issue for him. the timing is great for the administration. it's right for the midterms. this will be an extra factor for them. more confidence and excitement right before the election. >> kevin, the other big international story, missing saudi journalist jamaal khashog khashoggi. >> this is a very serious thing and we're looking at this in a serious matter. have you spoken with the king of saudi arabia about this matter? >> i have not. i have not. >> do you plan to, sir? >> i will be at some point calling king salman. >> kevin, do you have any idea on the strategy? some are presuming that his past ties with saudi arabia is making

him less tough on them. >> he announced a $110 billion commitment over the next decade in u.s./saudi relationships with particular regard to aircraft military. look. king mohammad bin salman, he put on a charm offensive for the news media. this is a first touch. it comes at a time when they had been at a turning point, particularly with the u.s. criticizing iran and removing itself from the iran nuclear deal. the bottom line, though, had to get approved by the senate art virtually -- particularly

senator graham and bob corker are calling on this and wanting an investigation. they sate could put in jeopardy the arms deal -- i'm sorry -- the money. the president says he doesn't necessarily like. very quickly i would note this also has to do with the pastor. it also has to do with turkey because turkey has been it for some time. whether or not turkey aligns itself with the u.s. and russia is now in play. >> in a few minutes i'm going to talk to richard engel in turkey about that. he's rallying in a number of states. what is the strategy and is there any evidence that the strategy is working? >>. >> i think it's just to flood the zone on media challenge.

he's been hosting rallies all week long all over the united states. he's been calling in on the fox programs. he thinks the more he can be out there spreading the message unfilter, the better it is for him. democrats think that will help them. there are polls showing that voters who dis-like the president are feeling more motivated to vote in the midterms. >> something else front and center, kevin, i want to ask you about the kanye west oval office meeting. how is that being framed by the white house? >> it's been critical on how kanye west has affected the chatter.

democrats are criticizing kanye west, republicans saying that the president is looking to talk with maybe some folks who are not opposed to it. let me just say this. i'm a fan of kanye west and of taylor swift, but i'm not going to vote their way. >> that's a good point. if people get out and vote, that's great. tessa, there's a question regarding the robert mueller investigation. how is that move being interpreted? >> this is a big deal, a culmination of months of work. it's been a better part of the year between the president's lawyers and mueller's lawyers and an interview, if it would take place, the scope of the

questions allowed. it shows mueller's probe might be moving into the final phases of dealing with president trump and it will be the first that they head from trump. >> kevin, does this mean the muller investigation is coming to a close? >> i think it's the biggest unknown. it could be a big surprise. it will be interesting to see how it mobilizes the left or right. >> stay with men. devastating images coming out of florida in the aftermath of hurricane matthew -- michael. sorry. th tammy has the latest. what is the latest down here?

building. for the last 24 hours, saudi diplomats and staff have been coming and going. they out, they don't taunt to recorderet between ter yes and sau saudi. turkey, which has been suffering from serious economic hardships in the last month or so wants this problem to go away. it doesn't seem to be going away. in terms of khashoggi's state of mind when he went into the consulate, that's very interesting that the fiancee said she was not nervous. that's not what she was saying a few days ago. a few days ago she said khashoggi told her to stay outside and aall right authorities should he not come out. she waited many hours outside.

the fact she's softening her story now could suggest that turkey -- because she's been in contact with turkish authorities, that they're trying to find a way out, smoothing over some of the feathers that have been ruffled recently. there's also another new twist in the story, but it also involving the them. what do you make of that and what are the peckations rail quick. >> well, i think president trump has put a lot of pressure on saudi arabia to come up with an answer. so far it's only that khashoggi
