craig glee reacting to people like marjorie taylor greene getting spots on these powerful committees like house oversight. with these loud voices, what might the new oversight committee look like and what does this mean for democrats on this committee? >> oh i think for democrats, it is going to be a budget headline question that may seem ramped out of something like science fiction or a conspiracy theory movie. a lot of right-wing media has focused on debug theories and ideas that just don't hold up too much scrutiny. but that has not stopped him from saying i hear things, i see this on social media. and now that a certain contingent of the house republican caucus has control oversight committee, you can expect to hear a lot of questions about this and other will be the crematoria of congressional oversight committee sort of getting behind some of these ideas. some of the people on that committee. you, know we have seen representative jim jordan. he had previously, said he told the rules committee at one point he had nothing to hide
12:03 pm
about january six and then disregarded the select house committee subpoena about it. we have seen paul gosar, who wrote he walked and wrote a lengthy tweet threat that spelled out a conspiracy theory about jeffrey epstein. he also once tweeted and then deleted an endorsement of donald trump's idea that you should get rid of the constitution. because of the 2020 election. and those are some of the people who are on the committee, they are potentially going to have the power to launch investigations or alicia write headlines about things that other people have looked out and probably dismissed. >> let's take a look at for example, scott perry, his appointment to the oversight committee. this is someone who had his own cell phone seized last summer by the doj, as a part of their january six investigation. the president for citizens for responsibility ethics in the washington post you, he is not some sort of incidental witness. he is someone who really seems to have been involved in the effort to overturn an election. what does it mean for him to be on a committee like this? by the, way the chairman has said they will make
12:04 pm
investigating joe biden a top priority. there possibly going to investigate law enforcement? >> right, my colleague eva who worked on me with that story, we tried to work out was just exactly what it means to have him on that committee. he played a key role in potentially connecting donald trump with the department of justice lawyer who wanted to take action to help overturn the election results. he played a key role in a part of that discussion. to have him on the committee, now with the power to investigate the fbi and other government actions, it's sort of surprising. >> another republican secured committee assignments this week, that is george santos, you created a list documenting santos as many fabrications that we have heard. we should note, he is admitted to lying about his resume and has apologized for some of those. the list is long and yet he did get to committee assignments this week. aussie, could mccarthy have just loved him off of committee's? >> absolutely, that was
12:05 pm
definitely one of the options you could've had. remember, the house was still on a process of making their rules when they decided to you know, put these on committees. after the new york times broke the story, sort of law stays series of investigations with the santas, that have kept on surprising people, the house republicans could have decided to not put them on the committee. to not put them on two committees. they could've decided to maybe take the step to eject them. they could have requested a formal investigation. they could've done any number of things and, yet they didn't. part of the explanation, from what we understand is that house speaker kevin mccarthy only has a five seat majority. if you try to expel or jeopardize one of those, one of those seats, you are down to a four seat majority. he has hanging over his head the idea that if any one point, house republicans could sort of challenge and call for a vote of no confidence in kevin

mccarthy. he is not dealing with a wide margin of error, to have someone like santos and his corner, speaker mccarthy does not have a lot of attentive to challenge him at this moment. >> all right ozzy, thank you for joining us. and now with, us congressman jimmy gomez, democrat of california. congressman, thank you for being with us. califothank you for having me. as someone who has served on this oversight committee, what is your reaction to these lawmakers getting spots on this panel? what could this really important committee look like now? >> i think these lawmakers getting these positions says that the qanon caucus led by marjorie taylor greene is the republican caucus at the same time. it is one of the same. kevin mccarthy might be the head, she is the neck that turns ahead. and that should tell you what it means. the republican conference is no longer interested in governing, it no longer interested in building for the american people. they will make this into a circus. we are going to stand
12:07 pm
toe-to-toe, then we will push back to make sure that the american people understand that they don't have their best interest in mine. the democrats do. >> congressman, how does someone who got kicked off of her committees and up with these powerful assignments and what congress? >> she did a masterful job of getting votes for kevin mccarthy to become the speaker. that the qanon caucus and the extremist in the republican party have essentially taken over the republican conference on the u.s. house of representatives. that is how she did it. and that she speaks for the base of the republican party and that she should be feared more than kevin mccarthy. she has done a masterful job in getting these positions but she is still i believe a threat to our colleagues and the threat to democracy that we all fight to defend. >> congressman, we don't know what committees democrats will serve on but the washington post reports that on the democratic side, some members of a congressional hispanic caucus are sending out warning signals that you can lose your spot on the powerful ways and
12:08 pm
means committee. that really potentially one latina lawmaker on the democratic side of the panel. what could you tell us about this? do you expect to be on that the oversight committee on swell? >> we expect to stay on the oversight committee, the ratios have not changed on oversight. i have enough seniority on that committee. ways and means, this ratio stayed the same. we are losing about five democrats and i am one of the people that's right under the line. elections have consequences. that means that i will not be able to fight for child tax credit that benefits working men and women. i will not be able to make sure that immigrants and people who are in the shadows are kept in mind when we passed legislation. it's unfortunate but that's what happens when you lose the majority. at the ratios change and you get a leader off committees if you are not above the line. >> and speaker mccarthy as promised to prevent representative adam schiff, eric swalwell and ilhan omar
12:09 pm
from serving on committees. are you hearing the same? is there anything that you are hearing on the democratic side of anything your caucus can or will do? >> yes, it's unfortunate but kevin mccarthy is probably going to remove eric swalwell, adam schiff danilo hawn from their committee's just wrigley political retaliation. nothing. more the reason why is that it's retaliation that we will remove marjorie taylor greene from her committee assignments but there is a key difference. she was using political language to incite violence against other members of congress. you know that would not be any kind of behavior would not be tolerated any work environment. there has to be consequences and that was the consequence of her being removed from those committee assignments. if it is just about what they believe, that is a step too far and it's unacceptable. >> given that it's retribution congressman, do you think anyone regrets kicking off marjorie taylor greene or paul gosar did? to your, point, marjorie taylor greene was kicked off for a
