like to have a real ba treatment or lack thereof an treatment. so, i know it neglects looks like i know what these things are and so, as a member of the oversight committee, we ar still trying to get th information about this visit but i definitely plan to mak sure that i make the rea comparisons about who has been struggling and what th struggle looks like. if marjorie taylor green really wants to push thi envelope because there is a rea conversation to be had in fact, we should have been having this conversation as we saw him it's dying, especially in the federal prisons, over covid-19 we saw when they were no gaining access to the things that they needed and i don't really care what i is that you have been accuse of or what it is that you ar incarcerated for if you are not handed a deat sentence than the fact that we were sitting in the midst of covid-19 should not than allow for you to get a death sentence though, we have some conversations that we can have in this country about what i looks like and what it shoul

>> yeah. so, alex, this is a grea question i think it is a conversation w need to have i think that we learned in covid-19 that workforce is changing the face of it we know that there lot marke will work from home, and thing like that. so i think that we are tryin to figure out what does th future of work look like i this country considering the fact that th minimum wage is still 7:25 i the state of texas, and i have 20% of my district living ou of or below poverty, i don't really know how they would fee about some of these things because i have got people wh are literally trying to work more and more hours a week because they are trying to put food on the table. but i do think that we need to have an honest conversatio about the fact that the wa that we work to historically i just not what we need to d going forward. i see the benefits, i see that families would have more tim to spend together. , i know the mental call tha we have all been given in th midst of covid-19 and the mids of inflation honestly, i'm sure alex yo travel the world

where billions are under flood alerts as the atmospheric rive topples the state causing road to reverse overflow, rose unde feet of water. residents ordered to evacuate. that the deadly weathe situation far from over with even more rain expected this weekend. and into next week abc's chief patterson joins us again from sandra california that is the central part of th state.

all, right so that river i still rushing pretty quickly beneath you, there >> it is yeah this is a mass it is a mess across really the entirety of the northern hal of the state we are talking about 90 alerts warnings, watches, flash flooding, really all acros this region. it doesn't seem like a lot, bu then you realize this is california so you are talking about 1 million people under threat. part of the bay area i underwater part of the central coast is underwater the central valley where i am, water logged and as you mentioned, he probably can hear it in th microphone walking across this bridge this river is rushing. and really, where from where i was standing not too long ago, just a few hours, ago all of this would have been underwater if it wasn't thanks to peopl in this community, sandbagging fixing this bridge, taking out a huge chunk of debris fro under this bridge which is clogging up a lot of the water part of this community to my right would have bee completely submerged in fact, a lot of this was all

under water. it would've cut off at least 1 residents from the rest of california this community dealing with it but this is not the only place as mentioned there's also norther california, monterrey county we are hearing that there was levy that broke. nearby a river upstream of a community. that will area has been floode out. there's been something like 56 swift water rescues toda alone. as crews work throughout the state to try to save as many people as they can to get so many communities underwater. we spoke to some of thos people about what they are experiencing here is what they told us. >> we have been here about 2 years, and we really haven't seen anything to this extent >> the biggest problem is no being able to get to work. it is a little bit tight we had to take a leave o absence. they excused a few days. we work in an amazon warehouse the power being off has been really difficult

>> yeah, alex. this criticism is coming circles. a lot of former trum administration officials i places like the center for renewing america, the heritage foundation really a smattering of these influential outside thin tanks. really calling on jim jordan t be more aggressive, issue more subpoenas, staff up faster create a committee more in the vein of the january si committee. as well as the original 1970 church committee that have a clear mission and focus. the big issue here is that som of these same witnesses that these outside groups have been pushing, people like stephen frightened and people who ar included in these 316-page report issued by democrats, ar not credible witnesses and don't have, have not yet reach that threshold of being actual whistleblowers which i think underscores th predicament and can done dru that jim jordan finds himsel

in which is that he sort of ha this sisyphean task of tryin to prove the improvable an bear out a lot of thes conspiracy theories that hav been pushed by people on the right. which begs this question, is jim jordan going to have to tr to work harder to prove that there is no there there? >> yeah. as one i think the most tellin conversation included in our story was with the congressional investigator who said, he is feeling on bot fronts he's not only ruling out delivering on any substance, he's not delivering on thi vast labyrinth of conspiracy theories and he has set himself up fo failure. but we know that he is s staffing up. their committee is still finding their footing. despite a lot of the criticism that we are hearing, we ar very nascent in this process so he still have some time lef to potentially right the shi and maybe find some issue that

canopies the right while als being substantive. >> you know, tracey, you hav been in both the fbi and the cia. so as you watch this committee target so-called whistleblowers did the committee create the sense of weaponization befor anything was actually found? how closely do you think the intelligence communities watching this? do you think that the action of the subcommittee, does it all at all hinder the abilit to keep the nation safe in any way? >> i absolutely think that i does, alex i think that if we look at the church committee back in the 70s, the setup of that committee was approved 82 to 4. it was very bipartisan that is not the case here. and as someone who works in th national security community fo a while, the reality is that those divisions that this is creating, those baseless divisions quite frankly, reall show our enemies that we are not united international security plan. and it is to basing th credibility of our nationa security apparatus as a whole.

violently, to resist violence. and then to de-escalate once people were inside because they're outnumbered. >> don't you wish, tracey, w don't even have to talk abou this but i am going to ask you what your reaction is to carlson' versions of january 6th. do you think he puts capitol security, or even our national security at risk anyway? >> i personally do you think h does there were 41,000 hours of videotape. he cherry-picked basically wha he felt fit his narrative. that again is highly problematic. the other part that i just on personal level find the most offensive was that he wa blaming federal law enforcemen for basically enabling thi mob. i did not risk my life i afghanistan, to be blamed fo basically a riot at ou capital. and i think that is highly problematic. not to mention also releasin this video is now showin individuals the layout of th capital. just from a security standpoint you are showing individual allay out of the capitol you are showing them entry points, and egress points. and those are things that we a

law enforcement officers lik to keep safe and don't want ou in the public realm. because it could invit something like this again. >> yeah. you know, jackie, how speake kevin mccarthy he is continuing to defend giving the footage to tucker carlson. but many republicans are indee outraged over exactly what carlson is doing with it so, walk us through the divide here and how it could be impactin the party. >> yeah, alex. a lot of republicans reall just, when it comes down to, i don't want to have to continue to relitigate the events o january 6th. now, almost two years out of that event there's a lot of frustration with tucker's presentation sort of dredging up a lot of issues in this event that was caused major part due to the former presidents continued belie that the election was, the 202 election was stolen.

and these efforts that wer whipped up by trump and hi supporters and a lot of his allies in the house. and continuing to have t discuss that to the press. you know, this is somethin that doesn't register well wit their constituents it is not something that their constituents want them to be talking about, especially as they are just about to head to home for a week and a half there also was this feelin from some critics privatel saying that mccarthy gave this over to tucker carlson in orde to appease one of the most influential voices i conservative circles but that at the end of the day it is not beneficial for the party. although there i simultaneously this feelin that it just like another a lo of other negative detrimenta news cycles, this one will die out too. >> yeah, we will see okay, jacqui, and tracy. very good to see you both. well, florida's governors in iowa, i don't have to tell you why, but next to how man people there really want to do
