a player on the global stage, not for any sort of nefarious action. as you mentioned nikki haley talking about the new sanctions to be announced today. sanctions that would hit companies with connections to equipment related to chemical weapon's use. she said "i think everyone will feel it this time." the u.s. already imposed sanctions on a dozen companies with tied to president putin. those sapnctions apparently biting in some respects. russia has been talking about counter sanctions, it is something they're ready to debate this week. sanctions possibly on the

of this, there was a moment where we thought there could be a military response to all of this from russia in their tweet they sent out. is there any inkling that could still happen? >> not really, russia has really backed off from saying -- from talking about any sort of counter strike. any sort of military strike. that was really a threat from russia. if any sort of russian assets would be affected in those strikes and the u.s. clearly steered clear, made it a point to steer clear of the aircraft and personnel. that has gone away, but there is still very heated rhetoric coming from the russian side hitting back about how russia is on the good side here and they should not be attacked. >> kelly and ali, thank you

comey, who has begun his five-week book and interview tour as he goes coast to coast to talk about his book, which is finally out tomorrow, even though it's driven news for days. and two of the interviews that are out with the fired fbi director, they show what's coming in almost identical words in the two interviews he talks why the president is morally unfit for president. why is that important? why that matters is that james comey is going to have the discipline of a political candidate as he goes off on this trip. he's got a message that he'll repeat again and again. >> so what kind of reaction, mike, are you and your colleagues hearing about comey's interview last night? who are people thinking is more believable, president trump or jim comey? >> your viewers saw, the president yesterday tweeted five times about james comey. one for each of the weeks that he's going to be out on his book

robert mueller doesn't have the flair for the dramatic that james comey has and he'll stick to facts. so what's more important than what james comey is saying now is what he left behind in the form of that memo and those records. >> yeah. he walks us through the interaction in the book when the president asks him for loyalty in that meeting at the white house. i know that axios is looking at how the comey interview is part of fbi's revenge following trump's previous attacks on the bureau. why could this be bad for the president? >> yeah. so they used to say don't pick a fight with someone who buys ink by a barrel. also don't pick a fight with someone whose job it is to find damaging information on people. and the president has been trolling the fbi, criticizing the fbi throughout this investigation. and now we see on three fronts the fbi really taking its toll on him. you have james comey out there. the fbi director that he fired
