had taken this virus seriously at the beginning and laid out the bisices that need to happen in order to get it under control or try to flatten the curve, we would be far ahead of now. he didn't. and it makes it extraordinary difficult for governors like cuomo. to shut things down. because you have the president saying don't to it. and the other republican governors, they're not all republicans governors are doing it. maryland is very strong on trying to protect people. it's mindless. you can have your freedom and run around without a mask. you risk not only getting yourself sick but getting others sick. it's a kind of -- lack of acknowledgment that you have a responsibility to others. that's what is so sad about this. looking forward to when joe biden takes the oath of office and will ask us to wear masks for 100 days. not forever. there are people who won't do it. it needs to be enforced.

>> governor, when you run for governor of a state, you have a duty to your constituents to keep them alive. does that duty out weighed by the desire to keep them happy? which is the bigger duty? >> to keep them alive. there's no question ab it. the other half is if you take the actions early enough on and if we had had a consistent message from the white house, we could have kept businesses open. we didn't have to go through bha we're going through now. perhaps the worst thing is a small business is open only to be told to close again. when they stock up and get things in. expecting to be able to sell. and they have to close down again. it's put us in a difficult position. people are neither enjoying themselves because they are losing their jobs and homes and scared about the future. nor staying healthy. it's the worst of both worlds.

murder. if not manslaughter. we're seeing people pay the price with their lives. one has to ask themselves what sort of precedent are we creating with this no common good, no mask policy. can people all of a sudden walk into restaurants in florida and decide they'll start smoking despite regulations that say you can't smoke in public restaurants because personal freedom. what message is this communicating to florida who bare the brunt. but around the world. it's horrifying. i remember saying on your former show a.m. joy when talking about this, it sounded hyper bollic. i said the republican party is akin to a domestic terror organization. and how the conduct of policy impact lives. there are people paying for lives now. how is this not the actions of a group that is hostile to

will keep people safe. we have more than enough data to show that this simple little mask can actually save lives. we have data showing states that mandate masks have far fewer cases. i have been living in new york since the start of the pandemic. i was here during the hellish period in march and april. when we had 1,000 poem dying in one 24 hour period. governor cuomo made the very difficult decision to shut down. in new york city, state. where there's broad way and restaurants, museums. yankees stadium. so much. shut down. people lost their jobs. it was very difficult. you know what, it happened because it was the one thing to do in order to save lives. when you're in the middle of an infectious disease out break. we have decades, centuries of data showing lock down is what saves lives.

>> we look athoed the visit tomorrow, republicans are in a very unusual and very rare position of not knowing whether this visit will be helpful or hurtful into this all important senate run off in january. remember president trump for the better part of tw weeks has launched repeated attacks at the validity of the georgia election. and personal attacks at the republican governor here in georgia. kemp. and the republican secretary of state. when i have spoken with republicans they say of course president trump does have a will the of pull in the state, but what republicans are hoping to hear from the president is more about a senator loeffler and perdue. and less about the air of grievances. right now, republicans are in a very interesting position. where they are trying to focus all of the energy and their movement on getting out the vote for the two candidates. but also saddled with the additional burden of trying to

fact that they were overcharging and up charging the inauguration to use the trump hotel. you have her being deposed. suing the trump committee saying it was are the grossly over paying. you have a lot going on. you have tenants suing donald trump over a scheme that drove rent up. there's a lot there that she might touch. do you think she's somebody who may get a bpardon? or get followers excited. >> again, i think it operates on both levels. what i find interesting is that if he does pardon himself or adult children, then that i would think would prompt whoever the next ag is to look into why that might have been the case. it is a red flag.
