. good night from nbc news headquarters here in new york. a new bomb shell report from the new york times. one of paul manafort's attorneys has repeatedly talked to trump's legal team about the questions his client was asked by the special counsel's os. president trump says he may have a plan b if they reject his request for wall funding. and senator cindy hyde-smith claims victory in a run off led by race-related controversies. ♪ good morning everyone. wednesday, november 28th.

we begin with breaking news concerning paul manafort and the russia probe. according to new reporting from the new york times, he's been briefing the president's lawyers about his meetings with the special counsel's team. he repeatedly briefed the legal team on his client's discussions even after he agreed to cooperate with the special counsel. that's according to trump's lawyers and two other people familiar with the conversation. rudy giuliani defended it as a source of valuable insight into the inquiry and where it was headed. he said in one examal that prosecutors hammered away at whether the president knew about the infamous trump tower meeting. he wants him to incriminate trump.

>> we learned the special counsel wants to scrap manafort's plea deal, claiming he repeatedly lied to investigators. a claim manafort denies. this comes hours after manafort vigorously denied a report that claimed he met with wikileaks founder several times, including right around the time manafort joined the from campaign. manafort says in part i rr never met julian assange or anyone connected to him. i rr never been contacted by anyone connected to wikileaks direct laeor indirectly. "and wikileaks posted on twitter that assange planned to sue the newspaper for libel. and questions over the

massive democratic email leak by wikileaks. it lays out information he has on corsi. in there are information about corsi to stone. in one email from early augs of 2016, corsi writes word is friend ism baes plans two more dums. >> and he also wrote to stone "time to let more to be exposed. they're not ready to drop hillary rodham clinton. in the court papers, he says he scrubbed his computer between midjanuary and early march of last year, deleteing all email correspondence that preidated 2016.

corsi said he guessed about the email dump and happened to be right. >> i believe these podesta emails would destroy hillary. why did i think they were coming out in october? because i said to myself if i had these emails, i'd use them as the october surprise. >> but you didn't know that at the time, did you? >> this is speculation. >> you didn't exactly write to him it would be drip by drip. >> there's phone conversations i had with him. >> so you essentially told stone what was going to happen. >> what i said was i thought i was giving rauj arcover story. an alternative explanation for saying podesta is going to be in the barrel. based on my research on podesta. >> so you were telling him he

could use this story -- >> absolutely. >> so the court papers show they sent corsi a plea agreement, eare questing a sentence. if he agreed to plead guilty to one count of lying to investigators. corsi says he rejected that deal. >> scott, great to have you with us on this very busy morning. let's talk about the latest developments in both that his team had been briefing the president, also what we saw a day earlier with the special counsel. how does that impact the russia investigation at large? >> it's huge. paul manafort's job was essentially running the trump campaign and handling votes from delegates when his connections to russian oligarchs became too much for the trump campaign to handle.

the major problem is that he has a very long track record of lying both to the federal government, the fbi, mueller investigation. the initial crimes, the main thrust of the problems is because he lied about the source of his income. he then lied about his ability to lobby federal agencies on behalf of his foreign clients. he has since allegedly according to the latest court filing from the mueller investigation, lied about his intent to give him the truth and real potential about engagement between trump-affiliated people and wikileaks and assange hackers. it's very, very -- >> so where does mueller go from here? the emails he has between roger

stone and c osorsi. is it pointing to being the nail? >> roger stone was a trump campaign advisor. he's part of that loose gallery of people were very much emish ammed in giving now president trump advice during the campaign. what the main question regarding roger stone and gordon corsi is on is whether they can be proven to have it -- if it can be proven that not only they knew about the crime but were coordinating with assange and wikileaks and those who can obtained these emails from the dnc, they can be co conspirators. >> thank you. >> thanks for coming in early. now to the show down over

powers not to help others but to protect humself and in the long run our system does give the president a lot of powers with the assumption he'll act with virtue and this president might use it for self interest. a lot of people talk about constitutional crisis. i think we're in one when the president uses the powers to basically evade the law. and a democratically controlled congress. you heard from abdomdam schiff. >> i think that there's a house of representatives controlled by democrats is a very significant check. a and the mere fact that there can be subpoena power, this investigation and i think there will be and should be a house

joivning us now from washington, d.c., nicholas johnston. what is the one big thick for us this morning? >> the one big thick is the

mueller acceleration. there's a lot of signs pointing to a quickening pace of the mueller investigation that could set us up for a big december. we spoke to garrett graph and he points to a handful of things that happened in recent weeks. some of them are the increasing pressure on donald stogi, very similar to the russian agent maria batina who is poeblg involv -- possibly involved in a plea agreement. we had reports that mueller's aides were working furiously, including on veterans day he when michael cohen came to town. finally, mueller has president trump on record.

it's difficult for president trump to call this a witch-hunt now that he's participated. and how do you think the white house will respond knowing that president trump knows there is an acceleration. >> we've seen that even this week in his twitter account, continuing to attack the investigation, continuing to call it a witch-hunt, continuing to say why is it democrats involved in these. that is certainly in time with president trump and his allies in an attempt to delegitimize the investigation and its conclusions. >> i know axios has been looking at new figures on undocumented immigrants and the rate at which they are coming into the country. what are we learning about that? >> the latest data out now shows the number of unauthorized

immigrants in the united states is reaching a decade long low. this data is from 2016. but it does sort of go against the narrative that there's an invasion of undocumented immigrants entering the country. the real reasoning behind this is economic. most of the immigrants are freeing economies that are sort of in shambles. and most of the jobs they take in the united states haven't returned since the great depression and in mexico the economy has been stronger. what that doesn't impact as much is im.grants beyond mexico. there those economies are still damaged. >> axios has new polling of all things life expectancy in this country, just how long we actually want to live for. what is this number? >> i'll tell you what, with the stress that we've been living through the last couple of years, it may be getting
