good day, everyone. with just 45 days until joe biden is sworn in as president of the united states, the current president, president trump, is spending his final days in the white house ramping up his campaign against reality. at a georgia rally last night the president airing his grievances and amplifying baseless claims of voter fraud, and the state attorney of georgia fact checking those claims. >> we have over 250 cases right now. we reached out and asked for additional manpower resources so we can issue up these investigations quickly. right now we don't see anything that would overturn the will of the people here in georgia. >> on capitol hill pressure is building for congress to pass another round of coronavirus
11:02 am
relief. last hour i spoke with katherine clark who says they have no choice but to act now. >> this package is about getting a bridge to a new administration. that is going to put the focus back on science and creating an even more inclusive economy. but we simply cannot go home for the holidays without making sure that we are getting some relief. >> this comes as the coronavirus pandemic is worsening by the day. even with vaccine approval coming as soon as this week. health officials are urging americans not to let down their guard. >> i want to be very frank. the vaccine is critical but it's not going to save us from the current surge. only we can save us. and we know precisely what to do. so if you have loved ones that you want to protect, you have to follow these guidelines now.
11:03 am
>> we want to check in with correspondents and analysts. how are they encouraging georgians to vote in the run off if they're still pushing the claims that the system is rigged. >> that is the million dollar question. i have been on the ground in the last couple weeks, reporting on those runoffs in georgia. anecdotally we have been hearing from some republican voters on the ground there in georgia who say look, i don't know, this is a whole thing. i'm hearing it's rigged. the president tells me that the elections here can't be trusted. why should i go out and participate in this process? why should i participate in a rigged election. that is creating real questions about how they're going to make this argument. so far what we seem to be hearing from people in trump's orbit is a argument that they
11:04 am
should still vote anyway to make it harder for democrats to "steal the election. kaylee m kayleeigh mcenany was speaking out for trump. >> guess what, let's overwhelm the system with trump votes. show up, every single trump voter in the trump base. every conservative in georgia, show up and cast your vote, we have to over whelm the system with in-person voting. anyone telling you not to vote is not having the right motives here. >> interestingly even though we saw president trump while he was campaigning in georgia at that rally last night still claiming he could be the president, that
11:05 am
he won this election, there was something else she said in that interview that was interesting. she made an argument that people should vote to send senators david purdue and kelly lef -- loeffler back to the senate. >> you know, i appreciate the clarity you try to bring to these mixed messages, thank you very much. we're getting a new look at president-elect joe biden's cabinet so far. secretary of state, treasury secretary, and as we await news on the next top two elections a ta that biden will be making. what else is on his mind? >> they're pushing forward, of
11:06 am
course, on staffing. putting together that cabinet, and on the business of a transition. learning what the processes are in place so far. but also the biden transition having to chart their own bath on how to get that vaccine out of these bottles and into people's arms as people said earlier this week. trying to figure out the logistics of that and the financing and also pushing forward on the messaginmessagin. we know that means how did you get americans struggling with unemployment, because their businesses might be going through another round of shut down. that is something that biden said he supports but he views it as a down payment. if you listen to senator park warner, it is clear that democrats on the hill are also
11:07 am
viewing it as a down payment. he says okay, this is what the next round of spending will look like. listen to mark warner for a second. >> i think $908 billion for a targeted relief plan, a bridge to a biden administration, i think this is the direction that congress needs to move in. those that want the direct stimulus checks, that is something they grapple with. the unemployed workers, people that will be kicked out of their apartments, the small businesses, the restaurants that are struggling through as the weather gets colder. now alex, top democrats on the hill are leading these negotiations right now and they're being done with biden and his preferences in mind. when he was asked what he wants
11:08 am
to see we're also seeing a kind of way of prague matter -- as biden continues to put his team together, it is biden's health department in coming days. we have seen them come out on monday and tuesday. we'll see the doctor reprizing that role. he has been in biden's orbit now for many months, he is also now leading his covid task force. making sure that the perp that
11:09 am
fills the role is a person of color. we know that the virus has had disparities regarding race. a big push there from key democratic groups as they fry to put a person in that role as well. >> thank you very much. let's turn now to georgia where we're less than a month away from two critical senate runoffs. later today voters have a chance to see three of the four candidates in televised debates. it comes as the deadline to register to vote rapidly aroaching. shaq is joining us from atlanta. shaq i said three of the four candidates will be participating in the televised debates or commentaries, which one is not? >> senator david purdue. he was the only candidate not to accept the invitation to i did bait jon ossoff. you will likely see a discussion between the moderator and john
11:10 am
ossoff. that leaves a chance for debate. that will be followed by senator kelly loeffler. and as you mentioned all of this comes with key deadlines coming up here in the state of georgia. tomorrow is the voter registration deadline and a week later will be the start of early inperson voting here in the state. i'll tell you about the state farm arena. just like we saw ahead of election day. so that point you're hearing from republican officials in the state of georgia. now saying the misinformation is starting to have a negative impact. listen to what the lieutenant
11:11 am
governor said this morning. >> i'm worried that the fanning of the flames puts this into a tough position. the mountains of misinformation are not helping the process, only hurting it. >> you mentioned this already, but these two elections have national implications. they will have control over the senate chamber, but if democrats win that means that kamala lairs be the tie breaking vote in the senate. national implications. that explains hundreds of millions of dollars already being sent and that explains the big surrogates you see coming through. >> its also explains why we have you parked there my friend. joining me is beth fuy.
11:12 am
i'm going to start with you, jonathan, we have the president denying results more than a month after the election. a top georgia election official, a republican calling out the president today on today's "meet the press." >> the president's statements are false. there is misinformation. they're stoking anger and fear among supporters, and i voted for him. the situation is getting much worse. >> is there a way that you can logically interpret the president's on-going denial of the election results of reality? >> well, when it comes to president trump as president and private citizen, i think on top
11:13 am
of the incredible fundraising effort being put behind this, and the hundreds of millions that he is raising as a result of denies the election results in the last month, this is, and when you read the fine print how most of it will go to -- not to the georgia senate campaigns and not to anything else. he has legal fees. the new york times reported in the next four years about $400 million in debt is going to come due. from sources that but don't know about because the president of the united states refuses to release his tax returns. all he has to do is say release the returns and it could happen. so that's why i think we see this sort of -- on the one hand he is denies reality, but on the
11:14 am
other hand as i think it was joshua that reported that his press suck sar is out there talking about the potential of vice president being a tie vote. >> the president made tens of millions of dollars peddling a myth of voter fraud spp this an answer why he keeps going with the narrative? to keep money rolling in for the election legal battle? or for his own personal use in some way? we know that certain packs would allow him to do that. >> i agree with jonathan. there may be strategery going on here.
11:15 am
he is a no, sir sis who only cares about himself. his brand is "i'm a winner, i do everything great. i made more money, i'm more successful than anyone on the planet. this is a very bad way to support that motion into his only option is to suggest that the vote was rigged, it was all illegal. and he considered himself the president of his base. he doesn't think of himself as the president of the base. right now they don't want to believe that joe biden is going to be the next or more. he is going to convince name he is president or not. >> the way that he views and describes himself. how many people do you think still believe that.
11:16 am
do you even get a sense of people in their base. do even those in his base believe that about him? that he is the most successful? the most everything? >> that is how he came to political power and that is the way he will try to ride it out. he got $13 million more votes this time. he has a alarm number of supporters and a substantial chunk of them want to believe what he is telling them. they are basically ignoring covid. his country men, his citizens, and we are hearing him say do nothing to stem that. why does he want the job to badly that he is fighting so hard for when he is not executing what he needs to do when he has to help get this virus under control. >> with regard to the new york times article that we saw by
11:17 am
peter baker, that the president was depressioned, but he is not really doing the day to day work of the presidency. how concerning and how dangerous, even, is that? >> it is incredibly dangerous. the president of the united states they are giving up the job they were doing before election day. he spends his time still saying in office. it is incredibly dangerous that we have a president of the united states that is just denying it publicly. beth hit the nail on her head with her assessment of why the president is doing that. what message does the president send. that he has not had
