thank you so much for joinin us on this, we appreciate it i want to talk specificall about the tennessee ban. and it was purposely written vague. when you think about the dra performers when you think about trans gender individuals you think about the prid parade as well how worried are you for safety >> this, i think the thing tha is so insidious about this bil specifically is that it is s vague. and while it does clearl target and put dra entertainers, small businesses that employ drag entertainer at a disadvantage and put them at risk, it also opens up a lo of folks in the trans communit and make them more vulnerable. unfortunately, the resources that the community has to figh back against these discriminatory laws and bill

that are not only happening in places like tennessee but we see that they are basicall copying and pasting this language, this type of languag and using it another local legislatures across the country. but the reason why this is so, one of the reasons so terrible aside the fact that drag is an expression of free speech an it is an art form and it is way that queer people in the lgbtq+ people celebrate thei community. it is also pulling resources and attention from the few people that are trying to figh within the community away from protecting the mos vulnerable people in the community, many transgende people and transgender youth >> i also want to play thi sound for you, it's an exchang with virginia governor glenn youngkin who supported restrictions on sports bathrooms, targeting trans students and he faced a question from a trans man at a town hall listen to this >> look at me.

that really brave high schoo student niko was asking this question that they aren' really in line with protecting trans individuals. we are seeing these as a attack on a community. and so attacking trans identity, attacking trans individuals an bathrooms, and attacking acces to bathrooms and sports an basically eradicatin transgender-ism from publi life clearly it is what is on the agenda for many politicians. and while i do think tha gender neutral bathrooms are a good place to start, i certainly is not the only thin that we are asking for when it comes to protections for lgbtq individuals. and unfortunately, a lot o these policies and bills are being put forth using rhetoric and online sort of anecdotes that they hear, but not really with the participation of or considering the live experience of tren individuals. so unfortunately when you do

have a discriminatory law that bans access to gendered spaces like bathrooms and sports, you think that you are addressing, you know, this idea of trans women in the bathroom and what they are calling man in th bathroom because they ar saying they want to keep men out of women's spaces. but then, you know, if you hav trans men which you do, then you are instantly forcing tran men to be in those very spaces that you are saying you want men not to be in >> what is, i want you to leav folks with the biggest misunderstanding that people have that support anti-trans anti-lgbtq plus bills, legislation. >> given there was a recen poll that shows that mos individuals, i think it's many 80% of americans say that they don't personally know someon who is trans they are getting lot of information about u from these same politician that are making up thi

discriminatory language. and so one of the things i would want people to know is that those who don't know an love someone who is transgende is that being transgender is very real. and there is no separating trans identity from th individual and that is why all of these bands and proposals that targe back room fair housing, yo know, education, employment, that is why they're so insan u.s. and so ginger us. so transitive it, what we ar we say we are. trans women are women, trans man our man. and if we can deal from a plac of empathy then that's maybe a good place to start. the other thing is that we are not out to transgender childre are not having surgeries that is really important t say. there is this misnomer tha forgeries are being done on young children that is absolutely not true. in most places, in most states in this country, you need to b over the age of 16 or 17 or 18

and the possibility of being kidnapped. now, the state department says that the texas department of public safety is telling all of the residents of texas, do not travel to mexico they are warning people, do no go to mexico, of course that just relates to the folks in texas. but as it relates to those three women, they are our last seen in the mexican state of - shares a border with texas and it is one of the six areas that were designated by th state department as a do not travel area. we were told those three women were on their way to a fle market when they were last heard from now we do know the fbi i involved in this investigation but it is really important t note here, yasmin, there are 112,000 missing people i mexico so mexican authorities are jus overwhelmed with these types o instances. of course, those are their own citizens that they are worried about their. of course, the white house i very aware of all of these incidents and really has released a statement that it says in part, the united state and mexico will bring all of their resources to bear agains

shedding light on how more and more women are rethinkin traditional understandings o how to juggle work, friends, and family and have become forging ne paths to take their mental health and professional succes into their own hands joining me now to discuss is jessica kriegel, chief scientist, workplace culture and culture partners because i think you for joinin us on. this appreciate it let me read for you some prett troubling stats. amidst all of this because we are hearing especially from this new repor from this that women are leaving the workplace in droves essentially it is because they don't have the support tha they need. 82% of women polled said tha while there is much talk about how overburdened women are nobody is actually helping eas the burden more than one and five women in the u.s. experience in mental healt conditions such as depressio or anxiety and 74% of women, that is thre out of four women, are worried about the mental state of thei female friends can you talk about what is

happening here >> i mean i can relate to al of those statistics. i am one of those women wh feels overburdened and i think back to when i was first being mentored early i my career and my mentor said you can have it all but yo can't have it all at once. and i think that is what i going on right now with many women. they are trying to have it all at once. we are in the pursuit of getting de-escalate and making partner and having to 0. children and the frantic pace at whic we are living right now, i mean cell phones are for burdening, our jobs withou kids or overburdening. putting it all together is creating a mental health crisis you are seeing addiction at al levels, all new high-levels. and so we are struggling right now to balance what fulfills us, what society expects from us what our families expect fro us what we think we should be doing and it is very ver challenging. and you know who else is struggling men to men are also overburdened.

so this isn't unique to women. women struggle more with child care because 80% of single parents are women. so there is more of that dynamic that they are probably balancing. but i think that everybody i struggling right now with th way that society has evolved and we need to revisit the foundational structure of some of the decisions we have mad about how we want to live. >> okay, so you talk about kin of this idea of wanting to hav it all but maybe not necessarily being able to have it all at once but why the heck not you know why not if it means just getting support. because i think the overarchin issue is we are not getting th support that we need right? and then also to add on to that, how do you advocate fo yourself to get it without feeling as if you ar putting yourself on your heels at work? i.e., missing a promotio because you need help. >> there is nuance here becaus there are different experience for different women. there is white privileged women, there are women who ar

struggling to make ends meet who are single parents and the don't have the same issue that report talked about, women are prioritizing self care some women don't have th privilege to be able t prioritize health care for those that do and thos that can have a voice, those that have reached thos leadership levels within a organization, it means getting creative and it means asking for things that maybe your mai ceo or your male colleague haven't thought about. one example is when i joined culture partners, i am a singl parent, and i have to travel for work, oftentimes, and when i wasn't negotiation i, said listen, if you want me t travel sometimes you are going to have to pay for my daughter and my caretaker to come wit me on these business trips and my ceo who is a male sai you know what that is the wa that it should be. so it wasn't a policy or a par that the company had but i was able to speak of about here is what i need from you in terms of support. and i decided to work with somebody who is willing to giv it i have worked in other environments where i didn' have that support and so if yo have the privilege to sometime
