is up for grabs days after the midterm elections. right now, the senate sense at 49 to 49 with two key races undecided. late last night here, arizona nbc news officially projected democratic senator, mark kelly, won reelection over republican, blake masters. moments ago, kelly spoke at a victory rally, saying, it is time to all come together. >> the way these southeast problems is not by pointing fingers. it is not by dividing people. it is by listening and finding common ground. and as we see the results here in arizona and across the country this week, no one party has a monopoly on good ideas or the support of voters. but i have seen that when we seek to represent everyone, not just the people who voted for us, we are capable of extraordinary things. >> two races will now determine

who controls the senate. first, we have nevada, where a call could commit soon as this afternoon. democratic senator, catherine cortez masto, trails republican challenger, adam laxalt, by about 800,000 votes. georgia's senate race is headed to a december 6th runoff between democratic incumbent, raphael warnock, and republican, herschel walker. at this point, in order to take control of the senate, republicans would need to win both georgia and nevada. democrats only need to win one of those seats to maintain control, but vice president kamala harris is the tie breaking vote. as she has been the last two years. meanwhile, control of the house is also undecided today with 22 races uncalled. democrats need to win 15 of them to take control. republican state just seven. nbc news currently projects republicans taking a majority 220 seats. you see there to the democrats 215. that is within the margin of error. last hour, democratic congressman, natalie dean, gave me her reaction as we wait for a winner.

>> it is important that every vote count. we know in georgia, we are headed to a runoff. so, i'm patient, believing that every vote should count and believing that what it really reveals is there was no red wave. democrats did extraordinarily well. >> meanwhile, as some republicans point fingers that former president trump over the parties underwhelming performance, it's apparently not keeping him from announcing another white house run. >> going to announce on to say that he's running for president and it's going to be very professional, very buttoned up announcement. -- on the golf course and talked about tuesday's focus he said, look, there doesn't need to be any question. of course i'm running, i'm going to do this. and i want to make sure the people know that i'm fired up and we have to get the country back on track. >> reporting for us now, nbc's stephanie gostin north las vegas. vaughn hillyard is in phoenix and antonio hilton's standing by in atlanta for us.

welcome all, let's go for so you, von with that mark kelly victory rally happened last hour. we could not even hear you, the music was allowed. so, certainly there celebrating going on. but let's also talk about the tenor of things as we await the results in the arizona governor's race. >> right, look, republicans nash nationally thought the issues were on their side from inflation to the border situation, to the fact that president biden had slumping poll numbers heading into this november election. and yet, what you've seen around the country, including here in arizona, what's voters rejecting these republican candidates from these you at senate seats. here in arizona, this race being called in favor mark kelly last night and i asked him specific question just a few moments ago, was this a symptom of voters rejecting trumpism or here in the state of arizona, in which voters, for the third election cycle in a row, selected a democrat to serve them up on capitol hill. which one was it more? and his answer was pretty
10:06 am
straightforward. that it was a matter of voters in the state wanting individuals to get along and try to find out solutions. and he hit sort of that sentiment when talking about the former republican senator here, late senator john mccain, who used to serve in the seat that he will now serve a full term in. take a listen. >> for the past two years, as we face these challenges, there has not been a day, not a day has gone by where i have not remembered that i am sitting in the senate seat of senator john mccain. senator mccain embodies everything it was to be a leader. and at a time when our state and our country remain divided, his legacy, his legacy of building bridges and focusing on arizona is an example of what we all should do and what we should look to. >> on the campaign trail, alex,
10:07 am
that message resonated and it's what he contends the type of role that he intends to play up on capitol hill. again, in 2020, he won initially and what was that special senate election to fill the remaining two years of john mccain's term. and now the, he will be serving a full six years and democrats, they're looking for just one more senate seat to hold on to the senate majority, alex. >> -- senator john mccain certainly a favor of arizona. let me ask, you vaughn, when we will have the results for the governor's race. >> we are going to be expecting in about the nine, ten, 11 pm eastern hour tonight. another batch of several tens of thousands of ballots out of maricopa county here. those ballots, again, could provide us an idea of where this election is heading. that has been the case the last several nights, but it has not been defining enough for us to call that race here. katie hobbs expanded her lead last night in order to change the course and the trend line here. kari lake meets with this batch of ballots drop tonight, needs to cut into katie hobbs's lead right now or else is going to

be a very difficult for her over these next coming days. alex? >> talk about a nail-biter, von. thank you for being on watch. let's go now to nbc stephanie gosk, standing by in north las vegas force. stephanie, welcome again. what are you seeing there as we await an update soon from the elections officials? >> yeah, we are going to get another press conference, which is what they've been doing basically every afternoon. these press conferences have not been especially illuminating, alex. but they do give us some sense of the numbers and what we're looking to hear today from joe gloria is whether or not they really are going to finish here in clark county, the largest county in the state, with more than 70% of the population. whether they are going to finish the majority of those mail-in ballots today. now, he told me in the press conference yesterday that as soon as they wrapped up, they are going to get those results in. so, while we've been getting these vote dumps every evening from clark county, he did suggest that if they finish earlier, we can get those results earlier. and right now, this race is as

close as it possibly could be with the difference between adam laxalt, who has a slight lead, less than 1000 votes to cortez masto. now, in the last hour, adam laxalt has actually posted on social media. he acknowledged that the math, really, and what he said, looking at these votes tonight, he said, if they are gop precincts, or slightly damp leading, then we can still win. if they continue to trend heavy damn, then she will overtake us. what is interesting about this is, one, he's acknowledged the math is not in his favor. but also, you may remember that adam laxalt headed up trump's challenge to the presidential election results two years ago. what you don't have here is a criticism of the process in nevada. at least not yet, alex. >> i was going to say, he's not taking an apparent page out of the trump playbook. again, that he headed up. so, that it's good. let's just say that for this point. stephanie gosk, thank you. let's go from there now to

atlanta and nbc's antonia hylton standing by. so antonio, let's talk about warnock and walker, and how they're gearing up for their big runoff in three weeks and two days. but who's counting? >> who's counting? i think most of the country, alex, right now. but the good news is this runoff is shorter than the last one. it's under four weeks, as you just mentioned. and no newly registered voters are going to be able to take part, which means both candidates are really going back and have to fire up the base of people who just cast a vote for them and make sure they cast that vote one more time. and hopefully bring some extra people along with them. both campaigns have already kind of hit the road, so first we saw raphael warnock, the democratic senator, host an event in atlanta where he spelled out a new message, one of unity, one of trying to reach people in the middle. he kind of described this as a race that's going to be about competence and character. and then we saw republican, herschel walker, have a rally in canton, georgia, where he
10:11 am
had a lot of supporters there with him and was seen side by side with senator, ted cruz. an interesting choice because that is a colleague that often senator or talk mentions as someone who he has like working with across the aisle on various projects that, you know, he's got voters with the sort of proof of his work and why he decides to be back in the senate. take a listen to both of their messages as they start back up this campaign. >> y'all can tell i am not a politician. i don't look like one, don't talk like one, don't act like one. i'm that warrior forgot that he's been looking for. >> you can call me old fashioned, but i still think that character matters. my mom and my dad instilled that in me. character matters. integrity matters. telling the truth matters. competence matters. and georgia, you deserve a senator who will tell you the truth and who will actually do
10:12 am
the work. >> the warnock camp tells me that they feel like the wind is out there back. they are feeling very confident in this environment coming out of tuesday, when we really didn't see a red wave materialize with the news that former president trump may be announcing that they are going to have a very successful and easy time trying to talk to people who are those middle of the road split ticket voters who may have liked, for example, republican governor kemp, but don't feel comfortable voting for trump backed herschel walker. so, they now think that combined with the base that they already have, the democrats here in georgia, but also some of those middle of the road voters, that they have sort of a good environment ahead of them. but this is still going to be a really tight race and it's just going to, be winner takes all, really. so, who gets the most votes? that will determine who gets the seat here in georgia, alex. >> listen, these guys have been running for quite awhile. they've got a few weeks left that really have to hit the pavement. do we know anything about surrogates were going to come in and really help with the

enthusiasm and keep them going? >> the staffers i've spoken to say that they are strategizing around that right now. who are they going to have with them? i think imam republicans, there's a big question of whether or not it's going to make sense to have someone like president trump, who has had herschel walker's back, be present here. for the reasons that i just outlined. with that actually hurt him to be seen with president trump at this time? then, you know, when it comes to the warnock camp, they're also trying to figure out what democrats are going to help him bring new people into the fold. no one's really answering and uninformative way yet, who we are going to see. but we are going to see some surrogates. of course, walker already had ted cruz with him, so i think we can expect some colleagues to be here in town. and for there to be a lot of events, they've been trying to really get out the vote, make sure that people are willing to vote a second time for them. but who exactly is going to end up here in georgia? i will keep you posted, alex. as soon as i found out. >> i know you will. as soon as they figure it out,

10:40 am
getting that vote total. >> that's a really good question and that third party candidate has, you know, he was not a factor in the campaign trail. he's the home of a lot of protest votes. there's a significant number of voters who said, hey, especially republicans who are concerned with her walker, who signaled that they were going to support this third party candidate out of protests because they could not vote for senator warnock. the bigger question is not who they will back. it's whether they come out at all. a lot of these voters won't come out at all and this is number six runoff. and so, that's why the focus is on the base, base, based. for senator warnock, he's trying to get back there skeptical republican voters who might have held their nose and voted for herschel walker. he wants the windows back in this final stretch as well. >> yeah, for sure. we've got three more weeks until that result, could take next weekend again, greg. i want to get an update for you than. thank you. let's face it, everyone, about this time last week, you are concerned about this election and then you heard this.
