-- americans deserve more. americans deserve more >> good evening and welcome to politicsnation. tonight's lead, a reason to believe. right now democrats conditioned to expect big losses an upcoming midterm races appear to be evening the score with republicans and by score i mean the perceptible passion and american voters are carrying into november. brand new national polling from nbc news this weekend showing
2:01 pm
that democrats have closed the enthusiasm gap with voters less than three months before they cast their ballots. 66% of democrats expressing a high level of interest in midterm races compared to 68% of republicans with the surge of the democratic side attributed at least in part to anger over the supreme courts reversal of roe v. wade, also factoring in to the midterm picture. the web of investigation that appears to be tightening around former president donald trump. nearly three and five americans pulled by nbc news saying that those investigations into trump's alleged wrongdoing should continue after the fbi raid of the florida estate. and the revelation that it was

related to possible espionage violations. of course, all of this new data is about to be field tested in a pair of state primaries tuesday. when in florida, when in new york, whose base comes out more energized ahead of november. we will be watching. alaska not one, but two state wide candidates in trump racist tonight. but first, as always, the perfect guest, joining me now is jaime harrison, chair of the democratic national committee. mr. harrison, thank you for being with us tonight and i want to start off with the new nbc poll data. democrats and republicans are essentially tied over voter enthusiasm. as the dnc chair, i would imagine you are pleased to see that, yet despite the --
2:03 pm
on enthusiasm, president biden's approval ratings remain low at 47% of registered voters wanting republicans to take control of congress, versus 45% who won democrats in charge according to the same nbc poll. that's despite congressional republicans going against lower cost for prescription drugs. it gets the federal right to birth control and continuing to back former sitting president who's proximity to several state and federal investigations. your response, mister chair? >> rev, thank you for having me. listen, i have said this once, i have said this twice i will say the thousand times more between now and november. never bet against joe biden and democrats when it comes to delivering for the american people. regardless of with the polls say, when you take a look at
2:04 pm
with joe biden, kamala harris and with the democrats have been able to do in the last two years, and you put in the historic perspective, it's nothing short of amazing. it's about delivering for the american people. think about what they have accomplished so far, in this will be the message that we put out there across the country. you start off with the american rescue plan, which really saved so many businesses. historically, like colleges, institutions, cities. it started with a bipartisan infrastructure law. even with that we had 200 republicans in the house who voted no. we just recently got passed this inflation reduction act. not one republican voted for it in either in the house and senate, and this bill is a game-changer in terms of the impact that it will have on the climate. the impact that it will have on prescription drugs along. medicare for the first time, to negotiate the price of prescription drugs.

2:07 pm
about that. a bill to help veterans who were impacted by these chemicals in some of these pits. you've got a republican party voting against that. you've got a republican party voting against gun safety bills. violence against women act. they see the extremism and they're starting to come back home. the momentum is on the democrats side. we're seeing the president numbers creep up as well. that is what we want to see at this point as people start to wake up and realize what's going on. and the democratic party, the dnc, just as we grabbed put a seven -- millions of dollars if you put it that way, on tv, on radio, in print, to make sure that the message is getting out of the american people about how joe biden and the democrats have delivered for them in the republican league -- >> we have a handful of nominated continents during primaries in two states.
2:08 pm
tuesday, new york. what are your expectations and how will you gauge the two that are left and moving forward beyond tuesday? >> we will continue to look at the trends. we saw what happened in kansas. that's not a traditional democratic state. but overwhelmingly, women and men, republicans and democrats stood up and said we are tired of the extremism of the republican party as it relates to the issue of abortion and women's right to control their own bodies. this is about taking away the freedom of women in this country. for the first time in 50 years, we are retracting our freedoms in america. it's unheard of. but it's led by the republican party. we're going to continue to look at those trends. learn from that and the right language is. make sure we put that language and our messages and outreach efforts. i feel really really good about
2:09 pm
where we are right now. we've got some amazing senate candidates, while mitch mcconnell was talking about the deads that he has in his party right now. we see the same type of duds in the republican side in the -- we're going to continue to put the message out for the great candidates that we have and in the end, i think we're going to buck history just like we did in 2020. >> let me ask you this. we're out of time, mister chairman. president biden and congressional democrats have strong together some big wins in recent weeks. big winds. that's the most visible, being the passage and signing of the inflation reduction act, but some strategists have cast -- has given the party something to run on as the primary season gives way to the general election campaign. that and of course donald trump's escalating -- trump aside, what are the democrats biggest selling points with less than three months to go? you've always shot street with
2:10 pm
me, even before you were chairman. what are the selling points? frankly, as one who has our always held everybody accountable, think that biden is doing a lot more than i expected, what is the selling point you're going to give to the public? >> the selling point is this, rev. with a 50/50 senate and sometimes less than a five seat majority in the house, joe biden and the democrats have delivered one of the strongest economies we have seen in american history. they've delivered real climate change. historic. no other country in the world has done what we just did in the inflation reduction act to bring down emissions. we have seen record unemployment, record job creation. we have helped make sure that american jobs are still there. bottom line is this. democrats have delivered for the american people, and there's so much more that we can do, and that's why we need a few more votes in the united states senate and we need to keep the house and we need to make sure that we pick up state
2:11 pm
houses and -- and send back some of these folks who don't believe in one person, one vote, on the republican side. if we do that, america will continue to progress. otherwise we give jim jordan and kevin mccarthy, and a bunch of the clowns on the republican side an opportunity to put this country in the ditch. we cannot allow that to happen. >> all right, there's a lot at stake. thank you, chairman jaime harrison of the dnc. from a national point of view to a local one. joining me now is charles booker, democratic candidate for senator of kentucky. thank you for coming on today mr. booker. and for joining us. okeryou've recently made histors the first black nominee in a federal election in the state of kentucky. as you know, the states democratic candidate for u.s.
