good morning. it's friday, october 19th. the midterm elections are just 18 days away. president trump got an early start on his weekend campaign swing through the west. speaking in arizona tonight, nevada on saturday. in montana last night the president laid out his campaign themes in blunt terms. >> this will be an election of kavanaugh, the caravan, law and order and common sense. it's going to be an election of those things. and we're doing a lot of good. the democrats have truly turned into an angry mob, bent on destroying anything or anyone in their path. the democrat mob, we're calling it a mob now. a lot of people are -- these people are starting to think of

2:03 am
i said, oh, this is terrible. he's going to lose the election. then i said, wait a second, i know montana pretty well. i think it might help him and it did. the whisper campaign to smear jamal kashoggi is led by president trump. four gop officials tell the post that in recent days conservative house republicaned al ee eed ha highlighting his association with the muslim brotherhood in his youth and raising questions about his work decades ago as an embedded reporter covering osama bin laden. >> now some things have come out and we're just reporting the facts. we don't have to fall down one way or the other on this, but kashoggi was tied to the muslim brotherhood.

still, there's strong circumstantial evidence that agents of the 15-member saudi team accused of killing kashoggi have close ties to mbs. three people tell the "new york times" that saudi leaders are considering a plan that would place the blame on a top intelligence official who is a high-ranking advisor to mbs in evident to he effort to help deflect blame. t on wednesday the turkish government leaked some gruesome details it says are indeed from that audio recording. >> you've got the white house weighing all of this, some meetings yesterday with the secretary of state, secretary of the treasury decided he's not going to go to saudi arabia for this investment conference. what is the white house weighing at this point? >> i think the white house and

record. house speaker nancy pelosi will bring with her a leadership team that's more diverse than any either chamber as seen in the history of the united states congress if the democrats prevail next month. her committee chair people will be almost half women or minority or even both. that's a big departure for republicans which are almost all white men. that's true and more broadly than the party. we expect with record numbers of women and other minorities running this year, that that could change a lot after the midterms. >> and you talk about a nancy pelosi leadership team, many democrats said they wouldn't support her if she'ses in that leadership position. what's your latest read of that conversation? >> that's a pretty common parlor game on both sides of the aisle trying to figure out which
2:57 am
groups of the party are going after leadership. we did it with paul ryan. we're doing it now with nancy pa lowsy. but i think it's relatively certain that if she differs a house majority to democrats, she won't get the speakership. >> can we take a peek at what was happening on the campaign trail with the president. i'm just curious overall. what is going to be his closing argument? is it going to be jobs versus mobs, as we heard, or what do you think he will do to try and clench the votes for the republicans? >> we had it narrowed down to migration, ms3, mueller and media. i think you can drop mueller off that list. the russia investigation hasn't played prominently lately. immigration was a huge issue yesterday. president trump tweeting about it all morning and making it a big focal point on the rally last night. in montana, look for that again. the trump administration

3:00 am
until last night. i never expected the are red sox to roll over them and make a great team. a team that looked historically great look that bad. >> it turns on out the red sox are historically great. 108 wins. even as a yankee fan, i'm so happy for david price. he was shut down. he hadn't won a game in the postseason ever and he was absolutely dominant last night. the red sox, i have news for you, are the best team in baseball. >> jonathan lamere, we may have to at some point admit this because we predicted the yankees sweep at the end of the season. we predicted the yankees were going to beat us in the playoffs. we predicted the astros were going to beat us in the playoffs. but my gosh, one game after the other after the other. the red sox were extraordinary. you look at the entire series, our hitting and our extraordinary defense in the outfield, probably the best defensive outfield in our lifetime.
