mueller. michael flynn have formerly cut ties with mr. trump's personal legal team saying they could not longer discuss the elevation. reported by the "new york times" saying this could be a sign flynn is cooperating with the special counsel. legal experts tell nbc news it's not unusual for a defense team to share information. until hereto party is unwilling or unable to do so under the law. president trump's personal attorney refused to give specifics regarding the discussion between the two legal teams. said the change came as no prize. he added, quote, what was not entirely unexpected was that flynn may be discussing a plea with special counsel. no one should draw the conclusion this means anything about general flynn cooperating against the president. the white house special counsel had no comment on the matter because it involves private defense of the president from attorney also declined to comment. in a state, trooper has been shot and killed in texas. suspect is now in custody.

police arrested 32-year-old hours after thanksgiving day shooting. say trooper david allen told black on interstate 45. 90 minutes south of dallas. walked back to patrol car. fired at him with a rifle. he died on the scene. allen was a 15 year veteran of the force and leaves behind a wife and three kids. texas department of public safety said, ask for your prayers for entire team and many friends and colleagues occurring the difficult days ahead. black friday shopping frenzy is in full swing of course. several retailers opened doors on thanksgiving day. some lucky customers got a head start on shopping holiday deals. nbc jay gray is live at the mall in new jersey. jay, i talked to you yesterday when all of this was getting started. anyway, you made the trek over i across to new jersey. what are you seeing so far?

any action? >> right now, a little bit, but just trickles at this point. look, there are some big bargains to be had on big-ticket items for shoppers. biggest holiday gift for this holiday season may be for the retailers. >> reporter: a wave of bargain hu hunters flooding malls and stores across the country. turkey and stuffing apparently not enough for shoppers hungry for savings. >> i'm always out. always out especially on thanksgiving night and black friday. >> there are some big deals today. top american retailers slash their prices 37% on average. analysts say the best buys will be on electronics, appliances, and jewelry. the national retail federation predicts shoppers will take advantage of the markdown. spending on average $970 on gift this holiday season.

total spending for november and december, could climb to over $680 billion. >> there's a lot of demand. consumer confidence is at high point. stock market is at high point. we're seeing a lot of spend go on in the market overall. >> which would make it the happiest holiday season for retailers in years. these brick and mortar stores are expected to do really well. >> i've got so ai commend the people who make it out the get the deals. i do not have it in me. because of course i have to come to work. i was thinking maybe after i leave here i'll stop by a store or two and see if i can pick some christmas gifts up. under high security many americans celebrating

virtually invisible on his own campaign trail. his last public appearance a week ago. since then, his communications director quit. leaving just six staffering on the team. last thursday, moore spoke out refusing to take questions about the nine women accusing him of sexual misconduct. many claim when they were teenagers. >> on tuesday, moore appeared on an alabama cable channel. interviewed bid a supporters of his campaign. >> did you ever date or go out with under age women. turning up the heat with a new attack ad. meanwhile, jones making campaign stops across the state this week. even seen on thanksgiving. we're told moore will have another public event before monday. asked the campaign about his recent absence, but couldn't get
