tv The Reid Out MSNBC August 11, 2022 4:00pm-5:00pm PDT
4:00 pm
a final question for you tonight, merrick garland is telling donald trump to the side. should the warrant come out? should the content be released? you can tell me at ari melber on ins, you can find me at www. ari melber.com. you can tell it should the warrant come up out or not? that does it do not for us, the reidout starts now. tonight, on donald trump,
4:01 pm
first, i personally approve the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter. second, the department starts does not take and that decision lightly. >> donald trump could reveal the details of the fbi search right now. but he hasn't. i wonder why? the doj is moving to that information public. a new reporting on a subpoena from this for sensitive document the fbi believed trump still improperly holding on to lead new details on the armed man who tried to reach an fbi office in cincinnati this morning. guess what that suspect that was on january 6? we begin the read out tonight with the silence spoken i doj. after three days, allowing donald trump and his allies.
4:02 pm
the receipt, relating to this week, that search was belonging to the former president. >> that means the documents will likely become public which would provide a window into what investigators were looking for at the property and what time they believe may have been committed. as well as, what was actually collect it from trumps residents. those were given to trumps lawyer on monday and could of been released by trump at any point but he chose not to. the reason we will see those document, well we can think donald trump for that. >> the department filed the motion to make public the warrant in receipt and in light of the former presidents public confirmation of the search for the surrounding circle dances, and the substantial public interest in this matter.
4:03 pm
>> meaning donald trump remained quiet on this? we know we probably couldn't do. the documents would have remained sealed i we're longer. he basically told tonal truck, writing quote the former president should have an opportunity to respond to this motion and large objections including written legitimate privacy interest with a potential for other injury if these materials were made public. the federal judge who approved the search warrant has set a deadline of 3 pm tomorrow for trump to make any objections. trump tonight is continuing to say his team was cooperating fully and that the search happened out of nowhere. he did not indicate whether he intends to write the motion. garland also want when we made it clear that he personally approve the decision to seek the search warrant. he did not take the decision lightly.
4:04 pm
upholding the rule of law, it means applying the law evenly without fear or favor. under my watch, that is precisely what the justice department is doing. all americans are entitled to the evenhanded application of the law due process of the law, and to the presumption of innocence. >> just hours before garland spoke today, and armed suspect tried to breach the fbi field office lashing an ar 15 wire rifle and firing and nailed on at personnel before fleeing and engaging and an extended stand up, the suspect was eventually killed by police. let's bring in senior reporter ben collins with breaking news. then, this is disturbing. this scene is clearly connected to what happened on monday. what do we know about the man that attacked the fbi office in cincinnati right now? other than the fact that he is
4:05 pm
dead. >> reporter: it is clearly connected to what happened on monday and the words of the man who did the shooting. it's ricky schipper, he was at the capital and january 6. there were photos of them at the capital. that we know are him. i just want to read your post that a bit of a post that you posted after he tried to file fire a nail gun into the fbi field office but before he went into a cornfield and got into a shootout with police. he said, well i thought i had a way to bullet fruit proof glass, if you don't hear from me it's true, i try to attack fbi. but in the days before this a couple days ago, he was talking about how this is a call to arms and time to combat and no nonviolent solution to this and also in may, in areas responding to marjory taylor green, congresswoman green got
4:06 pm
away in plain sight, it's over, the next step is the one that we use in 1775. it is that sort of thing from this kind of guy that's what you are hearing all over the internet, the guy that went through with it and he was at the capitol on january 6. >> ben collins, thank you so much for that up date. the spring in cohost of the podcast, michael steele, former rnc chairman and the host of a steel podcast. and civil rights attorney former prosecutor msnbc legal analyst. i hope you get a podcast in. joel, i will start with you. this is disturbing. we have talked about the rising tide of white nationalist terrorism and we have talked about the danger that the republican organization has become as far as fostering this kind of behavior, what is your immediate reaction to the attempted terrorist attack on the fbi office in cincinnati? >> everything about it is
4:07 pm
terrifying. i feel i am no different than anybody else that we have reasonable grounds to be fearful of people who have serious weapons and are deluded into believing that the election was stolen. that there's a reason that they need to take a tax when in fact, if one pays attention to the facts, there's not a single shred of evidence or fact to support anything that donald trump probably has ever said, certainly has ever said in connection with january 6 or the search under a lawful warrant of his home. you said something i found very interesting which was about how this was the democrats were not responding, that garland had responded and trump could just say and it reminded me right there to the mueller investigation when bar made a press release and press conference, he took control, he said this says there's no
4:08 pm
collusion and no obstruction and in fact that's not what the report said. by the time people spoke out saying that wasn't true, the message had already been sent and first impressions are very hard to change. so definitely garland should be up more often. >> michael, one of the things that concerns me when we see this kind of attempted terrorist action is the way people are not just by donald trump, but other members, there's a tweet that we have now verified this guy was communicating with marjory taylor green. people are saying it's 1984 but it's more like 2016 and responding to her. this guy thinks that he is the winston smith of 1984, but the fact is a lot of guys like that. running around this country, talking openly and greatly about going to a local shop and picking up guns and attacking government officials.
4:09 pm
where do you think is the responsibility falls on the party or what passes as a party for republicans as far as censoring people who are in engagement with people who engage in this kind of a tivities? >> it falls squarely on the hands and the heads of the marjory taylor greens, the jim jordan's, josh hawley's, mitch mcconnell's, kevin mccarthys, the people who are leaders in the party. you have the title. right? this is happening on your watch. there were times that when, dumb stuff, i was national chairman. national chairman, right ? they would all my behind and play it in front of the public and expect me to respond and i stood up in the moment whether it someone doing something stupid with the credit cards or someone saying something crazy in the party. i stood up. and said no, that's
4:10 pm
not who we are. i'm sorry we're not talking about witches today, people, sorry, not what we're doing, that's not what the parties about. crickets. you hear nothing from these people. in the alternative, you hear the marjory taylor green out there egging it on. profiling further. and then one you it gets serious, they want to wash their hands, that's not what i meant, i can't help what people do, i'm not responsible, yes you are. because you are silence is acquiescence. you are passive encouragement and saying, we are the mag a party, when naga starts acting like maga, you are responsible for that, and more and more americans to hold them all accountable. there's an election coming up this november. these folks are on the ballot. in a lot of states for a lot of important offices.
4:11 pm
what the do you think next year is going to look like with mastery i know running the governorship and carry lake running it in arizona and you are going into the 2020 or cycle what do you think that looks like? >> >> i have to say, charles one of the things that gets me about this is, i have never been surprised last 25 years of my life at hypocrisy from the right in america, regardless of how the tidy title or not. what concerns me is how the events connect to the discussion we are having over the last several years, this guy tweeted on true social and other social media networks talking easily and laying out a game plan on how we he will get weapons and multiple attempts to attack a government agency. from your perspective and the legal perspective, what kinds of laws are we hearing about? what kind of laws that we talked about in a couple years that had have made it more
4:12 pm
difficult for him to do what he attempted to do today? that's my first concern, how do we stop the next crazy guy from trying to attack government officials? >> first of all, i want you to know that podcast is coming and i will be looking to be among the my first guest for conversation. that being said, i think what we have seen lately is a significant amount of pressure being played on social media platforms to actually use the trigger that in place and report to the fbi and law enforcement agencies earlier, a lot of conversation about the failures of social media actually adhere to those terms and conditions. the ones that are published in the ones who are using the platforms agree to when they sign up. you cannot post these sorts of things where you are advocating or talking about committing violence at ken's other people, against politicians, against alec did officials because that information as to be reported. what we need is a better be
4:13 pm
strong, people requiring social media platforms to live up to what it is they said they are going to do to make sure that when illegal activity being plan right in front of their faces, that the do something about it and turn that information over to the proper law enforcement. >> gel, we will turn out to mayor garland. he starts of saying, look, i am concerned about the rhetoric i've been hearing, it endangers the men and women who are simply doing their job of keeping the country safe and by the way, donald trump, i am calling your bluff. just from a legal strategy standpoint, how likely is it that donald trump and his legal team will actually say, fine, we don't want these documents to be made public. you think there's any chance of that occurring or do they allow them to become public and basically lie about what they have to do about that reaction as well? >> well, it's hard to predict
4:14 pm
what donald trump or any of his lawyers will do because they have not acted always in what i consider to be ethical or reasonable ways. so i don't want to really predict that. but i want to say on the other hand, the department of justice was brilliant in its strategy, they did call is loved by waiting for him to open his mouth and say, hey, this is what happened and here's my view of it. that opened the door for them to legitimately go to court and say, look, he waived his right of privacy. we would not have revealed this. but he already had. and he is setting a false narrative and we have a right now to reveal this, the public interest outweighs his right of privacy. and i think they will prevail on that. they also said okay, we will give you time before we release this, give you time to answer. so they did call his bluff and they are now in a hard position of having to say no, we want to
4:15 pm
hide this. or they are going to have to be revealed and that way, the department of justice can take back control of the narrative. i think the narrative is going to show that he has had many documents that are highly classified that you should never have taken out of the white house ever out of the white house. even if those documents are not highly classified, they are government governments and it is still illegal, period. it is a violation of law. much more dangerous to national security if they were highly classified. doesn't matter if it's documents, papers, posted notes or staplers, if it's not yours, if it says federal government, you are not suppose to take it when your job is over. this is my question, any of these discussion about narrative, michael you know this better than most, does the narrative actually change, the fact the matter is, the hard right of they have their own ecosystem, their own keep cable network or it with blogs or
4:16 pm
with places on the internet, far hidden corners, they don't hear anything else. so does this change the narrative? who is this play actually for? i don't see anybody who is in naga world being affected by fax. >> you're right. this is not for maga world, this is the rest of the america, for americans who for good bad or whatever reason, have a question about this process. don't fully understand it necessarily. you have trump coming out and creating a story before we know , the facts. before we know what happened. he is already telling us what happened. which is what we saw layout with mueller. he was aided by attorney general and came out and came out with a report before it was delivered. that was what this effort was all about. the difference is all of a sudden now, they were okay, you
4:17 pm
want to open up the door to my counselors point, yeah, okay, here it is. we want to put it out, here you are so that we can tell the narrative the way it actually and holded this is for the americans out there who don't understand what this process is. it is already happening, jason, right now as we speak, there's already signs that trump margot world is coming out and preparing to say, you know what, trump doesn't have to show this, we don't need to see this, we just want to know what the process was, we don't really care about the document because they know. they know. what those documents are going to say. >> charles, i want to ask you a quick legal question, we know the narrative, we know why trump might or might not do things. i want you to put yourself in a mindset mindset, place yourself in the mindset.
4:18 pm
if you are trying, making the argument 14 trump to not have this released, what would your argument be? there may be some documents that are the public interest but also personal family pictures, what would be the legal argument be that team trump would have to justify not have this to the public? >> trump has put in himself in a difficult position because of the talking he has already done. at this point, what you said already is exactly right, you argue that the documents that were received, personal items that were an unfair intrusion in your privacy and hope that even though you have already talked and open the door, that there's still enough in terms of your public interest that you want withheld. >> my guests are staying with me and up next, new reporting on what led up to this week's f vi surge of mar-a-lago. including a subpoena of trump that he received this spring.
4:19 pm

subpoena this spring to turn over classified documents they thought i'd still be at mar-a- lago. documents trump's legal team discussed with doj officials on june 3rd. according to a source, that meeting was arranged with the trump team understanding that turning over relevant document that day will fulfill the subpoena. not clear exactly what was turned over, but this week search indicates that it wasn't everything the doj was asking her. in fact, the "new york times" reports that two people that investigators believe were may indicated they were so sensitive and related to national security that the justice department had to act. back with me are joe one bags, michael steele and charles coleman. jill, i will start with this, the part that gets me in all of this. we have all been late on a bill or library book and they send the first letter and then they send a second letter that you
4:25 pm
can see through the plastic and you get a phone call, what on earth do you think the trump legal team could have been thinking? is there something else they could have done other than turning out the paper they thought it eventually would get search? >> it is incredible to me to think that they were thinking. that's the first part of it because it's so obvious that in this process, there was enough time for them to realize that they were caught. that there was knowledge they had not turned over everything. and they would given opportunities, a subpoena is not a search warrant. you still have time. there was conversation. someone went there in june. and still they refused to turn it over. which raises a question about what could be in those documents. why did day, one thing to say i made a mistake, packing up in a fast way and i did not to take them. now you know you have them. why would you keep on holding a?
4:26 pm
i had a clearance that was so high that i can't tell you the name of my classification level because that's classified. if these documents were in that category, it is a risk to national security. remember, this was in an unlocked basement, they added the padlock after the fbi was there. so anyone, a guest in the hotel could have gone in there. someone playing golf could've gone in there. the staff of the place, of mar- a-lago could have gone in there. so it was really at risk. there could've been a foreign country. it really a serious thing and i think people think need to take it much more seriously than they are taking it. >> the danger that and at some point, anybody could have stumbled into it somebody could have been looking for other papers and national security secrets, because the president refused to turn the documents over. i have a sound from laura trump
4:27 pm
talking about darlene's comment today, i want to get your thoughts on the other side. >> i'm kind of shocked to tell you the truth that it took three days for him to give us no information. a lot of americans were looking for something, anything that they could look to from the attorney general that would reassure them that this was not a political attack that they don't have to be worried that they were overly aggressive. wrecking into the home and raiding the home of a former president of the united states. that is a very big deal. >> charles, now that we have this additional information, we know that they did not break into the formal president's home, they did not kick down the door, nothing like that. he was given plenty of warnings before hand. my question for you legally is, when you hear these kinds of characterizations from trump's surrogates, is that something that could potentially land them in legal hot water? if you keep characterizing
4:28 pm
legal action as crimes that they were not, is that something the department of justice could litigant and could that be an obstruction of an investigation if people are mischaracterization highly previewed? >> generally, jason, the answer will be no, unless what we see from those essential lies if you know that they are untrue, and up resulting in further action, like january 6, if you continue to push conspiracy and a lie knowing it's not true and there are action criminal actions that as a result, then yes, we are in a different category. say anything peddling the lies by itself not likely very much to draw very much interest from the doj but depends on where they go. it's important that people understand, don't get it confused, regardless of what you thought, i am not a short order cook, i am an executive chef and you will get the meal
4:29 pm
when it's ready and that's what you let - - at the fbi have done such a good job of moving forward and doing things ridiculously and strategically and methodically and it's important for people to understand, merrick garland is a former federal judge. he has what you call judicial temperament, he knows how to do these things by the book. you best believe that when he's executing the search warrants and moving forward to sign a search warrant, in terms of being presented in front of it judge, just really about the protection of his own staff for this narrative that has become twisted from the right and those who want to make it a political thing because trust and believe that this man is already done everything that's necessary in order to make sure that the execution of this warranty starting with the subpoena and then moving forward has all been completed by the book. >> michael, one of the things
4:30 pm
that we know about the trump organization and trump himself is he is obviously free out. oh, there's somebody that ratted me out and have given this information i want to play this sound today talking about what the possibilities are and how the fbi could have known specifically what was still at the residence. >> how close do you think that person in trump's orbit with the and have to be to know that the details about the document work? >> that's a good question, i did not even know there was a fit mar-a-lago and i was a chief of staff for 50 ms. this is somebody handling things they today who knew where documents were in somebody really close inside the president ends i guess six or eight people had that kind of information. >> here's the thing, michael, i'm sure donald trump was already paranoid guy. if he can line up all the friends and family and walk around with a baseball bat say which of you betrayed me, i'm sure he would. fact of the matter is you have
4:31 pm
multiple people in investigation right now, many of them have a reason an incentive to possibly be the snitch. do you think this is indicative of maybe just one person revealing, that's where the information is and this might've been confirmed by multiple sources before the fbi took action? >> i am in the multiple sources camp because of the narrowness of the folks who are around trump. and having spent some time with the man in the past, having a sense of how we operationalize is things. it is a very close quarters. people talk. in those circles. people here and they over here. it's a matter of connecting the dots and relaying the information out and painting the picture. i think for a lot of different reasons, it's probably not just one person who made the call. because in one sense that could
4:32 pm
be one easily tracked and traced. that is how you come that person very carefully, either placed information out in the street. knowing that it would work its way to that person who would then place the information over there. and that is the thing about the trump world. the thieves in the foot the hoodlums and they all rat each other out. because the did not give a - - about them. if you have the feds coming out after you and you have investigations into states and you have a commission on capitol hill coming at you, yeah, everything everybody will have something to say at some point. >> there's a lot of people squealing in trump's world right now. thank you all so much. still ahead, five years after that infamous march in charlottesville, right wing threat and violence only

non-gaming tribes have been left in the dust. wealthy tribes with big casinos make billions, while small tribes struggle in poverty. prop 27 is a game changer. 27 taxes and regulates online sports betting to fund permanent solution to homelessness. while helping every tribe in california. so who's attacking prop 27? wealthy casino tribes who want all the money for themselves support small tribes, address homelessness. vote yes on 27. today marks five years since our most recent and very public look at american right wing racism and fascism. tonight, the night of august 11, for an event they called united

unite the right. it. they carried tiki choices and chanted -- will not replace us, marching across the university's campus. the next day, they violently clashed with counter protesters, the young woman was murdered when a white nationalist plowed his car into a crowd. that open display of right-wing fury was an early sign of a violent ray that metastasized. now with the former president supporters looking for someone to blame, with a search of his for the compound, that thread of right-wing violence has burst into the open once again. this week, the top comic in the pro trump site, simply said lock and load. while they advocated for civil war. the judge will authorize the search at mar-a-lago. buys reports that right-wing
4:39 pm
extremists up targeted that judge with anti-semitic attacks and then sharing of personal information. republican politicians also spread lies and misinformation about the fbi agents who conducted the search like steve scalise, the number two republican in the house. >> we are very strong and supporters of law enforcement and a concerns everybody for if you see some agents go rogue and if you see an agent that doesn't have their right checks and balances at the top. this is coming >> who went rogue? they were following the search warrant. >> you want to find that out and that's why we're asking is. >> today attorney general merrick garland defended the fbi's against those attacks that the arm suspect that tried to reach a field office was engaged in a standoff with police. then collins reports that the suspect is identified as ricky schiffer appeared to post online to kill fbi agents after the
4:40 pm
former presidents compound was searched. nbc news learned that he was at the capitol on january 6. the motive in today's incident remains specially under investigation, joining me now is congress congressman eric swalwell. congressman swalwell, always good to have you on. one of the things that you have always been candid about, and always appreciated, you talked about it didn't just start outside of congress, but occurs inside congress now because you have fellow members who are in college and this kind of members and run campaign ads who basically say every single day, hey, i would kill my colleagues if i could. from your perspective, when days like this happen, when you have a would-be terrorist attack the fbi office in cincinnati after having a conversation with marjorie taylor greene, how does it feel going back to work, how do you feel the next time you go back to congress
4:41 pm
that you have colleagues who encourage violent terrorist? >> it's sickening where we have arrived, we is to say, somebody's going to get killed, well people died on january 6th. and today, when it's just most intolerable is in the last 48 hours since the fbi search donald trump's home, you can draw directly from what kevin mccarthy, steve scalise, marjorie taylor greene, lindsey graham all said, threats against law enforcement the lies that they told about law- enforcement and what these individuals foisted online before he took up arms against the fbi and it's a little personal for me because i have two brothers who are law enforcement officers and we know , these guys are not geniuses, they are targeting law enforcement so they have a lot of people, wearing the uniform
4:42 pm
who are sitting ducks right now. someone is fired up and being told by kevin mccarthy that these folks are going rogue are these folks are - - not like they're going to look for fbi agents, they will go after any law enforcement officer they see. so they are at risk. this party by the way you told us for so long that they back the blue and they want to defund the police, the when you talk like this it doesn't sound like you are pro-cop. sounds like you are pro-coup. >> congressman, one of the things that i appreciate about you and i follow you on twitter. you're also very candid about how this violence affects you personally. we appreciate the fact that i will place a sound that you revealed from some of the calls that you get. >> first of all, i want to say not me, but i hope someone cuts that throat from ear to ear, cut his head off, swalwell is a worthless cut his wife's head
4:43 pm
off and his kids heads off. i don't give a. >> i get a lot of difficult emails and phone calls. the congressman, i've never ever had as a black man on television have never received a tractor direct threat. how are you and in second, how common are these kinds of threats and attacks and do you have heightened security at your job in congress after getting these kinds of messages? >> i do everything i can to protect my three little kids and my wife. they should not have to live in fear because their husband or their father works in public service. and has spoken out against the former president. what i'm not going to stop speaking out. that's why i post these messages because if these are going to intimidate me, they are not. if you think you're going to intimidate my colleagues in the fbi and, i put those out there
4:44 pm
to show that i am not going to be intimidated and number two, there's a correlation when american leaders stoke these conspiracy theories that these folks receive it as a gospel and think they it is their duty to take up arms and people have been killed and where people are going to get killed until the lies stopped. starting with the bigeye donald trump is gone after the election and now the new life about the fbi search. by the way, jason, is your calling me and threatening to kill my family and often times i get these calls around my position on gun safety legislation, you have proven to me and the world why we need to be more scrutinizing about going for firearms. >> i want to ask, president biden launched his campaign talking about how we need to recapture the soul of america.
4:45 pm
he can have policy discussions at any time, but from a character's standpoint, from a modeling standpoint, from a rhetorical immoral center standpoint, how good a job you think he has been a leader and countering this white nationalist violent insurgency in this country question you think the president has been a good moral that we can focus on it this time? >> yes and the best example i can give you is that yesterday, i was at the white house and the president signed the pack act, for veterans who are exposed, like his son who died from cancer. seated to my left was a congressman from pennsylvania who the day before was a donald trump at bedminster to show solidarity after the fbi search. so talk about uniting the country. this person is working with donald trump to try and defeat joe biden and yes yet at the white house because he brought republicans and democrats together. yes, through the bipartisan bill and gun safety
4:46 pm

reporting on those missing secret service text messages that the january six committee is still looking for. according to the guardian, top career officials and the dhs inspector generals office have prepared memo for congress back in april alerting them of a loss text and consequent -- and the consequence construction of the secret service. however, the guardian reports that the inspector general trump appointee joseph cuffari withheld that notification from congress, possibly violating federal disclosure requirements. in july, the -- key secret service messages all before january 6th were deleted. he failed to disclose to congress that his office knew about the deleted emails since last december. a spokesperson for the secret service claim that this was all part of a long planned system migration. the inspector general has opened a criminal investigation into the missing secret service
4:52 pm
text. some democrats are dubious of the investigation, including the inspector generals last lack of transparency. we by the national press club. congratulations. that was just announced today. hugo, let us just break this down. first off, what's actually is it that people are asking of could fiery that he has not done? what is that he supposedly should've done before and should be doing now that he has not done? >> the inspector general act is actually very clear. if there is an instance of obstruction or resistance, or even a significant delay of release of information to an inspector general, they are supposed to report that, rather to congress or another oversight body. and in this instance, top career officials at the dhs we're having a difficulty getting the secret service to give up their text messages.
4:53 pm
so, in anticipation of previous report to congress, they put this all in a bmo and they sent it off to the chief of staff to cuffari. and when they expected to see it in the report, and never arrived. and when they went back and looked, they found that the memo had died when it reached the chief of staff to cuffari. so i think there is a whole new set of eminence here to suggest that could ferry and political appointees and the top of security at the inspector generals office interfered with this notification. >> hugo, if i just ran through cuffari's resume, this guy was appointed by trump in 2018, he lied about having a ph.d. in philosophy, he helped suppress information about family separation under the trump administration. their members of congress that have been calling for him to be removed. why is this guy even -- why does he have the job? why wouldn't an administration invest in an attempted coup keep the and specter general, from the former president, to
4:54 pm
who initiate to the coup? >> the only person who could remove cuffari's president biden. and the reason why he has not moved on this is probably because he's, when he was on the campaign trail, he made this promise about we -- repeatedly removed inspectors generals for political reasons. in this case, it seems to be potentially warranted because cuffari is withholding things from congress that he should be reporting, and this appears to be a performance issue, rather than a political issue. but that is under joe biden, and no one else can answer to that. >> so these text messages, i just want to get to this clearly, the text messages are important to the january 6th committee, why specifically? one, are they primarily concerned with people who are working in the coup in the secret service? are they trying to find out to what almost happened to mike
4:55 pm
pence? do they think that it's connected to other potential crimes? what do you think is the key thing that the january six committee wants to know from these missing text messages? >> i spoke to a couple of sources on the committee, and one of the things they are really looking at is what the secret service was planning with respect to moving trump and pence on january 6th. because we know, through alex jones and the far-right activists, that they were going around saying secret service are telling us to lead and watch the capital. if that really is true, that probably would've been sanctioned by anyone other than trump, and the secret service would need to know that. the question is, was this an actual thing? was there any cooperation between the far-right activists in the white house, and potentially the secret service? and the january six seems to think that if there's any way to get to the bottom of that, the text messages maybe cast a light on that route. so they're trying to find out now if they can retrieve the text messages. and -- twice i'm told to try to take
