it's wednesday, november 14th. there are mounting reports of distent in the white house. president trump stunned by rebuke in the midterms is retreating from traditional presidential duties. the washington post dives deep into the past five days with the president's temper boiling over. the president snapped at a reporter for what he called a stupid question. he did the same in private with america's closest allies. aboard air force 1 he lost his cool with british prime minister teresa may who called to congratulate him on the midterms. he berated may on iran, trade and brexit. on his flight and throughout the weekend, he was preoccupied. in fact he watch would mounting tension as a number of house contests flipping out of

republican hands and after he chose not to attend the memorial for soldiers due to a lengthy motorcade, he thought he looked terrible. and that it would be ea public relg relations nightmare. all of this after clashes with the first lady is driving chief of staff, kelly to leave soon. some say he has gotten on the wrong side of of milania trump. and some of the disputes have escalated now to the president. she raised concerns with her president earlier this year but kelly had repeatedly denied her request to promote some of her aid. quote i don't need this expletive. a furious trump told kelly.

there have been instances where the east wing staff were not treated as equals to the male dominated decision makers in kelly's office. promotions denied and finally granted after months of request. the white house declined to comment. we'rallo following unprecedented clashes between the first lady and a senior security official. she called for the firing of mira ricardel. saying quote it is the position of the office of the first lady that she no longer deserves the honor of serving in this whiesz. at the very same hour shs ricard eshs lerks was even appearing in photos the president posted to his twitter account. ricardel has even clashed with general kelly.

an anonymous official says she has been confirmed by the senate and has never met milania trump. and reporting that nick ayr eshs sshs is among those that might replace kelly. one white house official speaking under condition of anonymity said personnel decisions don't mean anything until formally announced. >> and the washington post shs as you pointed during sunday's flight from paris, aids in the private cabin to lobby against ayres. they said appointing ehim would perhaps trigger an expletive. and he enjoys the support of ivanka trump and kushner. trrs the vice president's office

who can shepered the white house into a new era of the trump presidency. the president is going to have to work with a democratic controlled house. he's going to face a number off investigations and somebody in that role needs to be able to lead the white house and run a staff and make sure morale is as high as it possibly can despite all the investigations and subpoenas aids are going to face. nick ayres is supported by the president's children including donald trump jr. who has been a frequent person on the campaign trail. but he also faces some staff opposition. there are a number of people in the white house who view him as this political ladder climbbar. the other person being floated is the director of the office of management and budget. he's a close ally of the president. he has a great relationship with president trump.

and aids think he would fit nicely into that role. >> remember floating the idea that the president would be his own chief of stafff? >> and his own communications director. and milania trump. releasing a stunning and somewhat unprecedented statement weighing in on national security staff on world kindness day. is this kind of reaction unprecedented? i know they weigh in on a lot of things internally but to do so brazen like this >> it's not unusual to clash. ronald regan and nancy regan are one of the primary examples that came to mind.

welcome back, everyone. british prime minister theresa may is set to hold a cabinet meeting this morning as she faces a critical test moving forward in brexit. the meeting comes after a finalized draft agreement on the matter after months of delays. wilhelm marks joins us live from outside of parliament in london. what can we expect in today's meeting, do we have a sense of of what that final agreement looks like? >> we do. what they're now looking for is for the politicians to agree to the details. the cabinet are will meet around 2:00 p.m., which is 9:00 for you guys. they're trying to figure out whether it's palatable to the various ministers who all have their ideas what brexit should look like. the biggest challenge for her is

not only getting it through the cabinet today, it's also getting it thigh the parliament behind me. and the house had of commons are not looking like they're very happy with some of the details here, especially when it comes to the border between the republic of ireland and northern ireland. ahead of that vote, we've heard from a number of lawmakers, opposition parties that they would vote against the agreement, which they haven't even seen, but based on the details they've been given so far. so real challenges for theresa may in the days and weeks ahead. >> we have been hearing from some british officials saying that they want to have a second brexit referendum among the public. >> remember the reaction after the first one? some people were saying we didn't really know exactly what we were doing. so joining us here on set with axios a.m., nicholas johnston. what is the one big thing? >> trump's next chief.

what is going to happen the to chief of staff john kelly, is he on his way out and who might replace him? a lot of focus is narrowing on nick ayers. the president has a very good relationship with nick. and also, he came in and he's negative. he's a former consultant/lobbyist. some people are saying that he's a member of the swamp that the president is trying to drain. what nick tells his friends when asked about this is who knows. jonathan swan my friend and colleague says don't trust any of these rumors until you see it in writing. in almost all of these, the day a person is appointed, the first story is when is he out. >> who is definitely not in consideration for this job? >> mick mulvaney, the budget

director. he's not interested in it. he's happening doing his budget office work. what he may be interested in, if there's additional cabinet shake-ups, moving into one of those additional cabinet positions. >> what happened with this dust up with melania trump? what is going on here? do we know why this happened, if she is on her had way out? >> we know as you reported there was some tension on that trip with his foreign counsel. this is very much sort of striking a very strong tone also in the white house. i think she clashed with the first lady. i thought that treat twt president with, the statement from the first lady's office was something i've never seen. but it reminded me, do you know done reigan and nancy reagan, don't get in a fight with the first lady because you will lose. >> the president floated that he

would be his own chief of staff. is that completely off the table now? >> he almost is his own chief of staff as it is now. that's sort of the challenges that general kelly has had the entire time is managing those information flows and keeping track of who the president is calling and who is president is talking to. i think the president certainly is, unlike many of his predecessors, his own chief of sav. even if john kelly is forced out, there will be someone replacing him in that role. >> can i ask about the latest with jim acosta. we have the lawsuit cnn filed against the white house. >> we talked to some legal aides yesterday saying that the secret service and government agencies can't revoke those things. we spoke to one of trump's allies who says cnn's position is pretty good. we'll have to see how quickly that moves through the courts. >> let me ask you quickly about the topic of immigration. the caravan has fallen by the
