on the calendar. we have a sneak peek at the upcoming action. i'm ayman mckee dna, let's get started. it is the never ending october surprise. herschel walker's senate campaign continues to plunge ever deeper into turmoil. in 1:24 appeared alone, the walker campaign fired's political director, according to cnn, and then the new york times reporter reported that the same woman back in 2009 also lights that walker urged her to terminate second pregnancy two years later. herschel walker has denied it allegations that he has never paid or pressured a woman to have an abortion. the woman whose account first appeared has receipts. i mean literal receipts that

seemingly contradict walkers denial. you should know, msnbc's hasn't independently verify those documents. just for a second, look, if these allegations are true, walker's apoxsee is quite obvious. there's one rule for him, another for everyone else. but it is more than that. republicans response to this walker news illustrates a much deeper cancer that is been factoring the party. that is their religious hypocrisy. i want to pause here for a moment. look, we are not trying to demonize some of these actions as the right routinely test everyone else. be proportion isn't a problem unless you are forcing a woman to get an abortion. at the same time, the right routinely demonizes personal social issues in this country. you can condemn abortion in the lgbtq community, and then be surprised when the news media

focuses on gop candidates who talked the talk, but don't walk the black. that brings me back to herschel walker. despite all of the scandals that he has hissed, his christian fans have remained unfazed. one georgia pastor told politico that the dome is, do you bring a candid that is perfect or do you take what is given to you and make the choice between the options? my main did we forget that there is another option here? georgia's current senator, he is an actual reverend. he's a man who has studied and taught christianity quite literally preaching what these conservatives pretend to practice. still, herschel walker believes he has the higher moral ground in this race. >> dishonest campaign. perfect for washington. tell my full story, marchers

story. everyone knows i had a real battle with mental health. iv wrote a book about it. by the grace of god, i overcame it. doesn't have the truth, he doesn't believe in redemption. i'm herschel rock or. i prove this message. >> all right. let's just note here for second, that book, herschel walker just mentioned, the one about overcoming his statements by the grace of god, that came one year before walker lsu lee pay for alums abortion in 2009. the republicans -- are still choosing walker over raphael warnock for one reason and one reason alone. walker has an are next to his name. republicans branded themselves the arbiters of religion and morality in america. back in the 70s, christian wright labeled themselves the moral majority.
6:04 pm
in the 1990s, they promoted the idea of a moral leadership. as well now and will well now, the morality arguments, that was seated when, excuse me, white evangelicals voted donald trump into the white house. that is why it's not surprising to see this support for walker or the continued support for ron desantis which is migrants with cruelty. to score political points. look, be religious, don't be religious. we're not making an argument about that. let's be clear. what we are seeing here is if you claim to be religious, if you literally claim to be holier than thou and yet you support liars, cheaters, abusers, people who are crawls others and people who do things that go against the tenants of your religion, that is the problem. don't hide behind religion to
6:05 pm
defend your erroneous believes. don't have behead religion when you support one of the worst senate candidates in a generation. i wanted to it. then take a look in the mirror. let's discuss this with our saturday night correspondents for politico and msnbc contributor. a pollster and analyst and brittany cunningham is back with us. i'll start with you. first, i want to get your reaction to this new york times that walker pressured his girlfriend to have a second abortion, after she refused. alleges that walker is barely involved and his sons, i guess ten years old, son's life. >> ayman i'm shocked, absolutely shocked that there is such stark rip out -- you laid it out beautifully in

6:07 pm
doesn't surprise. it speaks to the gop is today. it is a party that worships one thing and one thing only and that is power. >> politico has reported that walker's team knew about the allegation months before it surfaced but hope that it would come out before the election. that does not seem like a solid political strategy now, does it? >> no. not now. it's come out over and over and it's been show after shoe that's trapped. it's gone from the daily beast to the record over the new york times. something, i'm in atlanta right now working on some stories. talking to people to figure out if this is something that most changes are both. i have mitch edge and by one person that says it changes their vote. what that tells us is that one, peoples minds are made up. four weeks away. partisanship, as you're saying, ayman, is above all else at

anything but. i want to be clear here. not only am i a political progressive, i'm the daughter of a black baptist pastor theologian and black ordained baptist minister. when i'm clear about is that the greatest hypocrisy of the gop is not just exhibited herschel walker or donald trump, it's exhibited standing in the way a fits of mother and children. it standing in the way of the ability for queer children to have free and reduced lunch. a senate in the way of pay prettily bend affordable childcare. there are so many ways in which the gop has policies, your specter of the rhetoric, has policies that stand oppositional to who and what jesus stood for. we have to reckon with all of it at not just one particular candidate in georgia. if it's enough to think a candidate they would be barely any republicans and congress. but there are. we know we have to get beyond

calling out hypocrisy the moment and push voters to recognize that this is not going to be enough to stop him or to stop this party. the voters are going to have to get out and say enough is enough. not just because of how you behaved, but how you legislate. time is passed for the gop to continue to stand in the way of our rights. i guarantee you, that's not what jesus would do. >> let me play for you a few of the republicans condemning herschel walker had to say. listen to this. >> i think this is part of the donald trump hangover. we can never get this place again as republicans. this is a horrible place to be, not just in georgia, but another press of the country. that should be a layup present has in the senate. i think we should be tracking 2024 to be able to step up to the plate and put a president forward, our president nominate republican. we continue to deal with donald trump. >> brittani, to still think
6:12 pm
