time. he and his wife melania requested absentee ballots. even though capable of dropping off golf clubs at mar-a-largo and going to polling place. most famous mail-in voter at it again, also voted by mail in presidential primary in march. curious, yesterday he told the regular folks in america that all of you should think long and hard about having a fair election, then suck it up, risk your lives standing in line in a pandemic. >> what would mean is that people will have to go to the polls and vote like the old days. i'm not saying anything wrong with voting, i want them to vote, but that would mean they'd have to go to a voting booth like they used to and vote.

inspector general is investigating policy changes under dejoy. councilwoman davis has called for firing of postmaster general louis dejoy. i think a lot of people agree with you, but can that be done? who is in charge of whether or not the man can be fired? the president, a board? walk us through it. >> first, thank you for having me here and talking about this. so important. postal office serves important function in our country. end of the day of course the president can fire the postmaster general at his pleasure. and he absolutely needs to do that. one of the things i think we need to see, i want to see my republican colleagues come to the table.

i know so many have expressed support for the postal service. what i need them to do right now is take action and convince this president to fire the postmastergeneral and bring on somebody who is not going to be playing political games with our democracy and the health and well-being of so many of our seniors depending on the post office for prescription drugs. >> and this is an important point. i said this before on the show, donald trump acts as if the only thing the post office does is deliver ballots because he's laser focused on clinging to power and the presidency. he's acting like that's all they do. there's delivery of prescription drugs, paychecks, social security checks. can you just tell us in your district has has slowdown in the operations affected your constituents? >> i can tell you that our

phones have been bringing, been getting tons of folks reaching out to the office, first of all, folks are outraged about the interference that this president is attempting to clearly -- clearly attempting to hijack an election by slowing down the postal service and we've got a postmaster general who needs to be removed so he's no longer hindering the services that the post office is providing. the seniors, you mentioned it earlier, seniors, 80% of veterans get their medications delivered by the post office. these are folks who absolutely depend on the service. so there's fear, worry, and outrage. and i'm right alongside folks with the outrage, i just have to say this, my mom served in the army for 20 years and has now been at the post office for nearly 20 years, and when i

asked her earlier today how she felt about what was going on, she said that to have a postmaster general doing things like removing machinery and trying to slow down the service that all he's doing is stopping people from -- they want to do their jobs. they want to get people the medications they need, and help the small businesses out there trying to keep our economy afloat. it's unconscionable. >> have you heard from pat roberts or jay maran, the two senators from your state? are they supporting your effort? >> i have not, but i hope they join me and i hope the other senators from the midwest will join me in calling for the postmaster general to be immediately removed and replaced with new leadership that certainly we can have a postmaster general able to

that hearings delayed are best. we need them to happen right away. it's important for people to remember this can only happen because congress allows it to happen. congress funds the post office, and congress, the senate has gone ghost on us, led by mitch mcconnell. the republicans have not spoken out on this issue that goes to the core of american democracy. we have the right to pressure the representatives, they've left washington, d.c., but supposed to be at districts in states around the country. are we making it uncomfortable for them is the question i would ask. will be litigation from a variety of fronts, i have no doubt. but at this point it's important for us to decide we're going to vote no matter what. what that means, tonight, tomorrow, every person who can go online and order absentee ballot does so now.

order it so it arrives in time and they can get it back to the board of elections on time. encourage people to take the ballot to drop off at board of elections rather than the mail if they can't return it quickly. drop it of f. some states have dropboxes, use them. for those voting in person, suggesting and encouraging people to prepare, you need to know when early voting starts and try to early vote. need as many people to do that as possible. this is very important for the african-american community, early voting. if you plan to vote on november 3rd, make sure you have ppe, a mask and gloves. there are black churches around the country pledged to provide ppe on election day, and all of us need to be ready and fasten our seat belts, we may not know the outcome that night, need

time to count the absentee ballots. but all the pressure points. pressure on the congress, the president, the senate to tell them to pressure the president. we need to resolve within our communities we're going to vote and not going to allow either the most nefarious diabolical voter suppression scheme i've ever seen, or utter incompetence of a public official at the post office. either scenario suggests the man should be removed from office but we have to work on multiple fronts as we try to save and pressure the profesost office. be ready to have our votes count. >> republican party is morphing into something that looks like south african party rather than

crises happening and 20 different news cycles in a given day. it's very hard to process it all. >> absolutely. republicans seem to be coming at attempt to ensure donald trump's re-election at all costs. lincoln project not just going after mitch mcconnell but going after each of the vulnerable republicans and feels like democrats should be doing, focusing on each of the republicans seeking re-election on the fact they're doing nothing to stop the post office -- also delivers the social security checks and prescription drugs are late, republicans do not care, the destruction caused to ordinary people, senior citizens, their own constituents, as long as trump clings to power, doesn't seem if they care. let me read this and respond to it.
