12:00 pm
trump's next big event. i am thomas roberts. don't go anywhere. kate snow is next. >> you know what, they are both running late. we have a lot going on on a busy wednesday. donald trump on the move in florida this hour after delivering another attack on hillary clinton, bringing up more of the unverified staff e-mails released by wikileaks. we are hearing a growing number of trump supporters who won't accept anything less than victory and may have to rise up if clinton wins. >> we have our full team today. lets start off with msnbc's katy tur, she's out at this next trump's event. it is been a full day since donald trump declared his shackles are off from his noon
12:01 pm
event. what is an unshackled trump looked like? >> reporter: unstrakhackled trus going after hillary clinton and talking about mccain and paul ryan saying he would not be in a foxhole with them and kally an conway -- >> so would you think that paul ryan would call and say "good going" in front of just about the largest audience for a second night debate in the history of the country? so you know, you think saying great going, don, lets go and beat this crook. she's a crook and we got to stop
12:02 pm
it. no, he does not do that. there is a whole deal going on, you know, there is a whole deal going on and we are going to figure it out. i always figure things out. there is a whole sinister deal going on. >> reporter: and implying there is something that's going on basically saying that paul ryan is being disloyal to his candidacy. donald trump is driving a wedge in the republican party rallying his bases support not just against hillary clinton but against others who are not supporting him and there is a conservative blog urging voters in wisconsin to vote for his rival being a democratic over paul ryan, trying to get him out of office. that's very unlikely in wisconsin but it does illustrate the effect that donald trump is having on a certain contingent of the republican party. kate, his strategy seems to be
12:03 pm
to gird his vase as much as he can and hoping that his vase is bigger than hillary clinton. it is hard right now, utah, a deep red state so far is not looking good for donald trump. hillary clinton tied with him there and a third party rival, if he loses utah, it is hard to see which path he has going forward in order to win. >> can we ask you a couple of things today of newt gingrich complaining that trump should stop tweeting so much and he said those 3:00 a.m. tweets, he called it "baloney." is the inner circle on team trump shrinking? >> reporter: we keep on hearing that trump's circle has not been pleased with him.
12:04 pm
chris christie believed that donald trump apologized enough for that. those are three very close and not morm manormal advisers but of trump coming out and pushed against him. there is kalellyanne conway andt is cleunclear of the other supp that he's getting around him. i am reaching out if chris count christie is still leading. yes, i am told he is still is. katy tur, watching it all. thank you very much, appreciate it as always. as trump navigate through an event time of his campaign. a lot is going on with the democrats as well.
12:05 pm
lets bring in alex for usment another day of more e-mails. john podesta e-mails from wikileaks. nbc has not confirmed those e-mails. what's the response from the clinton's campaign. >> keep in mind that this is been a four day of e-mails. wikileaks have over 50,000. that could mean at this pace, they end up dribbling it out all the way to election day. most of the findings have been the kind of stuff that we political junkie loves to read about. of course, if you are the opponent campaign, you are going to love these e-mails. the clinton campaign is focusing on how these e-mails got made and got put in to the public. the u.s. intelligence and agencies awe accuccused of the government -- they have not said of the wikileaks are results of
12:06 pm
russians hacking. take a look at what john podesta had to say about this last night whose e-mails were hacked. >> russian interference in this election and their apparen apparent -- attempt to influence it on behalf of mr. trump. it should be a concern of all americans whether republicans or democrats. >> tough to hear there on the plane. what the campaign is saying that every time donald trump and republicans get up and praise wikileaks, they are doing the bidding of the kremlin, a remarkable campaign twist. they are essentially accusing trump of being a stooge of putin and using wikileaks e-mails to advance the russians' agenda. >> we just heard katy tur saying
12:07 pm
rudy juliani, and comments he made today getting a lot of attention and he talked about hillary clinton during 9/11. >> i heard she said that she was there. i was there that day but i don't remember seeing her there. that was like when she sai saisaid said -- it turned out to be a lie. >> she never said she was here on 9/11 zero, did she? >> she talked about her experience many, many time and written about it in her books. she waycros a senator at the ti and she flew back to new york the next day when she visited ground zero. i think we have a picture of that. it is possible that she maybe said something like that.
12:08 pm
more likely, we have juliani twisting the fact and trying to score. >> that's the two of them. thanks so much. we'll keep an eye out for hillary clinton. she's expected to speak later at this hour. >> i am joined my rick tyler, msnbc's political analyst. >> good to see you. i have not seen you since friday and everything that has happened since friday. i want to start with something we are seeing an example of something we are hearing more and more of. this is something that happened last night at a mike pence rally and what voters said. take a listen. >> for me personally, if hillary clinton gets in, i myself, i am ready for a revolution, we cannot have her in. >> yeah. >> but i am just saying it. i am like trump.
12:09 pm
>> there is a revolution coming on november the 8th. >> it reminded us of that moment back in 2008 when john mccain corrected a voter who said something negative about barack obama. >> there seems to be a growing number of voters talking to our cameras and reporters out there saying they are not accepting the legitimacy of the election if hillary clinton is elected. >> a little bit, it does seem to get worse and particularly worse when you have people on the campaign and really on both s e sides who say the election is under minded and on the other side donald trump is saying that it maybe rigged. but, look elections are run by the thousands of counties and town municipalities and it would really have to be just an utter conspiracy. you could potentially, you know, get involved in cuyahoga county
12:10 pm
and ohio or something like that. you got to trust to some extent that officials are on the ground and not worry about the validity of the election. >> are you worry that donald trump is sort of fthis idea tha there is going to be so much legitimacy that people may not accept the results of what the democratic process is. >> i do worry about it but if you look at what donald trump said everything because of how he lost the election because microphone did not work. and that the moderator did not treat him fairly and did not get equal time. there is always an excuse. there is always some reason why he lost. what we are witnessing right now is the legitimate split of the republican party. it is splitting before your eye. you have all the people peeling
12:11 pm
off to donald trump. then you have the party who thinks they have a legitimate path to victory here. you really have, hopefully, you st ill have the conservatives who believe in an under lining governing philosophy. that's what people have been upset about because, you kno know, -- now, people think they can win at all cost of an under lining fill lophilosophy. he does not support free trade, that's the republican principle and he does not support legitimate immigration. he supports a welfare program that's not a executive executive principle. so we are going to have a brawl after the election to figure out which way the election is going to go >> a brawl? >> or we are going to go back to
12:12 pm
the establishment that represents the status quo. >> where does the evangelicals fit into that? >> oh god. >> mike pence was calling a loop worm recession especially he was talking about the tape and locker room banter and the young people in that audience, it is a christian university, they did not like that much. >> at the same time. the chancellor of the university endorsed donald trump and so look, i question the evangelicals leaders who are still with donald trump. some quite frankly are unchristi unchristian and hatred towards hillary clinton. >> paul's first letter to timothy talks about how to pick leaders and he's talking to young timothy as a partner.
12:13 pm
donald trump fails 12 out of those 14 and you got move forward and you will pick hillary clinton and they predicate of everything you said and the fact that you can believe him and he's demonstrated over and over again that he does not always tell the truth. >> msnbc's political analyst, rick tyler. there you are. >> thank you very much. appreciate your time. any time. >> coming up, trump's supporters cannot accept the results if hillary clinton wins. >> we want to be americans. yes, people will probably rise up. jack be nimble, jack be qu, jack knocked over a candlestick onto the shag carpeting... ...and his pants ignited into flames, causing him to stop, drop and roll. luckily jack recently had geico help him

12:17 pm
think of this, department of justice sent information to the clinton campaign about investigation of e-mails so the campaign can be prepared to cover up her crime. did you hear about this? >> that was trump earlier making a big issues out of those leaked e-mails of john podesta. it has been a key line attack for donald trump. >> for more, i want to bring informer michigan governor, jennifer granholms. it is nice to see you. >> it is great to see you, kate. >> he's talking about one proported e-mail in particular
12:18 pm
from a clinton aid, ryan fallon, where he was in with people at the department justice where he seems to work who gives him head ups of the time line of release of her e-mails. was it appropriate to have that relationship, with the e-mail going on with the department of justice. >> if the department of justice wanted to have a conversation with ryan fallon or anybody else, you better believe it was appropriate for him to respond to that. the information that was in that e-mail was all public information. there was nothing in that e-mail that was inappropriate or even if it is a valid e-mail. i know in the lead of the segment, you said nbc has not validated and i know the conversation you had earlier with alex went over this. it is astonishing that the
12:19 pm
russians have hacked in this cycle to influence the outcome of the election. the stories that are being reported on are these very, you know, little e-mails that came out there, really are nothing to them. >> when the big story is that the russians are trying to influence this election and as mike moral, former head of the cia has said that it appears that donald trump becomes an unwitting agent of the russian federation. every time he says wikileaks, that's the vehicle for the release of these. every time he says wikileaks, this is coming from russia and in fact, news week just two days ago had an article from a reporter that said that his words are in one of those e-mails and they had been manipulated. nobody can validate these are accurate e-mails when we have
12:20 pm
one established case of e-mails that are untrue and manipulated. >> you now got thousands of e-mails out and it can continue to drip, drip, all the way to election day. does it feed in the fuel of fire for the republican narrative that clinton pop tifoperatives insiders are secretive and m man -- >> whether it is the russians that have invest veed in trump' business and paul manafort or whether it is donald trump himself inviting the russians to be able to hack in or him
12:21 pm
praising vladimir putin a better leader than barack obama. there is evidence after evidence that this man is a danger to our country with this close b bro-mance of putin. this story came out this morning, i don't know, it is just -- as a mom, i was just so infuriated by it. we hear this weekend that donald trump, there is a released tape that donald trump on howard stern talked about when he owned these pageants that he would go into the women's dressing room to inspect when they were changing. it was reported in "times magazine" that not omnivonly he go in the dressing room to inspect the women but he will
12:22 pm
also go to miss teens u.s. a when they were undressing. these girls are freaking out when a man walking in when they were naked. that to me is utterly creepy. that >> we have asked do you support a man who would go in a dressing room of teenage 15-year-olds beauty contestants as they are changing. >> as you say, we have asked the campaign and the trump organization and the trump campaign for comments and at least as of my e-mails a few minutes ago, we have not yet received any comments. i am guessing they may say it is
12:23 pm
unstan sh unsubstantiated. we'll see what they say. mike pence to be fair, hey, lets not use that language. good for him >> does that concern him? >> yes, of course, what donald trump is doing is setting himself up not just with a media empire who's been supporting him but to create a splinter party, an american nationalist party. he wants to take this whole thing way beyond the election and what he's taking on is this dark decisive and negative strand. you know hillary clinton is out there talking about a child care tax credit that she's going to double it for people to help lift them. he's out there talking about horrible things and putting up adds about hillary clinton and her health. he's just -- he's gone off the deep end and imploding. he's going to take that implosion after the election and
12:24 pm
blow it up further and i think the republicans and the democrats and all americans should be concerned. >> michigan governor, jennifer granholm. thank you very much for being with us. we have breaking news, off the coast of yemen has been fired on the next couple of days. what are sources telling you at this hour, hans, do we know how many officials were fired. >> they did not hit the u.s. mason, this is significant for a couple of reasons. the areas of these missiles were fired from are rubble control, this is in yemen, they are controlled by iranian rebels. that's very significant. >> the u.s. can be dragged in this proxy world in the u.s. in this case these are missiles that are meant to intercept.
12:25 pm
this is the second incident namely because the first one could potentially be a mistake. the u.s. acknowledge that sunday night attack and now it is happening again and it happens after u.s. officials here at the pentagon have vowed that some sort of response. they say any country and rebel group that attacks in u.s. navy does so at their own. we'll be finding out more here in the next couple of hours of what's the response going to be, whether it be a direct response from the u.s. mason which is a destroyer which has a lot of capabilities on those rebel control areas where these missiles originated from. >> hans nicoll. >> thank you. it is a new document from vice news called "terror taking an in-depth front look." thankfully, once again joining
12:26 pm
me is the host of the documentary, the founder of vice. i am so glad you can come back again. i apologize for yesterday. your first segment and the first look that you take is at yemen, relevant to what we were reporting. i want to play the clip again that we started yesterday. this is part of your hour, it is a conversation that you had with a man who lost two sons in yemen in separate drone attacks. >> you think when people get killed by drone fights, it creates so much anger that the young men will go join group like al-qaida.
12:27 pm
>> so he says america is reaping what it cultivated. talk to me about that man and those interviews that you conducted. you spent quite a bit of time in yemen, what did you learn? >> well, yemen right now is chaotic. it is bad anarchy. you have al-qaida who we were going there to meet and who we were invited by u.s. isis and you have the citizens of the missiles launched there. it is something that i learn before and learned again that drone strikes are from r radicalized and the reasons why people die. it is a father who lost his kids and he's putting the blame on america. what i saw of american policies having a huge impact on the
12:28 pm
evolution of these groups. >> you divide the series called terror as a whole. you will be looking at each group and different groups. why did you start with al-qaida and did you find a commonality? >> yes, al-qaida is the god father of these radical groups and the next step is al shabaab and the taliban and boko haran. and we end with isis. the commonalties they are all hijacking the religion to their own ends and what they are doing is not representative of islam. the commonality is they are angry at the west and america. there is a lot of pain and suffering that mow vaccinates them as well.
12:29 pm
>> let me play another clip, this is a conversation that you had with a young al-qaida fighter. >> as a fighter for al-qaida, what is your dream? policewoman . >> so we missed the beginning of the translation, our fighters are with americans, we have no enemies on earth other than the americans. as you sit there and listening to that.
12:30 pm
i was trying to read your face, you practice islam yourself, was it different to hear that? >> yes, it is. having to gone to pakistan my entire life and see a darkness at enters this country over the last ten years post 9/11 and what the taliban and ttp is doing in pakistan is contorting and twisting. it is bad for is slam as it is for r the rest of the world of what these groups are doing. and, in the case of this young fighter who joins al-qaida, i mean he's on a mission. it is terrifying. >> you are saying at the beginning, both sides seeing good verses evils and you ask the question of how do we stop the cycle and i get the impression that you don't have an answer. >> that's correct, i went out and thinking okay, this is an interesting series of documentary to make and half way through it i thought what the
12:31 pm
hell did i signed up for. there is no easy answer of this tre trend. the world has becoming biing bi and it is us verses them and black and white and good verses bad. this is why all this is happen ng t ing in this country right now. this next election is so important because our policies affect the whole world. >> it is a fascinating look. we'll put up a link to take a look at it. thank you very much for being with us. founder of vice media and executive producer of terror. >> happening right now, hillary clinton and donald trump arriving at the same time at their respected campaign events. hillary clinton is in pueblo, colorado, donald trump is in lakeland, plflorida. we are watching when they start those events. we'll bring them to you.
12:32 pm
12:35 pm
thousands of residents in north carolina are under order to evacuate their homes today. hurricane matthew continues to threaten the state. ma nbc's mariana is joining me now where there is a near by river that's supposed to reach record level soon. >> reporter: that's right, we are touring the area neurothar the new river. during hurricane flloyd 1999, which i i knknow you covered, j seeing the scope of the devastation here and authorities warning people that even though it is a sunny day, it is not raining here but the water can still be deadly. i have peter here from the red
12:36 pm
cross. what are your advise for folks at home to watch this. >> we are telling people please don't listen to local authorities. if they need us, get in touch with 800-red cross and be very safe. >> that's right, kate. i am trying to get off this truck here, the sergeant is going to help me just so i can let you know that all the streets here in many pockets of the community is completely flooded. it took us a long time to reach wayne county, an hour east of ra raleigh. that's what these communities are having to deal with. an average of two people drowned a day here just because of high high the water are. it is proving to be a disaster here in north carolina. those pictures just say it all. >> mariana, thank you very much, stay safe. >> moems ago, hillary clintment just landed in colorado. our own kristen welker, you just
12:37 pm
got on the plane, you are on the bus? >> reporter: indeed, we are on the campaign bus. >> there you go. tell me about the campaign person talking to reporters, right? >> reporter: right, on the plane ride over to pueblo colorado, i spoke to reporters and she hit on a number of different points and she addressed again of those recent hacks dumped by wikileaks. again, not authenticating on any of the e-mails baa doubling down the insertion that russians are behind the hack. >> donald trump is actually trying to --
12:38 pm
[ inaudible [ inaudible ] secretary clinton today according to judges -- she intends to be president for all peop people, and the fact that is hispanics registration is up in nevada and more democrats are registered than republicans in colorado. the polls have been a little bit all over the place in colorado. right now, secretary clinton does have a double digit lead. so she has a convincing win here and we are told that part of her strategy is down ballot races, trying to capitalize all the chaos within the republican party to hit them for not denouncing trump. those who have not yet and she will praise the ones who have. that's what we are expecting to hear here. those wikileaks documents continue to loom over this campaign with just a few weeks
12:39 pm
left to go until election day. >> kristen welker on a moving bus signaling in and out but we got it. mike pence just wrapped up a speech at a town hall in salem, virginia. remarks made yesterday that turned some heads. >> i cannot trust obama. >> that's not the tape we were talking about. mike pence at an event where voters stood up and said she was so worried about the results where if hillary clinton was elected, we might need a revolution and pence jumped in, no, we don't use that kind of language. mike pence making an effort to discourage her of any negative actions but instead, just go out and vote. kelly o'donell following mike pence in lynchburg, vitamrginia.
12:40 pm
we were showing john mccain when john mccain jumped in when someone criticized barack obama. >> reporter: i was covering that back in 2008. you find a candidate who has someone taking the time to come out to see them presumably a supporter and you have this moment where the candidates feel that the comment is just not something that could be left to sta stand. john mccain in 2008 lost the election but got a lot of praise where telling a woman referring president obama as distrust full. mccain going on saying he was a decent man and not someone anyone should fear. mike pence shuts down the suggestion of revolution and was
12:41 pm
not made clear of what that meant if that was a colorful term or someone thought there is some kind of action taking should hillary clinton wins. out in virginia today making an unplanned stop for a little one. mike pence and carol were getting hot dogs at a well known -- hot dog provider here where people always go and stop. he encountered a couple of voters one that said to him, tell your running mate to focus and comments about donald trump and saying that he's not the right choice and he should not be elected. that's the kind of thing that mike pence is having to deal with on the campaign trail, having to answer for and interpret and explain and some of what donald trump says and does. at the same time trying to lay out what he believes they can do if elected on a positive side.
12:42 pm
it is a challenging test for mike pence in virginia and going to north carolina before heading back to indianapolis to spend the night tonight. it is been an event day here at liberty university earlier today with a student body that's largely christian, he was able to make a connection about faith and explaining of the vulgar comments from donald trump could be treated as a moment for people to exercise forgiveness if they so choose and telling the students not to flinch in the face of political pressure if they believe the direction of the country would be better served by a trump/pence administration than hillary clinton. from talking to students there were a number of them troubled by trump's standards. at the same time not supporters of hillary clinton. again, just a small samples of students that we talked to but giving you a sense of how this year's complicated running mates
12:43 pm
and people wrestling with the choices there are. >> thank you very much, kelly o'done o'donell. donald trump is just warming up and starting to say thank you. we'll go to that as soon as in news is made there point early voting is kicked off in three states, ohio, arizona, and indiana. polls are opened at 8:00 p.m. local time. a state in 2012 where one-third of voters cast their ballots before election day. >> hillary clinton is hoping to duplicate. nbc's chris jansing is in cleveland where she's catching up to early voters as they step in the polls. what are you hearing? >> reporter: i have to tell you, they are open of who they are voting for. i have been talking to officials here and frankly, this was not what they expected.
12:44 pm
they did not expect this steady amount of people coming out all day. not of just who are voting but have been lining up. it has not stopped all day here, it began this morning and there was a marching band that came down and there were whole groups of people across the street with hillary clinton's signs. it is really interesting when you think of how unusual this campaign has been. one thing seems to hold true that this round game push by hillary clinton does seem to be paying off. she's been working with all of this. tell me a little bit about what you folks have been doing to push because we heard that the number of early ballots requested are down and yet, at least looking here, there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm. >> absolutely. >> as you know the urban league is non partisan, we are strongly
12:45 pm
pushing to get out to vote. we know it is important especially in the african-american community that we get our people out to vote. not only to go out to vote but to vote down the ballot because all the race is important. >> 400 precincts under performing in ohio. 200 of them in cuyahoga county. how have uconn vinyou convincin to come out to vote who have not. >> on a couple of weeks we have a national get out to vote bus tour. our president there, al sharpton, he's going to be there and local leaders are going to be going to churches and colleges and we'll be talking to folks that have not decided to vote or who have talked about actually sitting out and we are trying to convince those folks
12:46 pm
that sitting out is not the right thing to do. > > martha, thank you very much. >> chrissi jansing in ohio. >> thank you. coming up next, west focus on the senate race in new hampshire. customers get up and running, anywhere in the planet. wherever there's a phone, you've got a bank, and we could never do that before. the cloud gave us a single platform to reach across our entire organization. it hps us communicate better. we use the microsoft cloud's advanced analytics tools to track down cybercriminals. this cloud helps transform business. this is the microst cloud. i just saved thousands on in less than a minute, i found out how much home i can afford. i like how you shop for loans the same way you shop for flights online. i didn't realize that lendingtree you can save money

donald trump tweeted that sha shackles are off and he can fight for america the way he wants to. >> you are saying the shackles are off, now, i can do what i really want. what have you do that you have not done. are you going to be more out spoken? >> i don't think i am out spoken. no, i think i am very nice. >> a lot of people are wondering who that unshackled donald trump will mean for the candidate down
12:50 pm
the ballot. for more i would like to bring in beth fouy, it is nice to see you. >> trump is losing ground in important battle ground states where we see republican senators vulnerable affected boy the trump effect. it could be a big problem. they were hanging on for dear life anyway. it needs to be a flip of four. if hillary clinton were to win and the fifth seat would be a tie breaker from her vice presidential candidate.
12:51 pm
ym battling the democrat in arizona. trump slammed mccain yesterday saying he begged for the support during the primary. they dropped me over locker room remarks. except for the trump effect. arizona is making its way. and people don't like donald trump. that could affect john mccain. he has been the most effective senator of any republican by our friend donald trump between the comments of him not being a war hero and he went through his own primary against the more conservative republican and facing off against the democrats and criticizing mccain for his long support for trump. mccain announced he was not going to vote for trump and he
12:52 pm
was going to write in his friend, lindsay graham. >> that would be a brexit result. we have a new poll out that shows ron johnson down and final 48. johnson is down two points. >> that's a lot closer than it has been. a lot of people just assume that johnson was gone. fine gold has been polling well by a margin of five points to low double-digits. that sign is that perhaps a little more competitive and they will have to work hard if they want to get him back into the seat. >> marco rubio down in florida. the latest poll has him up over democrat patrick murphy by just two points and that was taken before the release of the audio tape. >> rubio with florida being the biggest swing state, we know they didn't want to represent
12:53 pm
it. he decided to do it at the last empty. it seems ob tunistic and they will run for president again. he is starting a little bit on a bad note. he is running against a democrat. with inflation of his resume. it looked for a while. all that turbulence around trump is affecting rubio. >> you don't see rubio showing up, do you? >> in new hampshire with a close race as well. she is one that has been going around about trump. first she said she would vote for him and not endorse him and she said she wouldn't vote for him, but days before in a debate with the opponent, she was pressed on whether she thought trump was a role model and said she did and the next day said i
12:54 pm
didn't mean it and i don't like hillary clinton either. she has twisted it around like a pretzel. that is about as close to call as the presidential battle ground. probably the way it will go for trump might decide the race as well. >> time for one more? yeah, let's do one more. pennsylvania. pat toomey and our poll up four points. that was the very, very tight race. the incumbent has kept his distance from trump and saying i won't unendorse him, but i won't endorse him. publicly keeping his distance that. of course is one of the big battle grounds at the presidential level as well. trump's fortune likely to affect the out come in the senate race as well. >> we'll be right back.
