if it's hard for adults. it's got to be tougher for self conscious teens, especially if it involves other kids and sex. so we decided to put teens to the test with their parents observing remotely without them knowing. will these teens say something? would your teen? it's a topic many of us parents would rather avoid. >> not really something that we talk about. >> i haven't talked to him that much about that kind of thing. >> it's uncomfortable talking about sex. >> i never spoke to him about sex. >> you never talked to him about sex. now is the time. >> now is the time, i know. >> we often don't know where to begin. tonight we're going to help get the conversation started. >> it's not just the one big sex talk. it can be lots of little takes you're having with your kids. >> it's not about the birds and the bees. we're addressing some of the very real and sometimes dangerous things teens are confronted with today.

>> it's the epicenter of the investigation -- >> it's wrong on every level. it's privacy. it's respect. >> in some instances kids face criminal charges and fallout for victims can be devastating, from cyber bullying to a ruined reputation, to even suicide. >> for our first test we wanted to see what teens would do when they witness a guy claiming he plans to post an inappropriate photo of a girl -- >> oh, my god. >> -- without her knowledge. to help create a realistic setting, we rented this party space in new jersey complete with card table, darts, pool table and hidden cameras. we mixed in actors and other kids to fill the room and invited teens to what they think

is a taste test of energy drinks. their parents, who know the real reason they're here, agree to bring them because they believe there are important lessons to be learned. the first teen to figure out what to do will be 15-year-old chelsea. she's been dropped off at the party space ready for the taste test. she doesn't know o her mom is outside in a secret command center, outfitted with monitors hooked up to hidden cameras, so she can see chelsea's every move. >> tell me about your relationship with your daughter. >> we have a very open relationship. she's very mature for her age. >> she says chelsea who is an only child, would never post racy pictures of herself and she'd stop someone she knows from doing it. but at this party she's meeting everyone for the first time. >> how do you think your daughter will react in that situation? >> i'm not quite sure if she's going to say how inappropriate it is for him to do that in the

be more specific, and the best way to do that is through role playing. >> ask your child, what do you think you would say in this moment? if your child is like, i don't know, i would just handle it. no, what would you precisely say? keep role playing, all different kinds of situations so they gain the skill set for themselves. >> for this test, chelsea had to go it alone, but in this next group, three teens will be put to the test. will being in a group make it easier to step in. michaelle is 17, zoe is 16 and kayla is 15. all their moms say they've spoken to their daughters about being careful when it comes to posting anything online. >> i talk to her about that often, especially with getting closer to college. >> michaelle's mom says her daughter is the nurturing type. she's always looking out for her friends. >> you think she feels protective of others if they were in a situation --
