through it. and see that all the work that had been done on behalf of president trump, by those people, who were questioning, or concerned about the elections in 2020, that those cases were heard, and put to rest. that is why we felt we needed to do this. so that people could find this all easily in one place, and make a determination for themselves. that is what we are asking people to do. it's not that hard, and they can look through the different cases, as i said, i was able to look through them, and make sense of them. but you don't have to, look at the introduction, and the executive summary. you will have enough information to know, whether or not, you think this was a fairly -- we determine that it was. >> as we mentioned dave, right-wing media outlets continue to propagate false information, about the integrity of our election system. your former boss, as we mentioned was paul ryan. he is serving on the board of the parent company of fox.
4:13 am
if the intended audience for this report are fellow conservatives, if somebody like paul ryan has come forward, to disavow fox and the election lies, do you think that diminishes the purpose of the, mission behind why you guys did this report? >> i do not think so at all. the mission is, for everybody to be able to look at, this easily and quickly, and see, from people who believe like they do, and limited government. in freedom of religion, freedom of speech. and, equality of opportunity and prosperity for all. and believe in those things, and support people like ronald reagan, and the two bush presidencies. those people,, those people should look at this from the point of view of, that we have taken, which is to be open to all the case in arguments made, by the trump people. and see that in the end, they were not able to prove any of the questions that they raised. that is how our system works.
4:14 am
that is part of the reason we got together, to decide, let's look at these. let's do the work, to analyze these cases. and see whether they hold water or not. it was a preconceived idea as to what the answer would be. and having three, former circuit court judges, -- we have been with the type of people, who have experienced this, and have been looking at judicial cases. we felt that we had a group of people, who could appeal to conservatives, because we are all conservatives. and say, let's look at the evidence. it's important. also to run the election on ideas. i've worked for a number of years on the hill, and jack's view was always, elections are about the future. and about having better ideas. that is what we want to get back to. we've gotten much better ideas in the democrats, and we want to have the elections here in 2022, to be run on those ideas.

was headed. over the course of the past year, as you mentioned katie there have been 81 felonies wrought against alex murdaugh for financial crimes, even for drug dealing. i think a lot of people who would've been surprised a year ago, they are not terribly surprised when he was charged with the death of his wife and his son, paul, last week. >> valerie, this family has been involved with so many bizarre incidents. we literally don't have time to get all into them. that is why the book you are writing is gonna be such a great fine. what is the big picture here regarding the murdaugh family? >> the big picture is this is a family that has really exercised power in this part of the world, southeastern south carolina for more than 100 years. so alex murdaugh great grandfather, father, where prosecutors. he was an assistant and a part-time prosecutor himself, at a time in the rural south in this county where they live, for a long time there were only like two deputies, you know? one jailer.

the law was the murdaugh for's a five county region of south carolina. that is the type of generational power that is big in the south. exacerbated in the rural south. but it's not the only place where a family like this can exercise so much power over time. the bigger picture is really the unraveling. giving us a look at the way the power works in a small town and how it unwinds in such a spectacular, fantastical, and sad fashion. >> you talk about the power the influence of them are dogs. they have been, this generational power has been in existence for a while. multiple cases at this point have garnered a lot of national attention. you have done that deep dive into the facts. you know the details. it's there something though that has not been focused upon by the national media that you think is really missing attention? >> i think we will come to understand that, you know, it
4:47 am
is not just one family. but a family that has power that goes out into the judicial system, long forsman, we have seen already three alleged coconspirators be charged. the ceo of the local bank for example. a lawyer who was arranging, alleged to have arranged kickbacks in an appropriate way to alec murdaugh. we will begin to understand that it is not just a family, but the way, in the southeast weekday go along to get along, the way that things work sometimes. it will shed some light on that. >> almost like a cultural thing going on down in the south. the next steps, valerie, in this case are a bond in the murder charges. murdaugh we'll be in court for those charges this coming wednesday. what are you looking for? what do you expect to happen then on wednesday, and perhaps the long term for alec murdaugh? >> you mention katie that his lawyers have strenuously
4:48 am
asserted that he is innocent. he had nothing to do with the murders of maggie and paul. the state has jumped to conclusions here. they have not looked for any other suspects. we are looking for how hard his attorneys come out on this point. what's avid and, if any, bacon glean from the prosecutors in this hearing. i should say it's not clear whether alex murdaugh will come himself, or whether he will waive his right and let his lawyers come for him. that is also something to watch. >> valerie, quickly, do you predict there will be a trial? that there is going to be a trial, when all of the presentation of evidence against mr. murdaugh? >> alex's lawyers have asked for a speedy trial, actually. they would like a trial in 90 days. it's not going to happen but it is an aggressive timeline. one thing to look for in the fall, you mentioned the death of a friend of paul murdoch's, this friend mallory beach was killed in a horrific both crashed in 2019. the wrongful death case in that,
