democratic party stands for something. you have 52% saying that party just stands against president donald trump. to be fair, republicans probably had sim lab numbers during the entire last administration as well. that said, how have the democrats ended up here? they have somehow mishandled the last six months. have they done that since the president took office? >> i don't think that we -- the democrats have exactly mishandled the last six months. i think it's really hard to really drive a positive message in this current environment when donald trump is continuously blowing up the news cycle with his tweets, with more breaking news on the russia situation. we could go on and go on on this. but, look, i will say. this i do think that democrats have to take this resistance and turn it into a positive message at some point. right now we've got a very united resistance that you saw this in the health care vote on the house, you're seeing it again with the health care vote in the senate. every single democrat opposed obamacare repeal in both chambers. eventually, we have to get

throughout and be able to get our positive message out there about what democrats will do to improve the lives of americans and i think you'll see that going forward as our party continues to rebuild and we get closer to 2018 mid terms. >> so robert, the abc polls shows some waning support for the republican health care plan. in this case, 24% versus 50% who say they like the aca. why is the gop continuing to fight for it? >> because their base is screaming for this. it's because for the last eight years the republican party as you know, alex, said repeal or replace. the reality is -- and this is really important. when conservatives and when republicans specially in the house of representatives say my constituents are screaming for this, they want repeal, they're right because of the gerrymander districts. there is a deep red constituencies saying this is what we voted for. this is why we put new office. members of congress are very much, very much in favor of appealing this because that's
