just past 1:00 p.m. in the east, 10:00 a.m. out west. here is what's happening. with three days until the final debate and a little over three weeks until election day, new polls are giving us a sense of the state of the presidential election. hillary clinton has widened her lead among women in battleground states. the new cbs/yougov poll shows him with an inedge. the nbc/wall street journal poll shows her with an 11-point lead. the abc news/washington post poll shows a more narrow lead, though still leading. the lead is within the margin of error. all of the polls were taken this week amid controversy for both candidates. wikileaks releasing e-mails from the clinton campaign. and new allegations of sexual misconduct against trump. two of trump's supporters are weighing in today on his handling of them. >> i don't defend him when he wanders off. i told him over and over,

presidents have to be disciplined. in that sense, hillary is probably better trained to be president except she's the most corrupt person to get the nomination of a presidential party. >> i don't believe any of them? >> they all fit a pattern. i find they come 27 days before an election. i know how the clintons conduct an election. they conducted an election about as dirty as it gets. i find it impossible that people remember 30 years ago and 20 years ago and eight -- come forward now right at the very end to push these things. i find these hard to believe. does he talk like a guy sometimes when you are hanging around and you tell jokes and stuff like that? sure. does he act like a gentleman? absolutely. >> here is what vice-president joe biden told chuck todd on "meet the press" this morning about these allegations. >> in his own words -- i don't have to go to the accusers. when a man says -- what he said

hillary clinton should take drug tests. suggesting by that indirectly that hillary clinton may have taken drugs before the last debate. can you tell me what he is talking about and how this should be interpreted? >> i think they should both take drug tests. have i have no idea. this is a very interest, unusual tact to take. trump has brought up hillary clinton's health in recent -- in the past few weeks. it's something that plays to his base. again, really rallies up his -- fires up his supporters. i'm not sure where that comes from. i don't think a lot of congressional republicans on the house or senate side will defend it. >> okay. you think they both should take drug tests just to get it out of the way? you were joking, right? >> i was joking. >> just checking. rosie, trump pushing this claim that the media is trying to rig the election. he has been saying that over and over again. who is he is talking to? is it just his base? i'm curious what he expects to
10:11 am
gain. independents, will they vote in his favor? >> what he is trying to do is basically claim that if he loses the election, it was part of some grand conspiracy against him rather than him actually just losing the election. i will note that although his surrogates keep saying that this rigged talk is about the media, trump himself tweet aed a few minutes ago he expects it will be rigged at polling places as well. >> okay. i want to talk about some of the polls and look at it now with a broad base here, molly. your takeaways, the numbers we are getting in today. >> the thing is, it's interesting. i talked to several gop strategists recently since the tapes came out. they said, you know, we would have expected -- this is the general feeling. they would have expected the polls would have changed more dramatically than they have. it goes to show there's so many people in the country that are
10:12 am
opposed to hillary clinton and vice versa with hillary clinton maintaining her lead even though all these wikileaks documents come out, one strategist barry bennett who was ben carson's former campaign chairman and short time trump adviser told me, he said, you know, the untold story of this election is that half of the country thinks hillary clinton is a liar. the other half think donald trump is a lout. since this election is going to be a change election, do a majority of the country want to vote for donald trump? that's why we're not seeing as much movement in the polls. >> what about from your perspective, rosie? >> there's -- we live in a polarized country. no matter what happens, i think with trump and obviously we have seen a string of very damaging revelations for his campaign, there's going to be a certain percentage of people who will vote for him no matter what. that will probably be the case for the rest of the election.
10:13 am
the question is whether or not he can reach out beyond his base of support to attract undecideds or people who might not be part of the base. he is not making much of an effort in that direction. >> what about the campaign events tomorrow and tuesday that donald trump has, molly? is he doing anything debate prep? >> well, you know, i haven't heard that he is doing a lot of debate prep. personally, in my opinion, i don't know if he wants to go that route given the last time that he was on a debate stage with chris wallace. chris pressed him on his business dealings back in the mid '90s and the early to mid '90s and the bankruptcies he filed. it's unclear. i think that one thing that we have seen with trump this election is that he really feeds off the energy in the crowds. so if that works for him, great. it's unclear what he is doing behind the scenes.
10:14 am
>> is there any sense that we're going to get key surrogates like rudy giuliani come to his defense against the allegations of sexual misconduct? what do you think, rosie? >> we're seeing that. i was watching the sunday shows this morning, rudy giuliani was on several of them basically saying that these are just allegations. so his surrogates are coming to his defense when it cops to these sexual assault allegations. that's something that's happening. >> okay. thank you so much. a well respected election predicting website says my next guest has a path to the presidency. how could evan mcmullin become president? i will talk to him next.

the notion that all men and women are created equal, and we have inalienable right s s to t pursuit of happiness. i am the only candidate certainly standing for those things, and donald trump is not. >> so you are saying that donald trump is not a true republican? >> well, he is a republican and the republican nominee, which is a sad thing for republicans, pu he is not a conservative. i am the only conservative in the race, and i was the chief policy director most recently before launching the campaign, and i have only voted for republicans my entire life. but something has to change when you have the republican party nominating someone who treats women the wau he does and people of different races and religions, and people with disabilities, and somebody who aligns himself with dictators oversea overseas, and this is not a person who should be the republican nominee or even a major candidate or certainly not the president of the united states, and then also, we have hillary clinton who is deeply

corrupt. sadly, i think that we are having in the country, a leadership crisis. that is why i got into the race to offer the american people a better choice. >> well, you are not going to be on the ballot in all 50 states and people want to vote for you, and do you have to allow on the write-in candidacy? >> well, i would say that we will be on the ballot or a write-in candidacy in about 43 to 45 states by election, and that is u enough for our strategy, and what we are trying to do is to deny hillary clinton and donald trump a majority in the electoral college -- >> and evan, let me read that, because i want the people the to understand how you could get to the presidency. this is from the article in 538 and your path consists according to them and let me know if you agree with this, you would have to win utah and that state has six electoral votes and then you would dead lock the electoral college and then winning would come in the house that they would vote you in.

so is that your strategy? do you think it will happen in any scenario? >> well, it can, as you described and that is laid out in the constitution. obviously, it is very, very d difficult. i have been saying that since day one and i knew it would be difficult even before getting into the race, but the point is that if we didn't get in, we wouldn't have the chance, and so we are getting in to try to give the american people something to vote for and be proud of, and we are standing for what is good and right and true, and we are going to have a chance to do what you described, but also doing someelse, we are building a new conservative movement in the country. the conservative movement is being destroyed by donald trump or at least the republican party is and what we are saying -- yes, go ahead. >> do you think that you may help hillary clinton get elected by siphoning off votes from donald trump. >> first, i am a candidate as e legitimately as any of the other candidates in the race. i have a constitutional right to run and that is what i am doing. donald trump has a right to do that and he is doing it as well. but aimi am a candidate like ane

else. if anybody is a spoiler, it is donald trump, he is a spoiler for republican party and the country, and the reality is that he is performing so terribly against hillary clinton he won't win this race, and he is being dominated by hillary clinton the most corrupt member of a modern par party, and he won't win whether i'm in the race or not, and that is the reality. >> why are you seeing the strong report in utah, specifically, utah. >> well, it is not just utah, but the mountain west in general and the reason why is that people in utah rejected both hillary clinton and donald trump in the primaries by large margins and they know that neither e over the two people are good leaders and we need t better leaders in the country, and honest and wise leaders to put the american people first, and they don't see it in hillary clinton or donald trump and that is why they are looking for something else. >> evan mcmullen and we wish you luck and thank you for your time
