bernie sanders. the hacked audio released late friday features clinton talking about those supporters during a february fundraiser in virginia. nbc news does not know the source of the reporting which was released by the free beacon but the clinton campaign said

the recording is authentic. >> some are new to politics completely. their children of the great recession. and they are living in their parents' basement. they feel that they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves and they don't see much of the future. i met with a group of young black millennials today and one of the young woman said, you know, none of us feel like we have a job that we should have gotten out of college. and we don't believe the job market is going to give us much of a chance. so that is a mindset that's really affecting their politics. and so if you're feeling that you're consigned to, you know, being a barista or some other job that doesn't pay a lot or done have much of a ladder of opportunity attached to it maybe

since 2007 is set to make direct landfall later today. hurricane matthew is over the central caribbean sea as a category 4 hurricane. it's packing sustained winds of 130 miles per hour. it has taken a turn north and now on a path to strike a devastating blow to jamaica, cuba, haiti and the dominican republic. that storm has already brought massive flooding to parts of jamaica and parts of haiti could get up to 40 inches of rain. forecasters say it's too early to tell if matthew will strike the mainland of the united states. but high surf expected. florida governor rick scott are urging residents to be prepared and calling this storm catastrophic. bill karins willin us shortly with more on that. >> in stunning result that's being compared to the shock of brexit voters in colombia rejected a historic peace deal. the deal which took four years to negotiate and was widely expected to passing a landslide

welcome back, everyone. investigators in the deadly train crash in hoboken, new jersey are facing new hurdles as they work to figure out what went wrong. the data recorder recovered from the locomotive that crashed last week is not working. they say the other record he along with its front camera remained on train because it's unreachable due to the damage to the hoboken platform. the train's engineer told them he does not remember the deadly crash. thomas gallagher told investigators while he had no memory of the accident he did remember the train was traveling at 10 miles per hour as it pulled into the station. nbc news has learned that months before the deadly crash that killed one woman and injured more than 100 the new jersey transit had been probed over safety concerns. federal regulators planned to make ng transit addressed safety

issues. a check of the weather outside with meteorologist bill karins. we've been talking about hurricane matthew turning into a monster storm. >> this storm at one point was a category 5. it lingered forever over the weekend out in the caribbean. making its way to the north. we have concern for the southeast coastline of the united states. so here's where it currently is. still see a well defined eye. it's dropped off a little bit in intensity. still a category 4. probably a 2 or 3 over the next couple of days. it will thread the needle during the day. here's jamaica right here and this is areas of southwestern portions of haiti. it will go right in between and head up to eastern cuba. actual landfall will not be in jamaica. most likely not in areas of haiti. now as far as the forecast goes and the forecast path what we're watching this is just up dated

data from the national hurricane center. one thing you notice they do take it as a category 2 or 3 hurricane over the entire life of the storm even through the bahama, even just off the southeast coast. we call at any time cone of uncertainty this area here. that's typically the forecast area. it can be as much as 200 to 250 miles and that's how they determine this cone and it does now include areas from extreme northeast florida, much of south carolina coastline all of the south carolina coastline and most of eastern north carolina now. overnight some of our models shifted a little bit closer towards the southeast coastline and that's why she shifted the cone. most models have it remaining just off the coast. no matter what come as we go through thursday and friday huge waves, beach erosion, minor coastal flooding problems. if we're going to get direct landfall still to be determined. the biggest problems today in the caribbean. all the flooding and heavy rain

lot of folks facing it. >> for areas of the world that don't want to deal with the tragedy like this, the harsh conditions of extreme flooding and the aftermath of the storm and that's what we're dealing with especially in haiti and areas of eastern cuba. biggest concern in the next 48 hours is a ton of rain up to three feet of rain going into haiti. this is a powerful storm. still a category 4. winds are compacted around this little circle and miss jamaica. don't expect a lot of destruction in jamaica. worse is some flooding problems. the extreme weather should be here in areas of haiti and then areas of cuba and then as we go into the extended forecast into areas of the bahamas. here's the forecast path. tuesday at 2:00 a.m., 130 mile-per-hour winds. from the north here landfall some time around tuesday around 2:00 p.m. then from there there's a lot of forecast questions. the models are in agreement taking this up to landfall in cuba and extended forecast, this is the new one just out from the
