evidence. joe biden is attacking the treatment of women, but not staring bill clinton either. >> i can make the excuses. i wouldn't take any excuses from him. >> that interview with the vice president airing on "meet the press" on sunday. we will bring you more this hour. we begin with our top story, this a surreal theme playing out in the past hour. you had donald trump giving a speech in greensboro, north carolina, hitting back at the women who stepped forward to accuse him of sexual assault. he was going hard after media outlets for supporting the story and as donald trump was delivering that speech, making the remarks, at the exact same time, a new accuser was a contestant on season five of the apprentice at the same time, she was in los angeles holding a press conference to describe

what he said was an unwelcome encounter with donald trump in 2007. >> i waited for about 15 minutes until mr. trump emerged. he had his shoes on. i stood up and he came to me and started kissing me, open mouth, as he was pulling me towards him. i walked away and i sat down in a chair. he was on a love seat across from me and i made an attempt at conversation. he asked me to sit next to him. i complied. he then grabbed my shoulders and began kissing me aggressively and police placed his hand on my breast. i pulled back and walked to another part of the room. he then walked up and grabbed my hand and walked me into the bedroom. i walked out. he then turned me around and said "let's lay down and watch some telly telly.

he put me in an embrace and i tried to push him away. i pushed his chest and i said come on, man, get real. he repeated my words back to me. get real. as he began tlufing his genitals. he tried to kiss me again and i said you are tripping right now. attempting to make it clear i was not interested. >> nbc reached out for comment on this specific story. we will update you when we have a response from him. trump at the campaign event denied all coulds for this so far and that includes another claim that was reported by "the washington post." this comes from a woman named kristin anderson who designered her encounter that took place more than 20 years ago. >> in the early 90s, i was in new york city. i was at a club with my friends. i am very clear on this. this is the vivid part for me.

so the person on my right who unbenounced to me at that time was donald trump puts their hands up my skirt. >> that accusation made to the "washington post" this morning. she is a spokesperson for the trump campaign and told "the washington post" "mr. trump strongly denies the phony allegation by someone looking to get free publicity. it is totally ridiculous. this is around a dozen allegations of unwanted sexual advances against trump that surfaced in the last few days, many of them. that audio tape leaked a week ago today. this is where donald trump will be later on this evening. he spoke in greensboro, north carolina. we had that scene when he showed people a clip of it. donald trump was speaking in greensboro as a new accuser

steps forward. in this speech he was going after the other accusers who came forward. very hard, wasn't it? >> it seemed like he was going after them one by one trying to discredit them by saying believe me, she would not be my first choice. that would not be my first choice, directly talking about the girl who he accused him of groping her. and then talking about a experience he believes that is going on behind the scenes. part of the media. the clinton campaign and now he is including a mexican billionaire in that saying that a mexican millionaire who is a partial minority shareholder of the "new york times" may be influencing that in negative coverage. take a listen. >> these are lies pushed by the

clinton tweeted that every sexual accuser needs to be believed. she was tweeting back and quoting the word every. so far only folks, the mail surrogates for the most part and ben carson getting into a fight on "morning joe" saying the lies are not what's at issue. that this country is on a train headed for a cliff. >> donald trump expected there a few hours from now. donald trump said evidence would exonerate him and hours ago, his running mate, mike pence, made this statement. >> there will be more evidence that shows and calls into

question these latest allegations. >> we have been waiting to see if there would be any new evidence propertied by the trump campaign. we have not heard any of that from the trump campaign. no word from the trump campaign. what can you tell us? >> there was no comment from governor pence. he has not spoken about this or at the rally appearance that he made and knowing mike pence and having covered him overtime, prior to going on the high profile platform like the "today" show, he would check for guidance about what he would say about such a question. he would not have just tried to come up with that on his.

that was saying there was additional evidence and so far nothing has been produced. he talks about it happening within hours and more than eight hours has passed now. this was governor pence in another difficult situation. even though he talked about his discomfort with the original audio recordings that were the first wave of this one week ago, he is not aggressive. he said the subsequent issues continue to talk about the importance of focusing on the campaign and the choices between two different visions for the country. now here's another instance where he has in effect suspended donald trump by saying there would be evidence to refute the latest allegations and if nothing is produced, mike pence is on the hook for that claim. i reached out to the tam pain and have not heard back to them.

and they were unclear as to what they would be addressing. the comments by the women who went to the "new york times" or the attorney who is representing others, gloria allred. the promises made by governor pence, we still have time for him to deliver on that, but so far nothing coming through on the pence side. >> kelly o'donnell coming through. donald trump's approach is he is hitting back hard. here's the swipe at natasha, the reporter from "people" magazine who said trump forcibly kissed her while she was writing a story on his marriage. >> here's my question about the dishonest writer from "people" magazine. why didn't she write what she said happened before she wrote the story, why didn't she put it

about issues that mean something to the personal lives of the voters. what he has been talking about today in essence is being put in the position of being talked about today are sort of his personal incidents which is not the way you win an election 26 days out. >> obviously in a sense he has no choice but to address the accusatio accusations. they are serious accusations and they have been coming out over the past few days and in terms of how he chooses to address them, going after the accusers and the way he is, what do you think politically is the effect of that? >> i think if there is evidence to refute the charges, that is the best way to go about it as opposed to making subjective pronouncemen pronouncements. in a sense we are seeing the fact that it's a pretty bare bones campaign and they are being deluged with the charges

that are serious that he does have to address. i suspect this is a moment when the short staffing is catching up a bit. >> we are heading all sorts of stories about nervous republican leaders in washington. whether it's nervous republican donors or paul ryan or the house speaker or the chair of the rnc who seemed unsure of how to deal with this. there is the dilemma that donald trump is the republican nominee and the fate of so many candidates and innocent do you want to be out there defending him on this and defending him on anything else that might emerge? how does a guy like paul ryan, how should he handle it? >> he is handling it the way he should. going out and giving a very serious well thought out policy address about core republican principals. there are conservative principals that the republican

party stood behind that he has been working on for his entire adult career. to articulate that message at this point is really, really important. not only for the republican party as a brand, but also for all the individual candidates, especially the house candidates who paul ryan wants to see back in the majority. >> msnbc analyst and lawyer. >> i am over here at the big board. it has been one of the most volatile weeks in what has probably been the most volatile and unpredictable presidential campaign any of us has ever seen. we thought we would reset with are how the road to 270 looks right now. new data has come in. let me take you from two standpoints. we will start from trump's standpoint here. if you use this as the starting point, the good news for trump if you are looking for good news

for donald trump and you said it's been a bad week, what are the bright spots? there are a bunch of must win states where the good news is the bottom didn't fallout this week. there is not evidence of that yet. he absolutely must win north carolina. he is behind in north carolina. the new poll puts him down by four points, but you are saying it's only four points. it's striking distance. take a look at ohio. these are must win states for donald trump. the good news is the poll after the debate. he is ahead by a point. there are good signs in the must win states. he has work to do, but the problem is this. there are also signs this week that the red wall, the romney states that are traditionally reliably republican may be soch

i softening. hillary clinton is leading in arizona by a point. we talked a little bit about it. utah. deep red state of utah. it has been more than 50 years since utah went for a democratic candidate. he is down to 34% in utah. the home state of mike pence in indiana, a new poll shows his lead at only four points. striking distance for hillary clinton. you look at the accusations that continue to come out, this poll is not fully taking into effect what that might have. that lead could shrink. he may have to worry about indiana and u caw and maybe even georgia. that number could get lower. the path to 270, the must win states, the good news is those states are not out of reach. the bad news is that republican

base he is counting on may be softening in a very big way. that's a look at the end of the week at the path to 270. president obama is back on the campaign trail today and making the case for hillary clinton and going after the republican party. donald trump is a symptom of a major problem in that party. >> i'm glad that some of them said this is really bad. i guess we need to walk away. if you are doing it just for political expedience because you are looking at poll numbers saying that might get me in trouble, that's not enough. if you are about family values, you have to be about values all the way through. >> the argument that president obama and his wife, michelle, have been making in a way that maybe hillary and bill clinton can't. joe biden is speaking out against trump and part of that interview that will be on "meet the press" this sunday. >> this guy as i said has

the 2500 people here today are going to vote for hillary clinton. why does it matter that he comes here and goes where he is going to go over the next couple of weeks? >> how many new volunteers are coming out? about 8,000 people saw her. if you get over 2,000 volunteers, all of that in north carolina. that will make it. >> and so i checked in with the campaign and they said they have hundreds of new volunteers lined up. and they are very different from the approach the trump team takes when you have a race like

ohio which is a complete dead heat. they believe the phone calls and the door knocks will get people to the polls. >> talking about president obama and first lady michelle obama going hard after donald trump made comments about women. >> you said you are the party of family values. you weren't appalled earlier when he was saying degrading things about women? when he was judging them based on a score of are they a two or a ten? >> to dismiss this as locker room talk is an insult to decent men everywhere. the men that you and i know don't treat women this way. they are loving fathers who are sickened by the thought of their daughters being exposed to this

language about women. >> president obama and michelle obama are more vocal and outspoken about the allegations and on the videotape that surfaced perhaps than hillary or bill clinton. could that have anything to do with the allegations levelled against bill clinton. on "meet the press," they suggested bill clinton did make mistakes in his past. >> i can't make any excuses for bill clinton's conduct. i wouldn't attempt to make excuses. but he paid the price for it. he was impeached. >> joining us now is the fellow at the brookings institute. thanks for taking a few minutes. i do wonder michelle obama's speech is a very well receive and well reviewed speech. president obama for that matter on this same topic. is there an issue where the obamas are a better messenger on

this issue of going after donald trump than the clintons because of bill clinton's history? >> i think there is truth to that. it is always better when someone else says how great you are than if you say it yourself. it's better when other politicians attack your opponent than if you do it yourself. they have got bill clinton back out there now and they have been wise to hold him back. michelle obama and president obama can do extra things for clinton. as chris pointed out, they can create a whole new wave of volunteers and energize voter who is will not vote for trump, but particularly

african-american and younger voters. they are all the way down the ticket and the house is still very difficult. i think we see a weakness there and the president had to make a case that the republicans stuck with trump way too long and where were they earlier in this campaign? i think you will see this from now until november 8th. >> the 1990s when a lot of this surfaced, they understood more that these were private consensual affairs. there were allegations that go beyond that. in the climate of 2016 where our

understanding of the issues has changed a little bit. there may be a reexamination about bill clinton's behavior concurrent with everything else happening in the campaign. i wonder if there is more moral weight to the denunciations in terms of accusations. you never heard anything along those lines. >> joe biden said it in the "meet the press" interview. given the history, president clinton, he needs to be the guy off message with michelle obama and barack obama are better carriers of that. there is another message too. donald trump is the guy running for president and not hillary clinton. the push attack is a defense shot he is trying to get at bill through hillary and b, he is

saying contradictory things. he is saying why are people drudging up old accusations while of course he is going back to the 90s. going there on bill clinton is not going to help you very much. i don't see this as helping trump. i think most republican operatives don't see it either. >> from "the washington post," from vancouver. up there. thanks for taking a few minutes. >> nice to visit canadian friends to talk about our election. >> i bet. appreciate that. coming up, i have heard about the gender gap and we are going to look at the women who are still standing by donald trump. >> right now i feel as though these allegations are distraction strategies from the more important issues.

that. clearly helping hillary clinton, but not like donald trump has zero support. 25 to 30% is a lot of women who dismiss the comments made. they are still with him. that is a significant number of women who were attending a rally. she explains why she is. whatever was said was unfortunate and he apologized for it. but it pales in comparison to some of the thing that is the clintons have done. >> "washington post" respondent mary gordon has been writing about this and joins me now from washington. thanks for taking a few minutes and i appreciate that. we tend to treat it as the tape came out in 2005, it's disaster

for donald trump with women voters and that's true in a lot of cases, but it's not true in all cases. what are the women who support trump telling you? >> i think the most interesting thing is that none of these women and there are a lot of them, four out of 10 are still for trump. they are not so much that they love or even like donald trump, it's that they cannot stand hillary clinton. that was one of the biggest things i found and i spent hours in the women for trump rallies. the other thing is that some of them are really just saying i don't like either personal so i'm going to look at the issues and i am going to vote for donald trump because he is going to lower taxes. they are looking at both of them and saying i don't like his temperament, but i care about

taxes and i care about the government so i'm going to vote for him. >> for might be surprising to people that they don't like hillary clinton, but would elevate any of the objections they have to hillary clinton over the blunt things and is accused of doing to women. we had that discussion. what is the thought process and how they address that? >> at the beginning of the week, huh that clip. this is just locker room talk and what the clintons have done is action. that's harder to say that because women are coming forward. these are congressional wives of republicans and congress men getting on the bus and they have big buses that say women for trump and they are in important swing states and setting up loudspeakers saying women are going to decide this race. vote for them. when i went to them where it's

not just women. it's words. many are convinced it's made up and not from true. it's the liberal media doing it. so far there is this rock solid support. they found another person on the website now that said amazing things about what donald trump did with his conduct. >> you mentioned that they are against hillary clinton. as a common thread, is that the source of that when they talk to you? >> one woman was a county executive and said i feel like i have known clinton my whole life. i said why is that a bad thing. she said i don't feel like she

i'm not going to defend donald

trump and what he said. i disagree, but when i look at our choice, it's not close for me. i'm going to support my nominee. i'm supporting donald trump. >> richard burr is from north carolina. that was a debate in north carolina. being asked something that republicans did across the country in debate baits over the next few weeks. do you stand by donald trump and what will picket. this is when you go in and vote and they should vote for one party's candidate and the other party's candidate for the senate. this used to happen a lot. you go back 40 plus years and more than a quarter of all voters would split the ticket.

it has been cut dramatically. in 2012, 10% of all voters were voting for one party for president and the other in the senate. ticket splitting with a key thing for republicans. as they worry about donald trump's performance in the presidential election, they are trying to hold on to the senate. these are republican incoupkucu. the fore for republicans is donald trump, does he lose new hampshire and pennsylvania and north carolina by a significant margin? if that starts happening, does it endanger those republican senate candidates. there is not that much ticket splitting. let me show you what i mean more closely. pennsylvania on average, hillary clinton is leading by nearly nine points now over donald trump. they have a hot senate race.

mcginty the democrat and toomey the republican incumbent. does clinton win by or ten points or double-digits? is that too much to overcome in the senate. toomey is doing better, but he can only survive too much. hillary clinton in new hampshire leading by six points. the republican incumbent is ahead by two, but again, if this thing gets out of control in the presidential race, is it too much of a mountain for her to climb. that would be a devastating loss. you see it in wisconsin. hillary clinton leading close to seven points. rus fine gold is trying to make a come back. he is leading by only three. johnson is the republican overperforming versus donald trump. republicans have to worry now about that tie from the top of the addict. if donald trump does not recover from what's happened to him for the past week and things get worse for donald trump over the

next few weeks, i can get these words out. think of that number of only 10% split their tickets and that could cost the republicans the senate. that's the most important number of the day. the political panel will join me. paul ryan and donald trump. the new poll from deep red states that maybe don't look so red this year. here's hillary clinton on the ellen degeneres show today talking about the latest headlines surrounding her opponent. >> obviously there is a lot that is coming out which is distressing on many levels, but i don't want anybody to think this election is over because it has been so unpredictable up until now. i am taking anything for granted and we center to work hard for the next 3 1/2 weeks. who knows what can happen.

to separate himself. paul ryan, i don't know that he is still the same, but he has to turn around and that's richard burr from north carolincarolina. the republican candidate in a swing and now renouncing donald trump and will that get credit from the swing voters. >> we have proof the democrats don't receive any credit and against member who is tried to make that break publicly. we have a and threatening to sue because they are running as the mailers of images with him with trump. i think these numbers are already kind of in terms of the attacks are going to come back

at the same time. listen how close it is, they have got to try to create that space. in terms of what we are seeing at the national level with the hesitancy of the gop voters and particularly the swing state women. we don't know what's going to happen there in terms of the splitting of the ticket effect. that may be totally irvrelevant if people stay home. >> we will talk about the gender gap. and are they seeing an opportunity with male voters. what are we hearing here. >> the aftermath of the videotape and i have spoken with joel what approaches & the

educated white women. the male gop voters in their ads. they said i just can't vote for trump. i can't look my daughter in the eye and vote for trump. this will appeal to those male voters and what they me it they don't think they have a huge opportunity to move these people all the way across the line to vote for hillary clinton, but it may not matter to just get them to go into the ballot box and go for the third party candidate. i know you have been playing the polls and that exemplifies
