eight people were found dead after two suspected smugglin boat collided overnight. dana williams is there on th ground thank you for joining us we appreciate it give us an update, if you will on this developing story >> yasmin, absolutely. it's incredibly tragic news fo those of us to wake up to here on the west coast. like you said, we just wrapped up a press conference here a lifeguard headquarters i mission late we heard from a lifeguard chie who actually said this is th most tragic maritime smuggling incident he can remember in sa diego and maybe even i california here's what we know. the incident happened overnigh about eight miles off the coas in an area called la jolla it specifically happened tha black speech they got a 9-1-1 call in between 11:30 and midnight fro a spanish speaker. that person told him that ther were five votes at black

speech one had five people on and one had eight. they said it was an incredibly difficult area it was foggy overnight as well as that area is known to hav sandbar's. when lifeguards got there, i was an incredibly tragic scene they looked in the water and they look to shore and sai they found seven bodies at first. when cbp air came, they foun one more there were a total body is found. they didn't find any survivors we spoke with the coast guar as well. since 2021, there are actually 23 known maritime smugglin deaths this just adds to it already a large number even in the pas five years since 2017 -- they said the percentage o maritime smuggling incidents has increased 771% that effort to rescue and find survivors in the open incident here in a law will continu today.

silicon valley operates on pacific time i gave it time i realize the wires did not go through even when i expected them to. shortly thereafter, i saw th news that the bank had in fact collapsed and then taken ove by the fdic. >> what does this mean for you right now for your company and for your family? >> friday, i would say it wa the hardest able friday it was payday for m team as far as i can see, the funds had been deposited from ou account on thursday. i could not confirm for th entirety of the day that those funds were actually going to hit the bank accounts of m staff. i spent the entirety of friday trying to make sure that tha happened over the weekend, we finally were hearing from everyone o the team they had been paid. that was a big sigh of relie for us for us, we did have anothe bank account where w maintained some amount o funding.

given that we had payday o friday, we have a little bit o time we are not as bad off as many, many other founders and smal and medium sized businesse which were impacted by thi which are failing to find th funding that they need to pa payroll monday and tuesday i feel really fortunate in tha regard we have a bit of time here for us, really, this is abou the opportunity to kee building it's about the futur opportunity of our company our team is paid we can run the next payroll. we can continue service an customers. our customers haven't been interrupted anyway, shape, o form i don't expect them to be. this really is going to kneeca us and limit our ability t continue to grow as of this point, until we kno more from the fdic on what w can expect, we are planning in increments of two weeks at a time >> that's exactly right.

several inches of floodwater that's where we find scott cohen. tell us about what's going on. the storm is expected to continue throughout the week what's the latest on the ground? >> it is a serious situation this is the town of pajaro it is a war community, a lot o agriculture workers whic support the big agricultur industry here in the central coast of california. as you can see, it is flooded. the levee broke here about midnight saturday morning. we are told -- i just spent some time with th county sheriff we will bring you more of th interview in the next hour when the levee broke, it tor about 100 foot wide hole through the levee. that has now increased it's about 150 feet now as mor water comes through, obviously that sends more water into the community. they've evacuated at this town
