center. this is actually a pin hole center. the diameter is very compact. that means it is slowing down rapidly. we do have a category 4 with sustained winds of 140 miles per hour. yesterday, we were at 14 to 15 miles per hour. the problem here is dorian continuously slows down here in the next 24 to 36 hours, so that is life threatening flooding, catastrophic storm surge we are still forecasting for florida. let's look at the big change here. the great news here. we are still going to see a strong storm but look how far it is out to sea now. not potentially making land fall for florida. west palm beach, still potentially a cat 3 hurricane

florida, south florida to orlando here. 10 to 20 inches possible. with the high tide, that storm surge is still very deadly at times. also, the winds are going to be picking up to hurricane force across the florida coastline. but now, southern georgia to south carolina to north carolina, they are currently on our radar. we are still watching for strong winds and high tides still going to be a major issue. with the cone of uncertainty continuously changing. this is actually really good news for florida. but now, we are adding three to four more states into a potential landfall hereof hurricane force winds and damage. the big change now that this is going to be a coastal event.

3:11 am
what is your biggest concern now? we have this latest model as the storm looks like it may move slightly more off the coast. what does that mean? >> our city is at sea level. the concern for us, especially given the fact and as we know is king tide, which is the high tide because of lunar events. a storm surge could create problems. we are prepared. i tell my residents nobody should exhale yet. we are not meteorologist. don't assume it is not coming to our community. from here, i'm going to go to our sand bag center where we have two locations for residents to get sand bags. we are good at this but the worst thing we can do is exhale and say don't worry about it.
3:12 am
and that can happen. >> what are the evacuation orders right now? we know the president said let's wait and see. when will you need to know if you have to evacuate? >> i think over the next 24 hours. our orders come from the county mayor. he looks at flood plains. these are science based decisions. if we are told zone a, which is where we are is probe for flooding, he'll issue the evacuation order. we have to give them enough time. we tell our residents well in advance, weeks ago ahead of hurricane season, have an idea of where you'll go. have friends inland, relatives, a hotel. we'll know that in the next 24 hours. the mayor will make that decision. >> it is all about having a plan, if you can stick to it. we also know getting to an

evacuation zone or going to a friend's house, that costs gas. according to gas buddy, 70% of stations in the miami area are already without fuel. >> last night, i was coming home and i wanted to fill up my car and the only gas available was regular. but it was easy to get. there are moments where it is crowded. you can find gas right now. sometimes a lot of people rush and it creates an artificial line. right now, the entire state of florida is under this probability. people can't take their foot off the gas, they got to be ready and prepare for the worse and hope for the best. >> we know florida under a state of emergency. the governor has activated the national guard and said there is even more troops arready to go.
