not see the official mueller report ever. however, we have been hearing from mueller throughout this entire investigation as he indicts individuals that he has believed to have committed crimes with very detailed indictments. they're nomly documents that are bare bones telling only the amount of information necessary so as not to reveal anything else about an investigation. but mueller has departed from this rule and revealed very, very detailed factual indictments provides lots of information about the kind of work he and his team have done to date. >> let's look at one, roger stone. there are new documents obtained by the atlantic that provide a 2016 email. here's what it said, quote. get to assange and get the wikileaks emails.
4:31 am
so stone's deposition is the first time mueller's team has asked. why is his congressional testimony a concern for mueller. >> there are two main avenues. first, was stone and his co-tore repart of this collusion to commit some kind of computer hacking, but even if he wasn't, did roger stone lie in his multiple testimonies and interviews with congress or elsewhere? and if he did, he's liable for section 1,001, false statements. but going back to the russia and lucky weeks, but even if he was, in order to show conspiracy, you need just a little more information, and directing someone to get wikileaks or get information crosses that barrierle and potentially into

1.6? you're not getting wall today, next week, or january 3rd. >> mr. president, dig in. >> well, if you're just waking up, breaking news this morning, the battle over border funding shutting down the government. both sides digging in. joining me now, brian darling, a former communications senator for rand paul and don callaway. good to see you guys on this saturday. don, i want to start with you. the question needs to be asked. is there room for compromise from the democrats' perspective or do they hold some sort of leverage and will the president have to be the first to blink? >> in the big picture, there's compromise. when it comes to the wall absolutely not. january 3rd, naency pelosi taying over and is an absolute nonstarter in terms of funding from the house, and in this last week we have remaining from 2018, i just don't see it happening. democrats are not gong to allow
4:43 am
the 60-vote threshold that withowould allow us to get to the wall. senator macy her rona said this idea is upper-level low absolute nonsense. >> you're saying if there's room for compromise, it only exists in the next ten days before january 3rd, however, everybody's out of town. how could it get done? it's not going happen? no compromise? >> what would have to happen is what happened before, suspend the rules, which would require a 60-vote majority to get to the funding. >> mitch mccome said no, he's not going to do it. >> right. the idea that they would own this, it just makes no sense. let's be very clear about this. mitch mcconnell doesn't have the republican votes for the wall
4:44 am
and he knows that, which is why it's not happening at all. >> to that end, brian. what don was just saying there, doesn't the president own this shutdown? here's why. let's all take a listen to this. >> i'll tell you what. i am proud to shut down the government for border security, chuck. i will take the mantle. i will shut it down. i won't blake you for it. i'll take the mantle of shutting it down. i'm going to shut it down for border security. >> brian, didn't the president paunlt himself into the corner there? the democrats don't have to budge. they can just ignore it and replay this loop over and over again. >> that's right. president trump may not blame the democrats for shutting down the government, but i will. look at what senator schumer said, there will be no funding p obviously it's become a proxy fight in 2020.
4:45 am
>> wait a minute. the question i asked you, isn't the president responsible for this? i just played that tape. it doesn't give you any more proof than that sth the democrats have also said they will not give it to him. so when you have a 60-vote threshold in the senate to shut the down debate, democrats have power to shut down the government. this is obviously a fight where both sides can tame some blame or credit depending how you look at it. so i don't think it's fair to say the president gets the blame. >> republicans don't have to put this up as part of the agenda, so, of course, they're the oning proffering and offering the border wall as the main linchpin here. so it's not on democrats.
4:46 am
that i don't right or control it. >> look, brian. if the president did not get any border wall funding, how damaging would that be for him politically? you've got the ann coulters and rush limbaughs of the world shaming him. look at ann coulter. she called him gutless. you cannot hear that snow no. but you heard the democrat,le not putting daca on the table is a way to negotiate over more border security on the solution for the docket issue. so the democrats are just as trancy subsequent as republicans. it's a war of words. i's stare-down. >> is there any reason to
4:47 am
suggest that the democrats may say we're going to try to find compromise in the wake of our actions. >> right. >> any way to do that? >> no, not when it comes to the wall. the democrats have a moral imperative to not build the wall. we find it a waste of money and not in the interest of national security or any overarching national interest. it's ironic that we shut down homeland security in an effort to build a wall. we're not talking about people who are overstaying visas from europe or asia. the southern ball -- excuse me -- the southern border wall is a racist froksy for president trump's racist immigration policies. wait one second. i'm not done that. is the fundamental idea. no, there's no room for compromise on the wall and the
4:48 am
president is not going to get it. >> that's simply not true. they're willing to give him 1 president 3 billion dollars,le just not as much as you wabltd. >> why doesn't the president take that. really? at the time of christmas? come on, mr. grinch. why doesn't he do it? is it because of the ann coulter and rush limbaughs calling him out? >> some of the democrats want the fight too. you can say the ann coulters of the world are controlling the republican party, but the democrats are controlled by many far left interests, alexandria
4:49 am
ocasio-cortez. >> does she hold office yet? >> she's clearly a leader of a committee. >> wait a minute. >> she's outspoken. she's not a leader. she ee's outspoken. >> she's on their all the time. >> no. is that a problem? >> yes. medicare for all is a problem because it's socialism. >> i don't have time for that right now. how does this play out? >> the wall will not be funded. it will go to the house in january and go to another c.r. which will allow for another year or two your. how about you, brian? how do you see this playing out? >> unfortunately, yes. >> they could negotiate and get this done possibly as early as the next few days.
4:50 am
i bet they cut a deal. >> what kind of deal? something closer to $5 billion funding -- come to some sort of agreement and everybody will be able to go home and at least enjoy new year's. >> well, we'll see. brian darling, don calloway. thank you so much and happy holidays to you both. the arrests made in the airports here that messed up travel thousands of people. we go there next. people. we go there next
