south korea. nbc correspondent matt bradley. good to have you with us. comes as the u.s. deputy secretary of state said with a meeting not to rule out the future possibility of their rest hawks with north korea. trying to down play any possibility of diplomatic talks. >> that's right. deputy secretary of state john sullivan in tokyo today talking to his japanese counter parts and said of course diplomacy is on the table now. that's not entirely obvious to the rest of us following the comments from north korea. and the tweets from donald trump. remember, it comes a day after sullivan's boss, rex tillerson, said that the diplomacy would continue until, quote, the first bomb drops. that sounds almost like a deescalation. at least from the u.s. side. donald trump last week tweeted twice in as many days that negotiations so far have been a failure and have been a failure
