key county that will decide the battle between katherine cortez masto and adam laxalt. hundreds of votes currently separate the two there. a victory for the democrats in this state will win the senate. that comes after mark kelly was projected a winner in arizona. he gave his victory speech a short time ago. >> we have seen the consequences that come when leaders refused to accept the truth and focus more on conspiracies of the past. rather than solving the challenges that we face today. >> in georgia, candidates are just getting started and what will be a furious race to the runoff in just over three weeks from now. we have correspondents covering it all with us this hour. we are going to get them in just a moment. we are also following the situation on the house side. there is still a chance that democrats could in fact hold on. they are defying every prediction. i am talking to congressman ted lieu about that. that is coming up as well. we want to start in nevada.
11:02 am
that is where key results could be released at this very hour. local officials are gearing up to hold the press conference out of clark county. a majority of these outstanding ballots are currently there. we want to bring in stephanie. she is there for us on the ground in las vegas, nevada. you are there ahead of this press conference. we are awaiting it here. what can we expect? >> yes, they have been holding a press conference like this every day here since the election. they don't actually announce a vote results at the press conference. rather, they answer questions about how many ballots are outstanding and when they think they are going to get to the end of that mail-in ballot count. we were told yesterday that they were going to finish off today. right now, by our count, we have a little over 20,000 votes and mail-in ballots that they are trying to get through here in clark county. one of our big questions for joe gloria, the top election official here, are you really going to be done? are you really going to be done
11:03 am
today? do you have any idea when that is going to happen? you mentioned it in the league in. there is just 862 votes separating republican candidate african laxalt. that is incredible. he has the lead over katherine cortez masto. if you were a betting person hearing las vegas, and there were a lot of them, you would have a bet that it would be this close in the race. it is razor thin. over the course the last few days, this is what we have seen. the mail-in ballots are being tabulated here in the county. that includes wash account. that is where reno is. the mail-in ballots have been breaking heavily for cortez masto. at the end of election day, this is adam laxalt with a substantial lead. that league has been shipped away every single night with these vote drops. now, if they continue in that direction, cortez masto could have the lead.
11:04 am
potentially by thousands of those by the end of the day. this is in the last couple of hours. adam laxalt tweeted out. he tweeted to his supporters. they still have a chance. we are looking at these vote counts. he says that if they are gop precincts, if they are slightly democrat leading, we can still win. if they contribute to -- if they trend heavy democrat, she will overtake us. this is something interesting to point out here. he is acknowledging the math. the math is not in his favor this week. something else is that adam laxalt helped donald trump challenge the election two years ago. the allegations have never been proven for widespread fraud in this state. you don't see that today from him. you don't hear that from him today. it is not a challenge the process. >> yes. -- >> he is not calling it foul. he is calling out the math. -- you can see the mail-in ballots
11:05 am
that could drop. with that being said, staff, look at how close this races. whatever we echoes, there could be a recount. >> potentially. if it is determined that cortez masto wins this race, there is no automatic recount. no matter how close, there is no automatic recount. the loser -- that would be november 25th. they have to pay for it. there will be a recount. yeah, you have to see how close it is going to get. there was reported in the daily mail that the team was already considering a recount. he came out and said it was not true. they are not calling for a recount at this early stage. you know, that is still a possibility. it would just extend this even longer. >> all right.
11:06 am
that is stephanie for us. as always, thank you. we are gonna bring you that news conference live from clark county, nevada. that is the epicenter of the political world right now. that will get started. we expect that in 20 or 30 minutes or so. whenever that comes alive, we're gonna bring it to you. all right, to nevada, let's head over to arizona. this is the race for incumbents entered or mark kelly. he defeated his challenger, blake masters. this is his first full term. he last won the election in 2020. he fill the seat once held biden senator john mccain. it was the governor's race between a democrat, katie hobbs, and kari lake. the race is still too early to call. we are standing by in phoenix. ivan, as always, good to talk to you. senator kelly gave his victory speech earlier today. what did we learn? >> yeah, mark kelly, we projected he is gonna pull this off over blake masters. the remaining 400,000 ballots are not gonna be enough for blake masters to overcome the deficit that he is currently
11:07 am
facing here. >> we have a protest here behind us. enough you can see that sign. they have already called for kari lake. nbc news has not done that. ballots have to be counted here. there is a protest happening behind us. now living in the reality. this is a process. it has existed here. they're verify these ballots in realtime. there have been no specific allegations of fraud or regularity. the county confirmed to me that no campaign has come forward to them with any specific concerns. as for mark kelly, i want you to hear a little bit of this speech. we went back down the road. this is in phoenix. he talked about the way he intends to sir. this is why he believe that he was elected to serve a full six year term. take a listen. >> now, after a long election,
11:08 am
it can be tempting to remain focused on the things that divide us. we have seen the consequences that come when leaders refused to accept the truth. they focus more on conspiracies of the past and solving the challenges that we face today. as we face these challenges, there has not been a day. not a day has gone by where i have not remembered that i am sitting in the senate seat of senate john mccain. >> for the third election cycle in a row, arizona voters have elected a democrat to serve them in the u.s. senate. we are still watching these down ballot races as well. the secretary of state, kennedy, adrian fontes, nbc news projects that he is going to be republican mark finchem. we are waiting here for the next batch of ballots in maricopa county. that could give us an
11:09 am
indication and where he governors races headed here in the state. yasmin? >> potential indication there as you put it. that means that this thing is not even gonna get wrapped up today. what are we expecting? there could be a call. especially on the governor's race. >> actually, let's be frank here. if kari lake does not cut the deficit tonight, it is not my job at nbc news to make those projection calls. but i think that, per the conversation with both camps, that would be essentially the nail in the coffin here. these final batches of ballots here that are coming in are all reflecting. this will play out in the days ahead. these are the mail ballots a folks hand-delivered on election day. generally, they are all going to look the same. if you are kari lake, you want to be winning these tonight by 53 or 54%. 47 or 46%. you will have a chance to be in
11:10 am
this ball game here tonight. >> oh right. as always, we think. you we appreciate it. from there, let's go to georgia. campaigning is well underway in that runoffs and election. will be different this time for raphael warnock and herschel walker? they are the only candidates on the ballot. election day set for december 6th. by then, we could know, holualoa what party is in control the senate. we are in atlanta. we are following both of these campaigns. how could this, because there has been a lot of theories punched around, this could affect voters, especially when it comes to voters. if it is decided, if we know by that point who in fact controls the senate, talk us through this. >> you know, that control is a settled question. it will be a settled question before things really kick into high gear here. i am not sure that it is going
11:11 am
to change the actions for the average voter. i don't think they look at who nevada chose to represent them in and decide who they are going to choose year based on people in another state. there is the amount of national party interest -- the stakes feel very high here. early voting is going to start shortly after thanksgiving. when you talk to the warnock camp, they are fired up. they think the wind is out there back right now. that is because of everything that we are seeing happening around the country. there was this red wave that never materialized. that is because former president trump may be announcing on tuesday that he is running for president. herschel walker and him are good friends. he has supported walker the whole way through. they think that is gonna help him. take a listen to some of his
11:12 am
early messaging in this new part of the campaign. >> here is what this race is about. it is about competence. it is about character. this is about who we are georgians. georgians understand the importance of competence and character. this is not a race about democrat and republican. it is not a raise of right versus left. fundamentally, this is a race about right and wrong. >> this is still going to be a really tight race. look, if you are walker, you are firing up your base as much as possible. warnock is not only going after the days of democrats are in the state, but he is ultimately talking to split ticket voters. these are the people who would've been comfortable with governor camp. they might have shot away from herschel walker and his
11:13 am
association with donald trump. you are gonna see both of these candidates hit the road all the way through thanksgiving and up to early december. that is because it is still going to be a tight fight. winner takes all. there is no percent, no quote, no benchmark anybody needs to hit. it is about who gets the most votes at the end of the day. >> just so folks are clear here, and i'm sure people know their, look at the numbers here. this is when it comes to actually won the senate. it is a 49 to 49 split. of katherine cortez masto pulls out a win, warnock would essentially just be an additional vote in the senate. we would already know at that point that the democrats would control the senate. again, those stakes could be possibly a little bit lower if cortez masto pulls out a win. we will not know that in the next 24 to 48 hours or so. we are watching the races there. as always, thank you so much. we appreciated. still ahead, the news conference on the senate race in nevada. others control the upper chamber. it could be decided today. we are going to take you there live when it happens. plus, control the house is also unclear at this hour.
11:14 am
if you can believe it. there is increasing hope amongst democrats that they may have a path to retain power. that is something that was unthinkable just a week ago. and we'll be joined by the democratic congressman to talk more about that. it is coming up next. is coming up next ness internet. help your business stay ahead with the reliable connection your business deserves. book your appointment today. and switch to the network america relies on. verizon. my most important kitchen tool? my brain. so i choose neuriva plus. unlike some others, neuriva plus is a multitasker supporting 6 key indicators of brain health. to help keep me sharp. neuriva: think bigger. the long-lasting scent of gain flings made it smell like dave was in his happy place - the massage chair at the mall. 11:18 am
control the house is still up for grabs. key races are remaining unsettled. republicans are projected to win 220 seats in the house. democrats could likely take 215. of that estimate, there is a margin of error above about seven seats. election officials are still counting those ballots in at least 22 races. there remains a potential path to victory for democrats to in fact hold on. republicans are facing the prospect of potentially not reclaiming the house majority. they are leading with a slim majority. the political infighting in finger-pointing is grilling. join me now is congressman ted lieu, a democrat from california. all eyes are on your state. it is not often this happens in an election. all eyes are on the state.
11:19 am
jim, the first night out, we are looking to california. he predicted it on the very version of the election results rolling in. we were gonna be looking to your, state california. that is when it comes to who has house majority. you have the most outstanding results still in the state of california. he races. for instance, katie porter. what do you think that race is going to be called? >> thank you. katie porter is going to win. that is because the late mail-in ballots generally trend democratic. we saw that happen in 2018 and 2020. it is going to happen in 2022 as well. i am confident that katie is going to remain an awesome member of congress. >> i am with that. i imagine you will also say you are confident the democrats are going to retain control of congress as well. >> i think that we certainly have a path. it is remarkable. as we sit here today, we could still hold the house. democrats weigh over performed.
11:20 am
i think that is because on the messaging of putting people over politics, they focused on lower costs, safer communities, and better paying jobs. that resonated the american people. at the same time, we are able to show the american people that republicans were extreme. they want to criminalize abortion nationwide. they wanted to attack democracy. and they wanted to antisocial carotene five years. how do we know that? they put it in writing. >> if republicans do in fact win a slim majority, gaining control the house, what will that be like for you when getting legislation through? >> it would be chaos. i believe that speaker mccarthy, is -- if he is doing that, if they control the house, he will not be able to govern with such a slim. majority. you have the freedom caucus. they want to investigate hunter biden's laptop at the top priority. all of that stupid stuff. it is going to make governing very difficult. >> i want to know if you feel as if they have a slim majority.
11:21 am
that could keep them from going after president biden what they believe are scandals surrounding the president >>. >> i never underestimated republican ability to overreach. i think they will absolutely put a lot of investigations into hunter biden's lap top, into issues that the american people don't carry about. we need to focus on how to lower gas prices, how to reduce costs, how to make the communities safer. that is what democrats are working on. >> how do you do that in a minority? >> by showing the american people how stupid investigating is at this critical point in our nation's history. we are trying to deal with an economy coming out of a pandemic. we have a war going on between the ukraine and russia. there are lots of very important issues we need to work on. we should not have all of these investigations that the republicans are threatening to launch. >> let's flip the page if we can. and if democrats are able to retain control of the house,
11:22 am
the senate is also going to be controlled as well. what would legislation look like for democrats going forward over the next two years? >> if they hold the house and expand the senate by one seat, they are going to try again to put roe v. wade in as a law of the land. they are going to try again cap insulin at $35 for everyone in america. we are going to try again to put in hr one. that is a comprehensive voting rights measure that he could not get through because we did not have enough democrats. >> let's talk about roe v. wade for a second. when you are looking at the exit polls, it was the one issue that people were voting on across this country during the midterm elections. do you feel like there is more of a case now for the midterms to codify roe v. wade? even though -- there was that one extra vote you. our retaining control the senate. even if you don't necessarily have the votes that you need to codify legislation like roe v. wade. you have a stronger case now more than ever. >> absolutely.
11:23 am
that is what the american people shoulders election cycle. you also had state results. there were the results in michigan. that is a purple state. it came out very strongly. it did not want government to intervene in the most intimate and private decision between a woman in her doctor. you also have states that are looking at ways to put it into their constitution. they are talking about how you can get people the right to read productive health care. california did that. i just think that what the american people are saying is that they won't government out of our bedroom, out of our most private decisions. >> you can convince the moderate republicans to help codify roe v. wade. >> i think some of them will absolutely support it. you have a number of republicans that really won in a very moderate seat. these are streets that joe biden won. they don't want to appear crazy. maybe the republican caucus will be convincing they are crazy. that remains to be seen.
11:24 am
>> thank you. we appreciate it. >> coming up, we are just minutes away. we have an update from election officials on the vote count in nevada. that could decide the fate. we are live in clark county as the final votes are being tallied. we will be right back. right back. leon's saving up for his first set of wheels... nice try. really? this leon's paying for his paint job on the spot... and this leon, as a chase private client, he's in the south of france, taking out cash with no atm fees. that's because this family of leons has chase. actually, it's león. ooh la la! one bank for now. for later. for life. chase. make more of what's yours.

would be the last thing on my mind. thankfully, voya provides comprehensive solutions and shows me how to get the most out of my workplace benefits. voya helps me feel like i've got it all under control. voya. well planned. well invested. well protected. all right, welcome back. we have live pictures right now on your screen. it shows the nevada election headquarters. this is moments ahead of the expected press conference on outstanding votes in the county. as we wait that, i want to bring in a reporter who is there for us in las vegas. we are also with jonathan allen, the msnbc senior reporter. gary, i want to start with you. as per expectations of this press conference that is happening, what is it? >> the number we are looking for is how many ballots they say they are going to releasing clark county today. they have to get it done today. we think that number is around
11:29 am
23,000. they are going to confirm that shortly for us. we will also confirm that they think they can get it done today. the state statute says they have to you. they have been confident all week that they can do this. yesterday, they counted 27,000 mail-in ballots. they released those numbers late last night. it does not seem like it should be any issue here. that should be able to get done today. we will have a very good idea of what this race looks like. there are two other outstanding types of ballots. the ballots that we are talking about today are the mail dane usps ballots, the ballots that were dropped in dropbox at polling sites on election day. there is also provisional ballots in ballots that need to be cured. that means there is something wrong with the signature or something like that. some people have gone and on the hearing. there are groups out here in las vegas and around the state trying to get out the cure if you will. they are telling people to cure their ballots for them to count if they are having that issue. right now, 862 is a number of
11:30 am
votes. it separates catherine cortez masto and adam laxalt. this is an incredibly tight race. >> to be clear, gary, for the most part, mail-in ballots, dropbox ballots, many of these are trending more towards catherine cortez masto over the last three days. compared to adam laxalt. >> yeah. as we have seen about 60% of every bachelor that we have gotten a mail-in ballot is going towards catherine cortez masto. both here in clark county any other county. >> got it. so you can understand, as we are watching this thing take place, you know why it is samples are wondering if in fact is going to turn more towards cortez katherine moscow's favor. you are looking at the 862 vote spread right now. katherine cortez masto is training. jonathan allen, you and i spoke on election day. we did not expect to be here today. that is for darn sure. democrats are watching the. they see these results with
11:31 am
bated breath. what are you gonna be listening for today? >> this is the big thing. how many of these votes are still coming in? as gary said, how fast can they be delivered? democrats are certainly optimistic that this race is going to go and's favor. relieve them of the attention of waiting for a one-off election in georgia. that will help determine whether or not they could be the majority in the senate. it is not quite the same name. that is in terms of power flipping. what it does mean is that joe biden would be able to get nominees through the senate. >> i want to bring in john rolston. he is the ceo and an msnbc political analyst. the press conference is starting right now. that the committee listened. we can talk after. >> most importantly, i want to let everybody in the general public know that all of our mail-in ballots have been received. they will be reported today. we still have work on the counting board. as soon as they are done, they
11:32 am
can set it over to tabulation. everything will be tapping in and reporting. there is the outstanding cure the provision that will go in next week. yesterday, we tabulated and reported out 27,346. today's mail was small. 268. we will continue to communicate with the post office throughout this afternoon. if we receive it by 5:00, if it is postmarked, we will be making a run to go get those and bring them in. we don't want anybody to be disenfranchised. we rely completely on the post office to give us that information. today, there are over 22,000 ballots that still need to go in. you need to keep in mind that i have been talking about the cures for several days now. those numbers continue to go up because we process them every day. as soon as the voter calls in, once they do the required information, we have staff that pulls out the ballot and sends
11:33 am
it into a batch to be counted. that is why some of the numbers still go up. it is a little bit over what i have been reporting. the cure is up to 14,651 total. as of this morning, there are only 7139 that are still eligible to be cured. i encourage the general public, we have the hotline running. we are working today, tomorrow, and obviously on monday. until 5:00. that is the statutory deadline. that number is 702, 455, 6552. if you need to cure your ballot, i encourage you, we have plenty of votes on the hotline, there is no cure on that call. we have plenty of people servicing voters to get that done. we will be open until five. on monday, from 7 to 5. as i had mentioned every day, the provisionals are continuing to be verified.
11:34 am
their ballot will be counted after they registered. i want to open up a few questions. >> president trump -- [inaudible] trying to do whatever they can to steal the election for adam laxalt. >> we are taking ballots in that we are required to take again according to law. there is no way that we can find ballots. they are brought here by the united states postal service. as long as it is postmarked, we process those ballots and put them in the count. >> will you wait for the post office today? >> absolutely. >> it will be after 5:00? >> we already made a pick up today. we went to the main sunset station. we also did due diligence. we went ahead and went to a local office down here on mlk. we are waiting to talk to the regional contact one more time this afternoon. she should have her staff sweeping off the stations to make sure that we have
11:35 am
identified all of those ballots. we will make one more trip. of mourners it isn't labeled and by 5 pm, we will process those ballots. 50 5:55. >> you can start processing those next wednesday. how long will it take to finish? >> it takes longer to go through the part we are doing right now. that is making sure that they are in fact eligible to be registered. once we have, that we get the secretary state list. what we are doing then is going through to make sure that they have not voted here. this is from carson to -- that is not me. we are making sure that they have not been voting some oral. the process of actually getting them into the system is on animated process. it does not take long. we should have those ready. >> when can we expect the local community? >> the cure is going to close a. that is what i mentioned earlier. as far as the ballots, we will most up until we are completely get done with what we've got.
11:36 am
anticipating that will be sometime in the late afternoon or early evening. >> at this point, have you heard from any allegations? we're talking about the president comments. has any campaign reached out even told you that we had problems? >> a don't have anything. >> give us a sense of the election day or drop of ballots. how many have been processed? when he is there still to be processed? >> i just mention obeah of over 22,000 ballots process today. >> we have a breakdown. how many of those are election day drop of versus mail-in? >> no. not really. once we sort them in on wednesday, they went into badges. we start processing them. we started processing them from that day. it is a combination. they are all getting it. >> it is a combination. >> everything that we have.
11:37 am
my polls are empty. we have all of the bow into been achieved here by whatever means. drop off, a box, u.s. mail. they're all in the process to be counted today. that is the final day. the only thing after today's the cares. we can call and take care of them. there's also the traditional ballots. that is all that is left. yes? right there. >> no, not tomorrow. not tomorrow. >> africa the question that i was going to ask. it will open a question about whether you have heard the campaigns. have you or anyone from the county received any direct communication from mr. trump or the gop? this is for the republic rnc or anything like that. >> now that i am aware of. not that i am aware of. we have not heard anything from any campaign related to fraud or questioning. we have heard from people saying, well, when he got to be
11:38 am
done? explain that process. i saw the press conference today. can you just explain it to me one more time? i have done it many times throughout the course of the day. that is really all that i am doing. they are entitled to that information and i do it the best i can. >> we are hearing you do that. we know there is much less traffic around the building. there is much more parking available. do you want to tell us that you are still working with a full staff and the machines? >> we are still working with you full stuff. there is a another facility that we as as well. it is obtained for us. there are folks there working as well. the warehouse, they don't have as much work today. they are not involved in the county. they are in the fate of doing some of. day-to-day about all of that equipment back in the polls. they have a little bit of work
11:39 am
to do today. a lot of those did not have to come in today. sure, there is a shrinking number of cars outside. i think that we have fewer observers than we had. that is going to say that we slow down. we are still moving forward as quickly as we can. we know that this is a serious count. there are people nationwide who are looking to see these results. we are not taking that lightly and there's nothing that we have stopped doing here. i mention that every single day. we are using every piece of equipment that is available to. and we are fully staff and everything we have to use for the counties. we know the people need to see that count. we are not going to delay it any further. we have a full staff were going up in the end of the day. today is the day. we will have the majority of the mail ballots in. that is minus to care. minus the provisional. yes? >> this is just in your experience. it is very signs that you can give us? is there a percentage of how many people can actually put the full number of emails? is that a common thing that people can add into the official ballots?
11:40 am
that is something that i have to research. i really don't have that percentage in my mind. a lot of people think twice about doing that. unfortunately, it is not confidential information in those voters choose to make the record confidential. that is how the parties get that information. they end up getting calls they don't want to get. they have been hesitant to do that. the email, i will encourage all voters to put the email in. if you are truly concerned about that information being public, we have the information in our website. you have to make your record confidential. at which point, you address, your phone number, your email. your email is covered. the phone number would also become confidential. i don't have that number of the top of my head. >> for the cure? that is 702, 455, 6552. >> have you ever heard any complaints? have you ever been harassed or anything like that? >> thank goodness, no. i think that has a lot to do
11:41 am
with the work and support that had been provided. as a matter of fact, i walked in today. the chief of the park police was here. i took the time to thank him. there is the fact that the staff is here. they were noon overtime they would not normally have to work. they took our support seriously. they have been here. as a result, i have many stuff coming up to me. we really appreciate it. you have that going on. like until my husband, i can tell my wife, i can tell my case that they should think twice about being down there. there's a lot of crazy things going on in the world. there is the fact that we have done everything. i've been asked almost every day but today. we did what we did back in 2020 because we learned. that was a learning experience. we took advantage of what we learned. we put that into play. these are the north las vegas place. the clark county police. they did an excellent job of keeping my staff safe. i don't think. i've numbers narrative anything. as a matter of fact, when i walked out, i am very planet to
11:42 am

the american voter right now? >> a couple of things. let's zoom out of clark county for just a minute. let's look at the msnbc estimate in terms of the votes there. about 59,000 we estimate are outstanding. that would mean it the katherine cortez masto would only have to win 51% of the remaining balance in order to win the race by a few hundred votes. as john was saying, before, you have a lot of these ballots. she is doing very well. in terms of where the american electorate is right now, in a federal election, it seems like a lot of voters are uncomfortable with the idea of putting election deniers in office. we saw this time after time. whether they were government orient candidates, there were senate and house candidates at the federal level. there were government candidates. they could affect those elections. we saw them be rejected at the polls over and over again in this particular election cycle. there were some that were in
