yesterday. the downing of the object follows the aerial object shut down by the u.s. military over alaska on friday. that one, following the down surveillance balloon from china that crossed the u.s. before being shot down off the south carolina coast last week. now, given your seat on the house affairs, what can you tell us? >> first of all we, our friend, thank you for having me. this is obviously something that the american people are watching. the idea that we shot down three unidentified objects in the last couple of days, one just several minutes ago, the american people deserve to know what it is we are shooting at. look, i don't think we need to call up randi quaid alla independence day. but we are clearly shooting at something. either we knew it had been there for a while, or something that is recently been discovered. so they know what they are

2:07 pm
romney was not quiet about santos, joining the state of the union and telling reporters that he was surprised that speaker kevin mccarthy had called on santos to resign already. and that's just on the senate side. you will recall that a handful of new york house republicans have said that santos would resign. house democrats introduced the resolution for his removal this week. several of santos's own constitutions were to watch this week, demanding he step down. how does this resolve itself? does george santos finished his first term in the u.s. house? is he removed? how does this resolve itself, congressman? >> look, i don't think we know the end of the story. every week, there is a new chapter. senator romney came out and spoke publicly about what republicans are saying quietly. but, look there's a numbers game going on in the u.s.
2:08 pm
house. obviously, kevin mccarthy has very tight numbers. he's got the freedom caucus, causing problems behind the scene. it takes one member to call for a vote to vacate the chair under the new rules they agree to. obviously, having anybody leave causes them problems. they had another congressman that fell off a roof, so they lost that vote temporarily. so that's why you have not seen leadership call for george santos to resign. they know that he is an absolute liability to the republican party, in order to try to keep the majority. now, quite frankly, until we rate for him to resign, or maybe law enforcement take some action, he is the gift that keeps on giving the democrats. so i don't know that we want to be so quick to get rid of him. all he continues to do as more stuff comes out, and it continues to shed the light on the hypocrisy of the republican party. >> congressman, i'm out of time. but let me ask you this, lawmakers in your home state of florida voted friday to expand

why has the faith community gotten so involved,, because we talk to professor crenshaw who's been attacked. and the college board revised its findings, and it's framework for the placement of african american studies. why have the faith leaders got involved in this? and why are you trying to -- >> first of all, reverend al, thank you so much for having me. i think my main reason is because a black church has always been the holistic, prophetic witness in the african american community. so faith leaders are less than leaders if we don't stand with others, in this fight against this oppression and injustice. and reverend al, in your comments, you said one of the very reasons we are doing this

2:17 pm
and even liberals got involved in it. they were concerned, when they're brown versus board of education is legitimate. they said, how can you choose between white students desires to exclude versus a black students desires integrate? both have resistance, and i would say college boards response to it has been part of our history. that's what critical race theory is trying to elevate. the specious equivalency between white feelings and black reality. >> and that is ultimately the white supremacy -- they become uncomfortable. they didn't care about confederate flags making us uncomfortable, but they will be uncomfortable hearing history. we're talking about history. looking ahead, the ship, how do you anticipate desantis in the florida education officials will respond to wednesday's march? what are you hoping to accomplish? >> well, we hope to serve notice on the governor on

2:20 pm
because there is no logic. >> there is a logic. first, let me say, what do we lose when we give up intersectionality? we can't understand why black women have the highest maternal mortality rate. we can't understand why, among women, they are the most likely to be killed by the police, and so on. but i think what really is behind this is the fear that intersectionality is a uniting framework. people see common cause with each other. so the reality is the black people are not just straight, they're not just men, and they're not just middle class. when we expand our understanding of black reality to include the way the patriarchy, homophobia, class shapes our reality, so we can better transform it, it means that we have connections with other movements and other people. and that is exactly why they are trying to force us to give up intersectionality. and that is why it's a shame that the college board went along with it. >> all right. i think both you, professor,
